BIPIN DANI The first Test match between Sri Lanka and Australia to be played at the Galle International Stadium (June 29-July 3) will be dedicated to Shane Warne, it is confirmed. Accordingly, Shane Warne's brother Jason and his wife Shay will be witnessing the Test match, where other Sri Lanka's legendary cricketers are also invited. The invitation was sent by the Hon. Tourism Minister Harin Fernando. "The Galle stadium was one of Australian cricketer Shane Warne's favourite cricket grounds and he helped to raise money to rebuild it, after the devastation caused by the tsunami in 2004", Chalaka Gajabahu, the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) said exclusively over the telephone from Colombo on Thursday evening, once the confirmation was received from Jason Warne. "We are honoured to invite the family of Shane Warne. With the great memory of Shane Warne's services to the nation, the Ministry of Tourism in Sri Lanka, together with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), have decided to dedicate this first Test to Warne", Gajabahu further added.

Sports Bulletin Report ABBOTTABAD:-KPK and Punjab have won their matches on the Day-2 of 5th PBCC Blind Cricket T-20 Super League 2022 Ayub Medical College Cricket Ground Abbottabad on Friday. Day-2 Game-1: (KPK beat Sindh by 21 runs) Matiullah’s captain’s innings of 71 runs helped KPK to beat Sindh by 21 runs. KPK won the toss and decided to bat first. KPK’s batsmen played superbly well and set the competitive total of 200 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Moeen Aslam was the second highest with 30 runs. Kashif Siddique and Israr Hassan grabbed 2 wickets each. In reply, Sindh tried its best to reach the target of 201 runs but fell 21 runs short of the target. Sindh’s team was able to score 179 runs by losing their 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Nisar Ali was their top scorer with 70 runs and Haroon Khan made 44 runs. Rizwan & Ayyaz took 2 wickets each while Shahzeb claimed 1 wicket. Result: KPK won by 21 runs Man of the Match: Matiullah Game-2 (Punjab beat Balochistan by 9 wickets) Punjab won the toss and asked Balochistan to bat first. Balochistan posted a tiny total of 179 runs on the board for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 18 overs. Riasat Khan was the highest scorer with 70 runs. Mohammad Safdar fetched 1 wicket.  The target of 180 runs wasn’t proved tough for the healthy batting lineup of Punjab and they achieved the target easily in 15 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Mohammad Safdar was the top scorer for Punjab who scored unbeaten 84* runs while Zafar Iqbal played a supportive inning of unbeaten 36* runs. OneNationOnePeople, a non-profit national campaign organisation which is promoting harmony and co-existence between all Sri Lankans has appealed to all spectators to wear yellow jersey and carry Australian flags in hand to say thank you note for coming over to Sri Lanka and play matches. "This One group is with us. They work with us", Hon. Tourism Minister Harin Fernando, while returning from Europe, said exclusively over the telephone. "Let's flood the next one day match with Australian flag's and Thank you notes to show our gratitude as ONE NATION ONE PEOPLE ONE SRI LANKA. Let's show the world that we are not poor as humans. When it was much needed they came with a full team. They request all other countries to support Sri Lanka. They help to divert the attention to Sri Lankan tourism in a good way. They request the world to visit Sri Lanka and support Sri Lanka. Most importantly they "PUT A SMILE BACK ON OUR FACES", the message is conveyed via social media to all fans arriving for the match on Friday. Australians came to Sri Lanka in the most difficult time in the country and not just for 3 games but for a whole tour with the A team as well. The host team has already won the ODI series. 

Sports Bulletin Report ABBOTTABAD:-The 5th edition of Pakistan Blinds’ Cricket Council (PBCC) Blind Cricket T-20 Super League 2022 commenced with the opening day victories of Sindh and Balochistan, as they defeated Punjab and Khyber PakhtunKawa (KPK) respectively by 8 wickets at Ayub Medical College Cricket Ground, Abbottabad. Four (4) provincial teams Sindh, Punjab, KPK and Balochistan are fighting for the title. Legendary Pakistan Cricket Star Abdul Razzaq inaugurated the event by hitting the ball. He was accompanied by Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, Dr. Umer Farooq, Dean, Ayub Medical College and Sardar Shuja Nabi, City Mayor Abbottabad. Day-1 Game-1 Sindh beat Punjab by 8 wickets: Due to overnight rain and wet outfield umpires decided to reduce the match to 12 overs per innings. Sindh won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Punjab team made 120 for 7 runs in allotted 12 overs. Zafar Iqbal was the highest scorer with 36 runs and Sanwal made 16 runs. Babar and Salman grabbed 1 wicket each. Sindh, in reply chased down the target in 11.1 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Mohammad Faisal shined with the bat and played a superb inning of unbeaten 60 runs, helped his side to beat Punjab by 8 wickets. Mohammad Salman was the second highest scorer with 16 runs. Sajid took 1 wicket. Result: Sindh won by 8 Wickets Man of the Match: Mohammad Faisal Game-2: Balochistan beat KPK by 8 wickets: Balochistan won the toss and put KPK in to bat first. Balochistan bowling didn’t allow KPK batters to score runs fluently. KPK were restricted to 104 runs in allotted 12 overs by losing their 5 wickets. Moeen Aslam played beautifully for his 39 runs and Matiullah scored 28 runs. Mohsin Khan and Kamran took 1 wicket each. The target of 105 runs wasn’t proved tough to the robust batting lineup of Balochistan and they chased down quite easily in 10.4 over for the loss of 2 wickets. Riasat Khan was the top scorer for Balochistan who scored 38 runs while Bismillah & Badar made 27 and 14 not out runs respectively. Shahzeb fetched 1 wicket for KPK. BIPIN DANI The family of Sri Lankan batting all-rounder Charith Asalanka has a reason to celebrate his 25th birthday (which falls on June 29) one week in advance. The middle order left-hand batter registered his very first hundred in international cricket on Tuesday. "We are overjoyed with his maiden hundred", Charith's girl-friend, Kavindika, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo, said on Wednesday morning. "Interestingly, June 29 is a significant day in his life. Last year he made his international debut on his birthday day (ODI against England at Chester-Le-Street)". Charith's first international hundred was witnessed by his family at the ground. "Charith's parents (father : Vijith Priyanth (businessman), mother (Tanuja, housewife) and two siblings (brother and sister) were at the ground. I could not go but watched the match at my home with Charith's one of the other sisters", the girl-friend, who has known Charith for the last ten years added. "The presence of his family at the R Premadasa Stadium was enough support for my boy-friend to hit the ton" Charith's parents have been very supportive. Even Charith's younger brother (Hiruk), who is studying now plays good cricket and is a future star. Charith's late grand-father had a dream to see his grand-children to play cricket for the country", Kavindika added. Charith's first coach at school, Dhanushka Denagama is hoping many more centuries from his ward. "I hope he will be the team leader in the future. His innings on Tuesday reminded me of his childhood day", the coach said. Incidentally, Charith's father could not resist thanking Dhanushka the day after his son was instrumental in the unbeaten series win. "His father called me and thanked me for making his son a world class player", the coach signed off.

After today’s announcement, the PCB has unveiled all 93 City Cricket Association sides (Balochistan 13, Central Punjab 19, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 19, Northern 11, Sindh 17 and Southern Punjab 14). The tournament has already commenced in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. Central Punjab, Northern and Southern Punjab will host matches from Friday, 24 June. The tournament will conclude on 21 July. Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Leg-spinner Yasir Shah marks his return to the national men’s side as chief selector Muhammad Wasim today announced an 18-member squad for next month’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Yasir was instrumental in Pakistan’s 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka on their last tour of the island in 2015, snaring 24 wickets at 19.33. He comes back into the side after regaining full fitness. Yasir played his 46th and last Test, to date, against the West Indies in August 2021. Salman Ali Agha, who has scored 4,224 runs and taken 88 wickets in first-class, is another addition to the squad. Mohammad Nawaz is the third player to be recalled. He was named in the squad for Australia Tests but was withdrawn due to injury. The squad was named for the latest ICC World Test Championship fixtures include three openers, four middle-order batters, three all-rounders, two wicketkeepers, two spinners and four fast bowlers. Pakistan squad for Sri Lanka Tests: Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Rizwan (vice-captain, wicketkeeper), Abdullah Shafique, Azhar Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Afridi, Shan Masood and Yasir Shah Chief selector Mohammad Wasim said: “We have selected this squad considering the conditions in Sri Lanka and have equipped the team with the best possible resources. “Our spin department is boosted with the return of Yasir Shah, who proved himself as a match-winner in Sri Lanka on our last tour and Sajid Khan has made the way for him. The spin department also includes  two spin all-rounders in Mohammad Nawaz and Salman Ali Agha and left-arm orthodox Nauman Ali.. “Salman Ali Agha has shown consistent performances with the bat in the past three seasons and he is a handy off-spin option. “Our team has recently put strong performances in Bangladesh and although results against Australia were not ideal we displayed solid cricket and for that reason we have retained the core to instil consistency and continuity and have trimmed the squad size following the relaxation in Covid-19-induced travel restrictions. “These two matches are extremely crucial for our side as we have World Test Championship points at stake. I wish our boys all the best and I am sure they will make us proud.” Babar Azam’s side will converge in Islamabad on 25 June to finalise their preparations for the Test series at the Pindi Cricket Stadium with a seven-day camp that stretches from 26 June to 2 July before departing for Sri Lanka on 6 July. Pakistan will play a three-day warm-up match between 11-13 July. The first Test will be played at Galle from 16 July, while the second Test will be staged at Colombo from 24 July. For Pakistan, who are on the fifth spot, this series is their final away commitment of the current ICC World Test Championship cycle, which stretches from July 2021 to June 2023, and they will be eager to improve their position on the table by repeating the same result as last time with a series win. Pakistan have played three series in the current cycle and with wins in three Tests and two draws are ranked fifth in the nine-team table. Babar Azam’s men levelled the two-Test series in the West Indies, defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in their second away assignment before Australia edged out with a 1-0 victory in Pat Cummins’ side’s historic tour of the country. In the upcoming 2022-23, Pakistan are set to host England and New Zealand for three and two Tests in a bumper home international season. Sports Bulletin Report Dubai (UAE):-The South African duo have advanced in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings after fine contributions with the bat in their final ICC Women’s Championship clash against Ireland. Wolvaardt, who became No. 1 in March this year during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, is up one place to fourth position after scoring 89 runs in the third ODI in Dublin. Luus, who top-scored with 93 in that match, is up two places to a career-best 21st position in the list led by Alyssa Healy of Australia. Lara Goodall has gained 15 slots and is 43rd after topping the series aggregate with 143 runs and Andrie Steyn is up 16 places to 67th in other notable movements for South Africa batters. Meanwhile, fast bowler Shabnim Ismail has achieved a career-best 755 rating points after a Player of the Series effort of 11 wickets. Ismail though remains in second position, which is her career best, and is 16 points adrift of England spinner Sophie Ecclestone. Medium-pacer Ayabonga Khaka is up two places to a career best-equaling fifth position while spinners Luus (up two places to 37th) and Chloe Tryon (up six places to 50th) have also progressed in Tuesday’s weekly rankings update after South Africa’s 3-0 series win. For Ireland, wicketkeeper Mary Waldron is up five places to 74th among batters and leg-spinner Cara Murray has moved from 91st to joint-82nd among bowlers. In the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, Esha Oza of the United Arab Emirates has advanced three places to a career-best 33rd position after some handy scores in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s T20 Championship in Malaysia. Others to advance during the period include Uganda players Kevin Awino (up 34 places to 66th) and Janet Mbabazi (up six places to 69th) among batters, and Sarah Akiteng (up 14 places to 66th) among bowlers, after featuring in the Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Rwanda.

BIPIN DANI Vishmi Gunaratna, a 16-year old girl, who had to miss the last Pakistan tour because of her O-Level examination, has returned to the national squad, it is learnt here. A student of Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya in Gampaha who had scored 417 in an Under-19 schools' cricket match against Jayasiripura Kanishta Vidyalaya earlier this year came into the lime light. The team management may not have yet decided whether to include her in the final XI for the first  women's T-20i match against India to be played in Dambulla this week. This will be her first match against India, if picked in the final eleven. The 19-member squad, which has been approved by the sports minister, has also the new comer. Rashmi Silva, the leg spinner is from Vishmi's school. Kawshi Nuthyangana the wicket keeper, batter, who has also not played any international cricket so for is practicing with the other 18 players on Dambulla since last week.
