Andy Murray has 'no chance' of winning another Grand Slam, according to Goran Ivanisevic Sports Desk ISLAMABAD:-Andy Murray has "no chance" of winning another Grand Slam title, according to former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic. The former world No 1 recently revealed he contemplated retirement a matter of weeks before winning the European Open in Antwerp last month. But gaining more confidence during tournaments in Zhuhai, Beijing and Shanghai, the Scot produced a remarkable level of consistency to win in Belgium - his first title since 2017. Although he was only able to compete in one match for Great Britain at last week's Davis Cup, Murray confirmed he was "ahead of where I expected to be at this stage" with regard to his hip. Ivanisevic, who is the current coach of Novak Djokovic, was brutally honest in his assessment of three-time Grand Slam champion ever winning a major again.

Russia cleared to compete at Euro 2020 despite threat of four-year sports ban Sport Desk ISLAMABAD:-Russia will be able to compete in Euro 2020 next summer even if a four-year ban from sporting events comes into effect. Investigators from the World Anti-Doping Agency found inconsistencies in laboratory data obtained from the Russian anti-doping agency in January and WADA's independent compliance review committee is recommending Russia be barred from hosting and competing in major international events for four years. However, it is understood that next summer's football European Championship, which Russia have qualified for and where St Petersburg will serve as one of 12 host cities, will not be affected even if WADA's executive committee and the Court of Arbitration back the proposed sanctions.

Middle-order batsman Usman Salahuddin was not out on 29 from 118 balls. He hit two fours and a six. Fawad, Sarfaraz score big hundreds against Southern Punjab
Fawad, Sarfaraz score big hundreds against Southern Punjab SB News Islamabad 27 November 2019: Fawad Alam scored a double hundred and captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed a century as Sindh grinded down Southern Punjab on day-three of the four-day day first-class ninth-round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at the National Stadium on Wednesday. Fawad stroked his way to the fourth double century of his career making (211 from 309 balls) while Sarfaraz (131 from 174 balls) scored his first hundred in domestic cricket in five-years to put together a big partnership of 278 runs for the fifth wicket. Their partnership allowed Sindh to end on 486 in response to Southern’s 517 for 9 declared. Fawad achieved another personal milestone when he also crossed 12,000 first-class runs. Their stand effectively ended any hopes that the Southern team harboured of forcing a result in the match and trying to grab second spot in the points table when Sindh resumed on 142 for three this morning. The two forged their alliance and took Sindh to 253 for four at lunch after overnight batsman, Saad Ali fell early adding just four runs to his overnight score as he was caught for 60 from 106 balls on the bowling of Bilawal Bhatti who finished with four for 82. But Saad’s overnight partner, Fawad who resumed on 60 showed no intentions of giving up his wicket and he found an able partner in his captain as their century partnership came from just 138 balls in 107 minutes. Southpaw Fawad who is a prolific scorer in first-class cricket with an imposing batting average of 56 completed his third century of the season after lunch. Sarfaraz who last scored a century in domestic first-class cricket for PIA against ZTBL way back in 2014 was more aggressive reaching his hundred from 119 balls with 12 fours. As the two batted together the Southern bowlers wilted on an unresponsive pitch and even the second new ball didn’t produce the desired results for pacers, Bilawal, Zia-ul-Haq and Umaid Asif. Eventually it was the tall left-arm spinner, Muhammad Irfan who broke through when bowling consistently round the wicket he got one to bounce more from a bowlers run-up patch and Sarfaraz going forward to play a defensive shot top edged to the bowler. Sarfaraz’s innings of 131 spanned 174 balls and included 13 fours. Fawad, however, found Anwar Ali (28) to be a good partner and carried on reaching his double hundred by hitting off-spinner, Agha Salman to deep mid-wicket for a four to reach his personal milestone. He was finally caught at deep mid-on trying to hit the same shot against Irfan as his innings included 25 fours. Bilawal than trapped Hassan Khan leg before for nine and also picked up Anwar caught  at first slip and Waleed Ahmed to hasten an end to the Sindh innings while last man Shahnawaz Dhani was run out. Both teams took the 5 bonus points for batting as they scored 400 plus in their 110 overs. Scores in brief: Southern Punjab 517 for 9 declared, 133.3 overs (Zeeshan Ashraf 133, Adnan Akmal 107 not out, Sohaib Maqsood 81; Anwer Ali 5-75, Hassan Khan 2-110) Sindh 486 all out, 132 overs (Fawad Alam 211, Sarfaraz Ahmed 131, Saad Ali 60; Zia-ul-Haq 3-105, Muhammad Irfan 2-129)

Shah Hussain Shah Jumps up five more steps
Shah Hussain Shah Jumps up five more steps Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (November 27, 2019):In his pursuit for the place for Tokyo 2020, while playing in Osaka Grand Slam, Olympian Judoka Shah Hussain Shah reached to 39th position in recently updated Olympic ranking list. According to Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), this is ever highest any South Asian judoka could earn.  He lost against world number 4 and world champion of 2017 Aaron Wolf from Japan in pre quarterfinal. He secured 160 points in this highest level of contest after World championship. With this he accumulated 904 points thus far ahead of his rivals of this Asian continent. Col (Retd) Junaid Alam, President PJF expressed entire satisfaction over his unprecedented marvelous performance. “Pakistan Judo Federation is holding all his expenditure of his Olympic run by giving him full priority. We are not sending anyone else anywhere other than Shah who is being sent alone even without coach, “he said. “Judo qualifying for Olympic is unlike other sports where there are 3-4 Olympic qualifiers, contested by an athlete or a team. Here it is entirely a different game which poor federations simply cannot afford. A Federation has to field him in maximum number of IJF Calendar events of last 2 years qualifying period with each having different weightage. Usually there are more than 10 events in half of a year.  If you miss any event the others get full benefit and their ranking go up against you. In last four months, he was sent by PJF to participate in 7 different championships round the globe, “he said. It is pertinent to mention here that Shah had missed Australian Grand Prix Nov 2019 due to visa issue. In start of next year he would suffer another setback as the first Grand Slam is being held in Israel, which he cannot participate due to obvious reason. This is likely to harm his standing, but nothing could be done in this regard. However PJF has planned to send him to a 6 weeks tour of Europe in Feb to March where he would not only attend IJF training Camp but will also participate in all grand prix and grand slam tournaments. In this crucial time unfortunately, there is no support from any quarter so far despite so many requests to all concerned. Even routine monetary grants given to the National Federations were stopped due to ongoing sports reforms. However, on request of President PJF as well as Shah’s father (Boxing Legend Olympic medalist Hussain Shah) one month ago, Federal Minister IPC Fahmida Mirza has reportedly approved 1.5 million RS for his participation in qualifiers from August to December 2019 but nothing is released so far.  Same way, there is no sponsor found as these are usually attracted to the popular sports like cricket, football, hockey and Kabaddi.
