PCB appoints Nadeem Khan selection committee coordinator
SB Report LAHORE:-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test spinner Nadeem Khan as Coordinator – National Selection Committee on Thursday. According to media department of PCB, Nadeem will act as a bridge between chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq and the six selectors by gathering feedback, information and maintaining players’ profile from the domestic matches, and presenting to the selection committee so that the data can be used in their decision-making. Nadeem will neither be part of the national selection committee nor will have a say in selection matters. Part of Nadeem’s responsibilities will require domestic traveling, watching local matches, keeping a track and preparing reports on high-performing players, and speaking with the six city association coaches on a regular basis. PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan said: “We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Nadeem Khan and welcome him to the PCB family. Nadeem is one of the most respected cricketers and is admired for his overall cricket knowledge, insight of domestic cricket and ability to speak openly, frankly and honestly. “When we had unveiled Misbah-ul-Haq as chief selector and head coach, we had stated we will provide all necessary support to allow Misbah to fulfill his responsibilities and achieve his objectives and targets. Nadeem’s appointment is a testament to that statement.” About Nadeem Khan: ·         The 49-year-old played two Tests, two ODIs and 153 first-class matches in a career spanning between 1987 and 2002 ·         He has served on the national selection committee in the 2016-17 season ·         He has managed Pakistan U19 sides in two Asia Cups and an ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in 2018-19. ·         He is an ECB certified Level II coach ·         He has previously worked as head coach at the Michael Vaughan Academy and Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club from 2008-10 ·         He presently heads the UBL Sports Complex

Tennis: Shoaib and Huzaifa reach in the Boys Singles final
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD-The Second seed Huzaifa Abdul Rehman (PAK) and 6th Seed Shoaib Khan (PAK) will face each other for the top honor in the Boy’s Singles final whereas defending Champion Aysegul Mert (TUR) will face Soo Ha Jang (KOR) in Girls Singles final after beating their respective opponents in straight sets matches of second leg of the ITF Pakistan Junior World Ranking Tennis Championships PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Thursday. Unseeded Soo Ha Jang (KOR) caused a major upset when she eliminated 3rd Seed Arina Valitova (RUS) in a well contested, well fought two sets match. In the first set, Arina Valitova built up the lead 3-1 by breaking 3rd game  of Soo Ha Jang (KOR) , she leveled the score 5-5 all by breaking 10th game of Arina and won the 1st set at 7-5 by breaking the last game of Arina at 0-40 in which Arina hitting one double fault. In the second set there was close contest and long rallies was witnessed during the set and secore went up to 4-4all and both the players hold their respective serve. Soo Ha once again played some fine down the line shorts and won the second set at 6-4 by breaking 10th game of Arina and moved into the Girls Singles final.  In the other semi final Aysegul Mert (TUR) was in excellent touch and eliminated her opponents in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. The final of Girls Singles between Top seed Aysegul Mert (TUR) and Soo Ha Jang (KOR) will be played tomorrow Friday 18th October 2019 at 2:30 PM. In the first semi final of Boys singles, the 6th Seed Shoaib Khan struggle hard to win his encounter against unseeded Gunuk Kang (KOR) in three sets match. Gunuk Kang won the first set at 6-4 by breaking 10th game of Shoaib Khan. In the second set both the players showed world class tennis and number of winners down the line and cross courts were seen by the spectators and score reached 4-4all in the second set as both players hold their respective serves, at 5-4 Gunuk caught set point and match point Shoaib not only save the match point but broke his game and level the score 5-5all and won the second set at 7-5 by breaking last game of Gunuk Kang. In the final set Shoaib Khan was in full command and did not allow his opponent to settle down and won the set at 6-1 by breaking 3rd and 5th game of Gunuk of Korea. The match lasted 2 hurs and officiate by Rashid Ali. Shoaib Khan will face Huzaifa Abdul Rehman (PAK) in the Boys Final  In the second semi final Huzaifa Abdul Rehman registered straight set win without any resistance at score of 6-1, 6-1 against Min-Joon KIM (KOR). The Boys Singles Final will be played tomorrow Friday 18th October 2019 at 10:45 AM  The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) is pleased to inform that Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan President Pakistan Tennis Federation visited PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad today to witness the ITA-SNGPL ITF PAKISTAN JUNIOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS-2019 and especially the match between Shoaib Khan (PAK) and Gunuk KANG (KOR), which Shoaib won by exhibiting some excellent performance and was in full command of the match. The President also interacted with the foreign players, and their parents/coaches. The foreign players and their parents as usual showed great satisfaction with the conduct of the event and specially were full of appreciation for playing on the state of the art courts in such beautiful surroundings and environment. The players and coaches were also very impressed with the hospitality and friendly attitude of the Pakistanis. Tennis, Salim and Abbas visit Indian
SB Report ISLAMABAD-A delegation of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), comprising Mr. Salim Saifullah Khan, President PTF, Senator Dilawar Abbas Vice President Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and Tariq Murtaza, President Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA), will be visiting Bangalore, India, to attend the Annual General Meeting of ATF, which will be taken place at Bangalore, India, from November 29 to December 1, 2019. The President PTF, while commenting on the ATF AGM said, "Pakistan delegation is proceeding to India, because we feel that sports should be above the politics and in this spirit the Indian Davis Cup Tennis team should visit Islamabad for the Davis Cup Tie between Pakistan and India at the end November 2019.The Indian team would be provided all possible hospitality and security during the visit. The security arrangements of PTF have already been approved by ITF requirements. We have already hosted several Davis Cup teams during the past two years and the arrangements were highly appreciated by ITF Officials who visited Islamabad supervising the ties, " he maintained. It is pertinent to mention here that the current visit of the members of Royal family of United Kingdom and this clearly signified that the security situation in the country is of high standard.

Pakistan U-19 team to leave for Beijing tonight
Abdullah Asjad ISLAMABAD:-Pakistan Under-19 cricket team will leave for Beijing, China, on Wednesday evening to play friendly matches against the home and Afghanistan Under-19 squads. The 12-player squad will be captained by Mohammad Harris Khan, while Saim Ayub will be his vice-captain. Pakistan U19 team will play China on Saturday, 19 October and Afghanistan on Sunday, 20 October. A combined Afghanistan and Pakistan side will play China on Wednesday, 23 October. Pakistan squad will return home on Thursday, 24 October. The tour has been has been arranged by the Chinese government and the purpose of these matches is to strengthen the mutual communication, understanding and friendship between China, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Sindh beat KPK by eight runs
Sports Bulletin Report FAISALABAD-Sindh beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) by eight runs and secured their second win in the ongoing National T20 Cup at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. The Asad Shafiq-led side scored 176 runs for the loss of six wickets after they were asked to bat. The opening pair of Khurram Manzoor and Ahsan Ali provided a solid foundation with an 83-run opening stand in 10.1 overs. The partnership ended with the dismissal of Khurram, who scored 35 off 32 with five fours. But, Ahsan kept going from the other end and cracked a brilliant 37-ball 64, hitting eight fours and three sixes. The 25-year-old was later named man-of-the-match. One-drop batsman Saad Ali was the other notable scorer with 20 off 18. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had used five bowlers and all picked up a wicket each. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wobbled earlier in the chase as they were 48 for three in 5.5 overs due to two back-to-back wickets of Fakhar Zaman (15 off 11) and Mohammad Mohsin, who registered a golden duck, off Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling in the fifth over of the innings. A 52-run partnership for the fourth-wicket between captain Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed denied any further inroads to Sindh bowlers. Rizwan kept the contest alive till the very last over, scoring 43-ball 70, before he was dismissed on the third ball of the last over. The wicketkeeper-batsman struck six fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease. Anwar Ali was the pick of the bowlers for Sindh, taking three wickets for 30 runs in three overs. KPK and Central Punjab register first wins in National T20
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded their first win in the National T20 2nd XI tournament at the National Stadium, Karachi on Wednesday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who had lost their opening two matches outplayed hosts Sindh by six wickets, this was Sindh’s first defeat in the tournament. Central Punjab, who like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had lost their first two matches, won their first match of the event, overcoming Balochistan by 57 runs.   In the first match on Wednesday, Sindh were put into bat by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the home side scored 169 for six in their 20 overs. Middle-order batsmen Mohammad Waqas (36) and Ramiz Aziz (34) were the main contributors. Danish Aziz scored an unbeaten 26 off 15 balls with the help of three fours and one six. Sajid Khan took two wickets for 28 runs. Gohar Ali’s 28-ball 49 and Nabi Gul’s 44 took Khyber Pakhtunkhwa past the target in 17.2 overs. Gohar hit two sixes and six fours in his innings while Nabi continued his impressive form in the tournament with a 28-ball effort that included four fours and one six. Left-arm pacer Ghulam Muddasar took three wickets for 31 runs for Sindh. Central Punjab opted to bat first and posted 198 for six. Their total was built on a 97-run stand between Nauman Anwar (62 off 36 balls, six fours and four sixes) and Mohammad Saad (66 off 46 balls, four fours and three sixes). Zahid Mansoor remained unbeaten on 39 off 22 balls, his stroke-filled innings included three sixes and one four. Balochistan captain Akbar-ur-Rehman took three wickets while Khurram Shehzad took two wickets. In reply, Balochistan were restricted to 141 for eight. Ibtisam Sheikh top-scored with an unbeaten 46 off 25 balls, Jalat Khan scored 29 runs. Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD-A major upset was caused by 5th Seed Shoaib Khan (PAK) when he eliminated top seed Daniel Webb (GBR) in a thrilling and exciting 1st quarterfinal of the ITF Pakistan Junior World Ranking Tennis Championships at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Wednesday. In the Boys Singles fixture, 5th Seed Shoaib Khan (PAK) caused a major upset of the tournament when he eliminated top seed Daniel Webb (GBR) in a thrilling three hours and 15 minutes match. Both the players displayed quality tennis and was appreciated by the large number of crowd. The score went up to 5-5 all in the first set Daniel Webb won the first set at 7-5 by breaking 12th game of 1st set after three deuce. In the second set Shoaib Khan build up the winning lead 3-1 by breaking 3rd game of Daniel in which he made two double fault. Daniel start attacking and build up the lead 5-3 by breaking 6th and 8th game of Shoaib Khan. Pakistani player level the score 5-5all by breaking 9th game of Daniel Webb and second set was decided in tie break which won by Shoaib Khan at 7-4 after down 2-4 in the tie break. Shoaib Khan was in full command in the final set and did not allow his opponent to settle down with his powerful forehand and backhand drives and won the final set at 6-1 by breaking 3rd, 5th and 7th game of Daniel Webb and advanced into the Semi final Later on, the 2nd Seed Huzaifa Abdul Rehman (PAK) won his encounter against 8th seed of Ahmed Kamil of Pakistan in straight sets 6-4 6-2.  3rd Seed Kim Min-Joon (KOR) proved too good for Saqib Hayat (PAK) and eliminated in straight sets 6-3 6-2 and will face Huzaifa Abdul Rehman in second semi final. In the last quarter final Kang Gunuk (KOR) was in also excellent form and eliminated Muhammad Nauman Aftab of Pakistan without too much resistance at score of 6-1, 6-1 and will face Shoaib Khan (PAK) in the first semi final. In the girls singles event, Aysegul Mert (TUR), Choi Ji-Woo (KOR), Valitova Arina (RUS) and unseeded Jang Soo Ha (KOR) advanced into the semi final by eliminating their respective opponents in straight sets. International Badminton Tournament from November 7 at Islamabad
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Secretary, Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali Choudhary announced on Wednesday that capital city Islamabad would hosts 13-nation international badminton event next month in the premises of Pakistan Sports Complex. While talking to media representatives in a press conference here at Media Center of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) he further said that the fixture will be held from November 7 to 10 this year 2019, as there would be five categories including Men's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women Singles, Women's Double and Mixed Double in the four days international badminton fixture. "All matches will be played at Rodham Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex, "he maintained. Wajid said that PBF had written to government for financial support but still waiting for response. "Yonex is our title sponsor and they will provide us all equipment and prize money of US$10,000, which will be distributed according to World Badminton Federation's rules, "he said. While replying a question secretary PBF said that Asian Badminton Federation (ABF) was also providing $8000 financial support for this international fixture. "However, our estimated budget is around Rs.3.5 millions. It will a great achievement for holding this international event in the capital city of the country, "he viewed. "Around 50 players including hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan, Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, Iran, Iraq Morocco, Cheek Republic and other countries will show their power in the Yonex Sunrise Pakistan Series International Badminton Tournament 2019, "he concluded.

Wahab Riaz leads Southern Punjab to four-wicket win over KPK
Sports Bulletin Report FAISALABAD:-Wahab Riaz’s three for 28 with the ball and an unbeaten 17-ball 42 secured a four-wicket win for Southern Punjab over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium in the sixth match of the National T20 Cup on Tuesday. Wahab took the wickets of Sahibzada Farhan (27 off 19), Adil Amin (7 off 12) and Iftikhar Ahmad (0 off 2) to leave Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reeling at 51 for four in 8.5 overs. That Khyber Pakhtunkhwa managed a respectable score was due an 83-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan and Khushdil Shah Rizwan scored 45 off 40 balls, hitting four fours and a six, while Khushdil cracked an unbeaten 32-ball 56, embellished with five fours and three sixes. Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Irfan picked up a wicket each as they gave 31 and 19 runs, respectively. Southern Punjab floundered in the first half of the chase with half of their batting lineup back in the pavilion in 8.5 overs with only 51 runs on board as Mohammad Mohsin took three wickets. But with his unbeaten 49 off 35 balls, which included four fours and a six, Saif Badar weathered the storm. He crafted a 55-run stand with Aamer (15 off 10). Four Pakistan women to attend ACC coaching course
Our Sports Reporter LAHORE:-The involvement and participation of Pakistani women in mainstream cricket continues to increase as four women have registered for a three-day ACC Level 1 Women Coaching Course, which will be held in Lahore from 17 to 19 October. Women registered for the first step in future coaching roles include Abbottabad’s Atika Sabir Khan, Lahore’s Fareeha Mahmood, Shehla Bibi from Wah Cantt and Tasleem Bano from the Gaizer district of Gilgit Baltistan. Fareeha is a current Pakistan international who featured in three T20Is against Sri Lanka in March 2018. Other participants in the course, first of its kind, include representatives from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Iran, Kuwait (two), Malaysia, Maldives, Oman (two) and United Arab Emirates. Ali Zia, Senior General Manager – National Cricket Academy, and also a course instructor course said: “We have already organized two Level-2 courses in the past. The feedback given by ACC to PCB was commendable and it was marked as the best-ever organized so far. “There is a certain standard set for the course, the participants will gain great benefit from the course, as it will provide them with an opportunity to go back to their countries and train young girls. “The ACC’s Test playing countries are always there in development of the associate countries and will continue to play an active role in future.” Sultan Rana, ACC’s Events and Development Manager, said: “ACC is working with its member countries in the development of the game in the region. The ACC takes pride in hosting its inaugural women’s level-1 course at NCA.  The initiative was taken in the ACC’s Development Committee meeting, which was chaired by Chairman PCB Mr Ehsan Mani. Our purpose is to encourage more girls in this game, and the course will provide an opportunity to inspire them.
