Begum Kulsum Tennis Tournament: Sarah set her clash with Noor in final
Men’s and Women’s finals on Saturday, Aqeel and Mohammad Shoaib win semifinals

ISLAMABAD: Sarah Mahboob and Noor Malik set their clash in the Ladies’ Singles final of the 8th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Tournament after beating their rivals in straight sets 2-0 Natalia Zaman and Meheq Khokhar respectively here at PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Friday.
Later on, in the Men’s Singles semifinals top seed Aqeel Khan and Mohammad Shoaib registered victories to move into the final, as the both men’s and women’s finals will be played on Saturday at the same venue.
In the first semi-final, Aqeel Khan outclassed Muzammil Murtaza in straight sets, whereas Mohammad Shoaib thrashed Mohammad Abid to set up the Men's singles final. The Ladies Singles final will be played at 11:00 am while men's Singles final will be played at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Senator Salim Saifullah Khan President-PTF and Anwar Saifullah Khan (former Federal Minister) visited PTF Complex today to witness the semifinals of men’s singles and met Pakistan's international star Aisam ul Haq Qureshi.

ISLAMABAD: Top seed, Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Mohammad Abid, and Muzammil Murtaza qualified for the Men’s Singles semifinals after winning their respective matches at the 8th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2022 at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) – Syed Dilawar Abbas (SDA) Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue here on Thursday. The semifinals will be played on Friday at the same venue.
On Thursday, all the top-ranking players Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Mohammad Abid, and Muzammil Murtaza claimed easy triumphs after outplaying their challengers in straight sets 2-0. All winners conceded a maximum two games in each set of the four quarterfinals. Pakistan number one Aqeel Khan defeated Abdullah Adnan at 6-1, 6-2.
Muzammil Murtaza beat Yousaf Khalil with the score-line of 6-2 and 6-1. Mohammad Abid thrashed Sami Zeb Khan 6-0, 6-1. Mohammad Shoaib, winners of 8th Benazir Bhutto National Tennis Championship, overcame Mudassir Murtaza 2-0 at 6-2 and 6-2 in the penultimate quarterfinal of the national ranking tennis fixture.
Meanwhile, in the Ladies’ Singles, Meheq Khokhar overcame Mehvish Chishtie 6-3, 6-3 and winner of the last national tournament Sarah Mahboob stunned Amna Ali Qayum at 6-2, 6-0. Later on, Noor Malik overwhelmed Kainat Ali without conceding a single game at 6-0, 6-0. Tall girl Natalia Zaman toiled hard to overcome Esha Jawad, as she could not comntine her game due to injury. The final score-line was 3-6, 6-4 and 4-2(Retd) of the last quarterfinal.
President, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Senator Salim Saifullah Khan visited PTF Complex today to witness some of the matches and he appreciated the standard of the players and especially interacted with young promising players. He encouraged and motivated them to work hard to raise the flag of Pakistan at the international level.

Haniya creates history by qualifying for semifinals at Orange Bowl

LAHORE: Haniya Minhas has become one of the most skilled players after qualifying for semi-finals at the Orange Bowl Tennis Championship. This comes as a pride and milestone victory for Pakistan and BARD Foundation to witness Haniya at her best in one of the most challenging international tournaments.
Prior to securing her spot in the semi-finals at Orange Bowl, over 2000 players participated at Eddie Herr Junior Championship where Haniya Minhas secured a bronze for Pakistan among 90 countries. Haniya joined IMG for training on 22 August 2022 that was followed by a continuous series of remarkable successes at Little Mo International Championship in New York, USA, USTA National under 14 Tennis Championship in Florida, L5 Under 16 National Tennis Championship in the United States, Under 14 National Tennis Championships in Coral Springs, Florida and USTA Under 16 Girls National Championship Final in Florida, USA.

ISLAMABAD: Rising tennis lad, Abdullah Adnan brushed aside heavyweight Barkatullah 2-1 to confirm his place in the quarterfinal of the Men’s Singles of the 8th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2022 here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex on Wednesday. The final score-line was 6-2, 3-6 and 6-2.
Also, top seed Aqeel Khan, Sami Zeb Khan, Mohammad Abid, Muzammil Murtaza, Yousaf Khalil, Mudassir Murtaza and Moham,mad Shoaib have moved into the quarterfinals after defeating their respective opponents. The quarterfinals will be played on Thursday at the same venue.

ISLAMABAD: Rising tennis lad, Sami Zeb Khan outplayed Heera Ashiq 2-1 in the men’s singles discipline of the 8th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Tournament here at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) - Syed Dilawar Abbas (SDA) Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue on Tuesday. The final score-line was 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-4.
Sami Zeb Khan and Heera Ashiq displayed feisty tennis at the beginning of the match, as both players locked their horns by playing powerful forehand and backhand drives from down the line. The first set advanced neck-to-neck and Heera finished it on a tie-break and earned a vital lead of 1-0.
After going down, Sami Zeb changed his strategy in the second set and played a superb game, and did not allow Heera to settle his feet on the court. Zeb was also good in serves and hit winners a number of times in the second set. Sami Zeb Khan leveled the match 1-1 after winning the set at 6-2.
Heera showed some resistance in the decisive set, however, Sami did not spare a single occasion to take the lead. Both players exhibited top-quality tennis in the third set, as Sami made a fine finish to exit his opponent from the men’s singles event of the prestigious national tennis tournament.
Senator Salim Saifullah Khan President-PTF was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was attended by Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, and a large number of players, parents, coaches, and officials of Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF).

Aisam to participate in the Begum Kulsum Tennis Tournament

ISLAMABAD (December 19, 2022): Ace tennis star, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshil will participate in the 8th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2022, as the event started with its qualifying round here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue on Monday.
Besides Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, Mohammad Abid, Barkatullah ,Shahzad Khan, Yousaf Khalil, Heera Ashiq, and top national tennis girls will take part in the national tennis showpiece.
According to an official, as many as 270 entries have been received in nine different categories including Men’s, Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Boys Under-18 Singles, Boys Under-14 Singles/ Doubles, Girls Under-14 Singles, Boys/Girls Under-12 Singles, and Seniors 45+ Doubles.
President-PTF Senator Salim Saifullah Khan visited PTF Complex today and witnessed some of the matches, interacted with the players and wished them good luck for the tournament. The President showed satisfaction with the overall arrangement for the successful conduct of the event.
Aisam-ul Haq Qureshi International tennis player of Pakistan has especially opted to participate in the subject event to pay tribute to the late Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan. His presence as always is a source of great inspiration and motivational factor for the young players.

Mohammad Shoaib notches Benazir Bhutto National Tennis crown

ISLAMABAD: Mohammad Shoaib notched the Men’s Singles title of the 8th Benazir Bhutto National Tennis Championship after overcoming Muzammil Murtaza 2-1 in the final here at Islamabad Tennis Complex on Sunday.
In the men’s singles, Mohammad Shoaib and Muzammil Murtaza started the final with powerful strokes and classic drop shots, as both players broke the services twice until the first set went up at 6-6. Muzammil missed a set point when he was ahead at 6-5 and the 11th game saw four deuced, as Shoaib won the game and 12th too to win the set at 7-5.
After going down, 0-1, Muzammil changed the shirt and tactics too. He showed his peak form and played bravely, as his opponent Mohammad Shaoib made some unforced errors and many times hit the ball in the net. Muzammil finished the game 6-1 to bounce back into the match. In the final set, Mohammad Shaoib was looking careful and did not go on finishing. The third set was leveled at 4-4, at this stage Mohammad Shoaib broke the serve of his opponent and held his own serve to end the match with the score-line of 7-5, 1-6, and 6-4.
Earlier, in the women’s final, top seed Sarah Mehbood quashed Esha Javed 2-0 in straight sets, as she conceded only a single game during the two sets.

ISLAMABAD: Heera Ashiq pairing with Yousaf Khalil have won the Men’s Doubles crown of the 8th Benazir Bhutto National Tennis Championship 2022 after overcoming Mohammad Shoaib and Barkat Ullah in a nerve-jangling final here at Islamabad Tennis Complex on Saturday. The final score-line was 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (4).
Both teams’ players exhibited top-quality tennis, as no one was ready to succumb till the last point. Two sets were decided on tie-break, as both pairs were in excellent form and playing great tennis.
Later, in men’s singles, Muzammil Murataza and Mohammad Shoaib qualified for the final, as in the first semifinal Muzammil Murtaza toppled top seed Aqeel Khan in straight sets with the score-line of 6-3 and 7-5.

KARACHI: The 4th Afeef Beach View Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship will be staged from December 24 to 30, 2022 at DHA Beach View Club Karachi under the banner of Sindh Tennis Association (STA) and Karachi Tennis Association (KTA).
According to an official, the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies’ Singles, Girls Under-15 Singles, Under- 17 Singles and Wheelchair Men’s Singles competitions will be held during the 6-day fixture.
Organizers also added few local events to promote young players of the city including Under-17 Singles, Under-15 Doubles, Under-13 Singles, Under-11 Singles, Special Boys and Girls Singles.

Benazir Bhutto Tennis: Meheq, Soha, Sarah and Esha reach in semifinals

ISLAMABAD: Meheq Khokar, Soha Ali, Sarah Mehboob and Esha Javad moved into the Ladies’ Singles semifinals of the ongoing 8th Benazir Bhutto National Tennis Championship after winning their respective matches here at Islamabad Tennis complex on Friday.
In the men’s singles, Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murataza , Mohammad Abid, and, Mohammad Shoaib reached the men’s-singles semifinals by beating their respective opponents. Mohammad Abid toiled hard in the court to overcome his challenger Yusuf Khalil, who won the first game 7-5 and gave a tough time to Abid. The final score-line was 5-7, 6-3, and 6-1.
