Sports Bulletin ReportFAISALABAD: Attock, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Quetta earned victories on the opening day of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-2) after beating their respective opponents, which commenced at the two different venues here on Wednesday.Jalil ur Rehman Assistant Commissioner (General) Faisalabad, Rana Riaz Business Head & SVP NBP, Syed Sultan Shah Chairman PBCC & President World Blind Cricket Ltd, Tariq Nazir, Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad, Dr. Anwar Ali Sial Director Finance PBCC and Mohammad Bilal Director Cricket Operations PBCC were the guests at the opening ceremony.Attock beat Abbottabad by 10 wickets: (Bohranwali Ground):Attock won the toss and decided to bowl first. Abbottabad made just 147 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Naeemullah was their highest scorer with 57 runs off 40 balls. Mohammad Noman, Mohammad Haroon, Ehtisham ul Haq and Mohammad Sohail claimed a wicket a piece.In reply, Attock chased down the target in just 9.3 overs without losing a wicket. Mohammad Zeeshan played a brisk innings of 90 runs off 40 balls featuring 18 (4’s) while Ehtisham ul Haq made 38 runs. Mohammad Zeeshan got man of the match award.Sargodha beat Karachi by 8 wickets (HPC Centre Chak-8):In the 2nd match of the tournament, Sargodha won the toss and asked Karachi to bat first. Karachi made 170 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Shoaib Khan and Bismillah Khan made 30 and 26 runs respectively. Mohammad Abdullah was the only bowler to claim a wicket.In reply, Sargodha chased the target of 171 runs in 18.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Gul Shair played superbly for his 80 runs off 56 balls while Zain Ashraf made unbeaten 60 runs. Rashed Akbar claimed 1 wicket. Gul Shair got man of the match award.Faisalabad beat Sheikopura by 96 runs (Bohranwali Ground):Hosts Faisalabad won the toss and decided to bat first. Faisalabad made 273 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Ejaz Hussain played extraordinary well and scored a ton, he made 141 runs off 62 balls featuring 26 boundaries. Bilal Ali was the 2nd highest scorer with 57 runs off 36 balls. Sohaib Mehtab was the only bowler from Sheikhopura to claim a wicket.In reply, Sheikhopura couldn’t make the most of the batting friendly conditions and made just 177 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Raheel Ahmed made unbeaten 78* runs off 67 balls. For Faisalabad, Bilal Ahmed took 1 wicket. Ejaz Husain was declared man of the match.Quetta beat Gilgit-Baltistan by 174 runs (HPC Centre Chak-8):Quetta won the toss and elected to bat first. Naseebullah’s superb innings of 143 runs off 72 balls helped Quetta to set the gigantic total of 263 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Mohammad Saleem also made useful contribution of 70 runs off 51 balls. For Gilgit-Baltistan, Shoeb ul Hassan fetched 1 wicket.In reply, Gilgit Baltistan Scored only 89 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Muzaffar Ali was the top scorer with 23 runs off 25 balls. Wahab Riaz names 18-member squad for Australia tour
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Chief selector Wahab Riaz has announced an 18-member Pakistan Test squad for the tour to Australia comprising three matches scheduled from 14 December 2023 to 7 January 2024. This will be Wahab’s first assignment since he took charge of the national men’s selection committee last week.Shan Masood will be leading the side in his first assignment as Test captain. He was named Pakistan's captain for the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle after taking over the reins from Babar Azam last week.Left-handed opening batter Saim Ayub has earned his maiden call-up to the Test team after an impressive run in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24. The 22-year-old scored 553 runs in four matches for Karachi Whites and had three centuries to his name, including a match-winning double century against Faisalabad in the final of the tournament. He continued his form in the Pakistan Cup (one-day tournament), where he was named the best batter of the tournament, ending as the competition’s highest run-getter.Right-arm fast bowler Khurram Shahzad has also been awarded his maiden Test call-up, on the back of a successful domestic season thus far. The 23-year-old was the highest wicket-taker of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24 with 36 wickets in eight matches at an average of 20.31 and picked up 13 wickets at 16.62 in the recently concluded Pakistan Cup.Pace bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, who last appeared in Tests for Pakistan during England’s tour of Pakistan in late 2022 has returned to the squad.Left-arm pacer Mir Hamza, who registered 32 wickets at 20.88 in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023-24, and right-arm pacer Mohammad Wasim Jnr are making a return to the squad as well. PCB appoints Sohail Tanvir head of junior selection committee
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Member of the 2009 T20 World Cup wining squad and former Pakistan cricketer Sohail Tanvir has been appointed as head of the junior selection committee. Sohail made his international debut in 2007 and made two Test, 62 ODI and 57 T20I appearances for Pakistan. He picked up 130 wickets and scored 612 runs across the three formats.Sohail’s first assignment as chairperson of the junior selection committee will be the selection of the Pakistan U19 squad for the 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup scheduled to be held between 8 and 17 December in UAE. Pakistan U19 will later take part in the ICC U19 World Cup from 13 January to 4 February in Sri Lanka.Sohail Tanvir said: “I am truly honoured and grateful for the opportunity provided by Chairman PCB Management Committee Mr Zaka Ashraf to serve as head of the junior selection committee. World Cup 2023: Illingworth and Kettleborough to take charge of final

The 50-year-old previously stood alongside Kumar Dharmasena in the 2015 final, which saw Australia overcome New Zealand at the MCG.More than 93,000 spectators watched on that occasion and a three-figure crowd is expected tomorrow as the host nation look to replicate the Indian team of 2011 and lift the World Cup on home soil.Illingworth and Kettleborough, who were promoted to the ICC International List on the same day in November 2009, both acted as on-field umpires during this week’s semi-finals. Wahab Riaz to head national men's selection committee
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Former Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the chief selector of the national men’s selection committee. His first assignment will be the selection of the national men’s squad for the three-match Test series against Australia from 14 December to 7 January in Australia and the five-match T20I series against New Zealand from 12 to 21 January in New Zealand.Wahab, who made his international debut in 2008, represented Pakistan in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20Is picking up 237 wickets and scoring 1200 runs across the three formats. He was Pakistan’s second-most successful bowler in World Cups, registering 35 wickets across three editions of the marquee event.Wahab Riaz: “I am honoured to assume the role of chairperson for the national men's selection committee and I extend my gratitude to Chairman PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, for entrusting me with this responsibility. The decision to involve former players in cricketing matters is commendable and I am willing to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.“Heading a selection committee is a challenging task. Bahawalpur openers Mohammad Rashid and Moain Aslam gave them a brisk and solid start. Their first wicket fell at the score of 161 runs when Mohammad Rashid was run out after scoring 93 runs off 54 balls. Moain Aslam and Zafar Iqbal then made another formidable partnership. Bahawalpur posted a mammoth total of 231 runs on the board in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. The final will be played on Friday at the same venue.First semifinal (Bahawalpur beat AJK by 8 wickets):In the morning, Bahawalpur won the toss and decided to bowl first. Azad Kashmir made competitive 204 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kamran Akhter scored his consecutive ton and remained unbeaten at 102* runs off 58 balls while Mohammad Tehseen made 38 runs off 33 balls. Saqib Ali and Mohammad Shahzaib took one wicket each for Bahawalpur.
