Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: After the conclusion of the six-match first phase of T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament, the second phase will commence from Monday, 5 December at the two venues of Lahore – Lahore Gymkhana and LCCA Ground. Four teams namely Blasters, Challengers, Dynamites and Strikers will feature in the event where Pakistan’s elite cricketers will take part. The second phase will be played on a single-league basis, where two matches will be played daily on 5, 6 and 7 December. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the tournament’s final between the top two sides on 9 December. In order to incentivise domestic performers, the best performer of every match will continue to receive PKR20,000 as they were getting in the first phase of the tournament. The player of the tournament will bag PKR50,000. The winning team will receive PKR 1 million, while the runner-up will get PKR0.5million. The first phase was a great platform for Under-19 players to perform and get a chance to be a part of the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup set to take place in January 2023 in South Africa. In the first phase, three sides Conquerors, Invincibles and Stars took part in the competition, which was played on a double-league basis. Stars led by Huraina Sajjad won all their four matches in the first phase, while Conquerors won two matches and Invincibles remained winless. In the batting charts, the 17-year-old Shawal Zulfiqar, representing Conquerors, topped the table with 161 runs from four outings, which included two half-centuries. Invincibles’ right-handed batter Gulrukh scored 133, while Stars’ skipper Huraina scored 101 from four matches. In the bowling charts, Conquerors’ right-arm leg-spinner Syeda Aroob Shah bagged nine wickets from four matches, which included one five-fer. Aroob’s teammate, 17-year-0ld Anoosha Nasir with her left-arm spin had five scalps to her name. Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: A total of 13 matches will be played in the T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament, which commences in Lahore from 26 November. In order to incentivise domestic performers, the best performer of every match will get PKR20, 000 and the player of the tournament will bag PKR50,000. The winning team will receive PKR 1 million, while the runner-up will get PKR0.5million. The tournament provides an opportunity to the players to get acclimatised to the T20 format, while it will help coaches and selection committee to select squads for the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s World Cup and ICC T20 Women’s World Cup – both events scheduled to take place in South Africa next year. The tournament will be played in two phases. In the first phase, three teams namely Conquerors, Invincibles and Stars will take part from 26 November to 2 December. Conquerors consist of U19 players, while Invincibles and Stars consist of emerging players. Each side will feature in four matches in the first phase. In the second phase, the performers of first phase will be provided an opportunity to feature in one of the four sides namely Blasters, Challengers, Dynamites and Strikers. Pakistan’s elite cricketers will feature in the second phase. The second phase of the tournament will run from 5 December to 9 December, while the squads of the four sides will be named in due course. The venue for the final of the tournament scheduled on 9 December will be named in due course. BIPIN DANI Sri Lankan Women’s Under-19 team won its match against the West Indies U-19 team by 6 wickets at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.  Both West Indies and Sri Lanka's U-19 teams are in India to participate in the Quadrangular Women's U-19 T-20 series. The BCCI has fielded two teams A and B for this series. Sri Lanka's U-19 captain Vishmi Gunarathne had won the toss and invited the Windies team to bat first. Ashmi Munishar-led Windies scored 95 runs for three wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lankan batters achieved the target in 15.1 overs and scored 99 runs and lost four wickets. Opening batter and captain could score only one run but another opener and wk Sumudu Nisansala's aggressive batting (33 runs  which included 8 fours) was the top scorer of the Sri Lankan innings,  whereas Windies wk opener Shunelle Sawh was the top scorer (35*) of the match. 

Sports Bulletin Report Lahore: Nida Dar’s all-round performance and Ayesha Naseem’s quick-fire 25 helped Pakistan to a six-wicket win over Ireland in the second T20I here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday and also level the three match series 1-1. The series decider will be played on Wednesday, 16 November. Chasing 119 to win in 17 overs, after the start of the play was delayed due to rain, the opening pair of Javeria Khan and Muneeba Ali provided a 26-run start off 19 balls before Muneeba fell to Arlene Kelly for 10-ball 12. Captain Bismah (2 off 5 balls) was next to go with 29 runs on the board. Javeria was joined by Nida and the two most experienced batters added 46 runs for the third wicket. Both Javeria (35, 39b, 3x4) and Nida (28, 25b, 1x4,1x6) ran themselves out and Pakistan were four down with 97 runs on the board. The right-handed Ayesha struck two sixes and one four in her unbeaten knock of 25 from 12 balls, while Aliya Riaz struck two boundaries and returned unbeaten on 11 off seven balls. Both batters helped the hosts achieved the target with one over to spare. Earlier, after opting to field first, Pakistan bowlers kept Ireland batters in check as the tourists managed to score 118 for seven in their allotted 17 overs. Opening batter Amy Hunter top-scored for her side with a 39-ball 36, which included three fours. Orla Prendergast who was declared player of the match in the previous game managed to score 20 0ff 17 balls, hitting three fours. For Pakistan, spinners Nida and Nashra Sundhu bagged two wickets apiece. BIPIN DANI Vishmi Gunarathne becomes the first Under-19 Women’s captain for the Sri Lankan team. The 17-year-old right-handed opening batter is leading the team for the India tour. "Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board is sending the U-19 team for the first time overseas and obviously we are delighted with my daughter being named captain but this has "not surprised" us. No surprise since she already showed her talents``, her father Aruna Gunarathne, speaking exclusively over tge telephone from Colombo said on Wednesday evening. Interestingly, the family is yet to congratulate Vishmi on this good news. "We got through the Sri Lanka Cricket Website and still have not talked to Vishmi since she is busy with her training". "Very talented Girl is being selected to the Leadership and has proven this by achieving the champions in the All Island U 19 championship 2022 under her Captaincy. We want to see that my daughter is working hard to perform the best in any time by self motivation", he added further. "Principal, MIC and Head Coach of the Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya has calculated long time master plans to produce such talented cricketers. Hashan Thilakarathna former National Coach and the U19 Head coach Shashikala Siriwardana are helping to develop her international cricket", the father concluded. Sri Lanka's Under-19 Women’s Team arrived on India tour on November 9, 2022, to take part in a T20 quadrangular tournament involving India's U19 "A" and "B" teams and the West Indies Under-19.

Sports Bulletin Report  LAHORE: Pakistan are fully focused on winning the third and final ODI and with it clean-sweeping Ireland when the two teams line up for the last time in the ODI series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. The match will be live-streamed on PCB YouTube, with the first ball to be bowled at 0930am. After the ODI series, both sides will meet again in the three T20Is at the same venue from 12 to 16 November. The three-match ODI series are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 and the home side will be eager to end the series collecting all six points on offer. Pakistan have played five matches till date in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, three against Sri Lanka this year and winning two of them, and are currently on the second spot in the ICC Women’s Championship with eight points. India are leading the chart with 12 points from six matches. Opening batter Sidra Amin – who has scores of 176 not out and 91 not out from two outings in the series and was named player of the match in both matches – will be looking forward to play another match-winning innings for her side and completing a hat-trick of player of the match awards. During the final ODI, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof will enter the record books as the country’s most capped player in women’s ODIs. She has till date featured in 120 ODIs and Wednesday’s ODI will be her 121st appearance, taking her past Sana Mir’s 120 ODIs. Lahore-born Bismah made her ODI debut at the age of 15 against India in Jaipur in the Women’s Asia Cup in December 2006. Her 43 runs in the match was the second-highest score for the side after Sajjida Shah’s 44. In 120 ODIs, Bismah has scored 2,960 runs (most by a Pakistan batter in the format) at 29.89, which includes 17 half-centuries. Bismah captained the ODI side for the first time in 2013 and has led the team in 30 ODIs, scoring 958 runs. She requires another 42 runs to become the second Pakistan captain after Sana Mir (1,069) to score 1,000 ODI runs as skipper. Under Bismah’s captaincy, Pakistan have won 15 matches, lost 13 matches, and tied one match, while one game was abandoned due to rain. Reflecting on her journey, Bismah Maroof told PCB Digital: “It is a great honour to represent Pakistan. After becoming a mother and since my comeback, I am grateful to my parents and my husband who have supported me in continuing my cricket journey. “I have played a lot under Sana Mir, she was an inspirational leader, helping in grooming most of us and we all have learnt a lot from her. I have remained vice-captain under her and it helped me improve a lot. “Tomorrow’s game is very important; we would like to win the third ODI to take 100 per cent ICC Championship points. We have the momentum with us and we would like to end the series on a winning note.”

Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Local girl, Sidra Amin has had a phenomenal 2022. The 30-year old batter has scored three centuries from 49 ODIs and all have come this year. Her unbeaten 176 off 151 balls, which included 20 fours and one six against Ireland in the first ODI on Friday, not only helped her side win by a margin of 128 runs, but also led her side to clinch important ICC Women’s Championship points. Before Friday’s match, Sidra took part in 10 ODIs this year, and has scored 420 runs, which included two centuries – 104 against Bangladesh – the first century by a Pakistan batter in the ICC Women’s World Cup and 123 against Sri Lanka in the ICC Women’s Championship match at the Southend Club, Karachi in June. Her knock of 176 is the highest individual score amongst Pakistan’s batters, surpassing Javeria Khan’s 133 not out against Sri Lanka at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in January 2015. Sidra’s three centuries till date has allowed her to pass Javeria’s record of most centuries (two) for a Pakistan batter in the 50-over format. Ireland – who are on their maiden tour to Pakistan for six limited-overs matches, will be eager to bounce back when both sides meet again for the second One-Day International on Sunday at the Gaddafi Stadium. Recalling her innings, and match-winning record first-wicket partnership with Muneeba Ali, who scored her maiden ODI century, Sidra in an exclusive conversation with Muneeba for PCB Digital said: “I always worked hard and prepare myself before going into the match, but this year I trusted and backed myself to do well. I have changed my approach a bit, now I am thinking about going for runs on every ball and it is paying dividends now.” Sidra, who has 1,180 ODI runs to her name in 49 matches, praised the support she received from her teammates and the confidence given in galvanising her to register an epic ton on Friday. “I am very happy with my innings, when I reached triple figures, I had made up my mind to go for more runs and the support I was getting from the dressing room helped me to score big and achieve the record.” Heading into the series, Sidra had only played three of her 80 international matches at her home ground, the Gaddafi Stadium – and had scores of 21, 4 and 19 and these outings against Bangladesh in 2019. Detailing her struggles in the past and overcoming them to score big in Lahore, Sidra said: “I had always dream of playing here at the Gaddafi Stadium. In one domestic tournament here at the Gaddafi Stadium, I was ruled out of the tournament due to injury, then in 2019 during Bangladesh women’s series here, I could not score runs, I was dropped and eventually my name was omitted from the central contracts list. So this was in my mind, I realised, I got the opportunity, I want to do well, so the people remember my knock and so do I.” Talking about the individuals who inspired and helped her perform at this level, Sidra stated, “I would like to dedicate my blistering innings to my parents – who have been with me from the start to support in good and bad times. The captain and coaching staff, who supported me by giving me a number of matches to perform. Teammates, fans and friends are important to me and I am dedicating this knock to all of them.”

Sports Bulletin Report LANHORE: Sidra Amin produced her career-best 176 not out, while Muneeba Ali stroked her maiden century to record a crushing 128-run win for Pakistan over Ireland to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match ICC Women’s Championship ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday. Bismah’s decision to bat first after winning the toss paid dividends from the start as both openers Muneeba and Sidra added a record 221 runs for the first wicket – beating their previous 158-run stand which was made against Sri Lanka earlier this year at the Southend Club, Karachi. The left-handed Muneeba and right-handed Sidra’s 221-run partnership came off 214 balls. Muneeba brought up her maiden century in the 33rd over of the innings off 108 balls. She was eventually dismissed for 114-ball 107, studded with 10 fours and two sixes. Sidra was joined by Aliya Riaz – who was promoted up in the order and the two stitched 97 runs off 67 balls for the second wicket. Aliya returned back to the hut after scoring 29 off 28 balls, which included two fours and one six. The debutant Sadaf Shamas was next to go to join Muneeba and Aliya after getting bowled to Arlene Kelly for a six-ball three. Sidra – who came into this match scoring two centuries and four half-centuries from 48 matches, scored her and Pakistan highest individual score of 176. Her unbeaten innings included 20 fours and one six which came off 151 balls and helped the home side score 335 for three in 50 overs – beating their previous total of 280 which came against the same opponents Ireland. In return, chasing a mammoth 336-run to win, the visitors were bowled out for 207 in the last over. Ireland’s skipper Laura Delany top-scored for her side. The right-handed batter struck six boundaries and scored 69 off 92 balls. Delany and Orla Prendergast (29, 45b, two fours) knitted a 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket – the highest of the innings. For Pakistan, off-spinner Nida Dar was the most successful bowler taking three wickets for 34 runs.  Fatima Sana and Nashra Sundhu (playing her 50th ODI) bagged two wickets apiece. Fast bowling all-rounders Aliya and Kainat Imtiaz scooped a wicket each. Sidra for her fantastic century was named the best player of the match. Sports Bulletin Report Lahore: Right-arm fast Fatima Sana returns to the national side for the three-match ODI series and three-match T20I series against Ireland scheduled to take place in Lahore from 4 November to 16 November. The three ODIs are part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 and will be played from 4-9 November at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The 20-year old Fatima was ruled out of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup held earlier this month in Sylhet, Bangladesh after she twisted her ankle playing for Barbados Royals Women in the Caribbean Premier League. Fatima replaces Diana Baig in both squads, as the latter is not part of the series due to a shoulder injury she sustained while playing in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Meanwhile, the 15-player T20I squad unveiled by national women team’s chief selector Asmavia Iqbal also includes Javeria Khan. Javeria last featured for Pakistan in the shortest format was in July 2021 against the West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The squads were finalised after deliberations amongst Asmavia Iqbal, interim head coach Saleem Jaffer and captain Bismah Maroof. There are only two changes in the T20I squad that featured in the recently concluded ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup and three changes in the ODI squad that played against Sri Lanka in Karachi in June this year. The 36-year-old slow left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera had won the Player of the Match award for her 2 wickets against Pakistan in the Women's Asia Cup in Bangladesh but instead of pocketing the Award alone, she preferred to share it with Achini, whose last over denied Pakistan the berth in the final. "Sharing an award was an instant decision", Inoka Ranaweera, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Bangladesh, said. "I wanted to appreciate her great effort. We have a great team spirit. We always support each other and celebrate success together". "I think all the players contributed to this win.  Final over was the most crucial one of the game. We were only allowed 3 fielders outside the 25 yard. So I think Achini bowled a brilliant over in that pressure situation. My spell has no worth if we haven't won the game. So that's why I thought I should share the award", she explained her decision of sharing the award. The terms for players winning the awards are changed from Man of the Match and Man of the Series to Player of the Match and Player of the Series. This avoids the gender discrimination.   "Yes, I think it's a good move. Now a lot of things have changed. I think everything is getting better", she signed off.
