PBCC names the squad for Triangular Blind Cricket Tournament

ISLAMABAD:-Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has selected the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team for the Triangular Blind Cricket Tournament to be held in United Arabs Emirates (UAE) from 13th to 19th March 2022. Besides Pakistan, India and Bangladesh will take part in 7-day international T 20 blind cricket fixture.

National Blind Cricket Championship for Women starts in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:-The 1st National Blind Cricket Championship for Women started at Shalimar Cricket Ground Islamabad Tuesday (March 8, 2022 on the World Women’s Day) sponsored by Australian High Commission in Pakistan. Four teams including hosts Islamabad, Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber PakhtunKawa (KPK) are taking part in this event.
Nick Hockley, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cricket Australia (CA), Joanne Frederiksen Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan, Syed Sultan Shah President World Blind Cricket as well as Chairman PBCC and Todd Greenberg, CEO of Australian Cricketers’ Association attended the event.
Joanne Frederiksen, Australia’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan said:
“I appreciate the efforts of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) in taking this initiative, and on this Women’s Day, I am pleased to support a visually impaired women's cricket training and championship as this will provide the women & girls with a disability the opportunity to participate in Pakistan’s favorite sport. We will continue to fund Blind Women Cricket in Pakistan in the future as well”.
The Chairman, PBCC Syed Sultan Shah said that the two blind factory workers invented blind cricket in Melbourne, Australia, in 1922 and it was a highly competitive game which enables people with visual impairment to become people of vision. Forty-four (44) women & girls with visual impairment are participating in this event, shortlisted across Pakistan from Karachi to Gilgit-Baltistan. He thanked the Australian Government for the much-needed support for this cause. He requested Nick Hockley to follow the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) model of supporting Men Blind Cricket there in Australia. “Pakistan’s men blind cricket is the powerhouse in Blind Cricket and it couldn’t be achieved without the financial assistance of PCB, he added.
Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia expressed his pleasure in watching these visually impaired girls playing cricket that were the source of inspiration for all. “Australia and Pakistan share a passion for cricket, and on this day Australian men's team is playing Test series while Australian and Pakistan Women are competing in World Cup game. Now Cricket Australia will play an important part to uplift the Blind Cricket in Australia, “he said.
Nick Hockley officially inaugurated the event by hitting the audible blind cricket ball. Nick Hockley and Joanne Frederiksen played cricket with the visually impaired girls for quite some time.
West Indies females earn historic seven-run win over England in ICC Cricket World Cup

ISLAMABAD:-The West Indies pulled off another upset as they beat England by seven runs to secure their first-ever ICC Women’s World Cup victory over the defending champions England in the 2022 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup at University Oval on Wednesday.
Shemaine Campbelle and Chedean Nation put on 123 for the fifth wicket to set England 226 to win, six more runs than Heather Knight’s side had ever chased down to win a World Cup game. The 2017 winners stuttered frequently in reply before a 61-run partnership for the ninth wicket between Ecclestone and Kate Cross seemed to be taking them to victory, however two wickets in four balls in Anisa Mohammed’s 48th over snatched it for the West Indies and left England winless from their first two games.
Captain Stafanie Taylor was then sent back for a golden duck and in five balls the West Indies had slipped to 81 for three and two new batters were at the crease. Campbelle broke the boundary drought, striking the first four for 10.2 overs but Knight was then caught by Wyatt who rocked back as she held on to a powerful shot to leave the West Indies 98 for four after 26.1 overs.
Campbelle and Nation went about rebuilding, and benefitted from a bucketful of extras, Brunt conceding five wides for the second game in a row. More dropped catches and a missed run out hampered England, Ecclestone’s figures of four maidens, three for 20 overs a lone bright spot from a disappointing display in the field.
The 100 partnership between Nation and Campbelle came up off 139 balls Nation contributing 38, Campbelle 53 and extras the rest. Nat Sciver got the breakthrough with a low full toss as Campbelle chopped on for 66 from 88 before Chinelle Henry fell for a two-ball duck as the Windies clawed their way to a hard-fought 225 for six.
After bagging a duck in the opening defeat to Australia, Winfield-Hill's batting woes continued but this time she could consider herself very unlucky as Dottin took an early contender for catch of the tournament, an outstretched right hand in a full superwoman pose dismissing the opener for 12.
Sciver, a centurion last time out, went for just two sending a slog sweep to mid-on before Amy Jones’ desire to get the run chase going backfired, Matthews taking a good low catch to reduce England to 72 for four. Beaumont survived an lbw review on 44 but her reprieve did not last long as she was trapped in front by Mohammed for 46 to deepen England’s troubles.

FAISALABAD:-Pakistan Blind Cricket Team whitewashed South Africa Blind Cricket team after an easy victory in the third and last T-20 International by 163 runs. The Green Caps had already won the three-match ODI series with 3-0.
The 3rd and the last T-20 International of the between Pakistan and South Africa Blind Cricket series was played at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad. In the morning, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team won the toss and decided to bat first.
The Veteran Mohammad Akram who has been playing his last T-20 Int’l match opened the innings with Badar Munir for Pakistan and both openers got retired out after scoring fifties.
Pakistan scored massive 314 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Badar Munir scored 62 off 22 Balls while Mohammad Akram made 51 off 24 Balls. Mathula Dhlamini took 1 wicket for South Africa.
The target of 315 runs was too hard for South Africa and they made only 151 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Fredrik Andreas was the main run-getter with 39 runs off 24 balls while Bhule Bhidla chipped in with 29 runs off 29 balls. Sajid Nawaz and Mohammad Akram took 3 and 2 wickets respectively while Badar claimed a wicket apiece.

FAISALABAD:-Pakistan blind cricket team defeated South Arfica by 8 wickets in the 2nd T-20 International in the three-match series at Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad on Monday.
In the morning, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team again won the toss and decided to bowl first. South Africa Blind Cricket Team made 109 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Bhule Bhidla was the main run-getter with 28 runs off 33 balls while Fredrik Andreas chipped in with 24 runs off 27 balls. Sajid, Israr and Zafar claimed a wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan reached the target of 110 runs with ease in just 15.3 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Zafar Iqbal was the star with the bat; he scored 44 runs off 53 balls while Muhammad Rashid made 30 runs off 30 balls. Anathi Xelelo took 1 wicket for South Africa.

Blinds Cricket: Pakistan beat South Africa by 10 wickets in T20

LAHORE:- Pakistan beat South Africa by 10 wickets in the opening match of the 1st match of T-20 series at Lahore Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore on Saturday.
Pakistan Blind Cricket Team won the toss and decided to bowl first. South Africa scored 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Fredrik with 54 runs was the top scorer from South Africa. Moain, Badar and Sana Ullah took a wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the target of 184 runs in 11.4 overs without any loss. Maoin Aslam was the star with the bat; he made 99* runs off 43 balls while Muhammad Rashid scored 71* runs off 27 balls.

KARACHI:-Pakistan Blinds Cricket team defeated South Africa by 6 wickets in the 3rd and the last One-Day International played at Southend Cricket Stadium Karachi.
South African Blind Cricket Team yet again won the toss (three times in a row) and this time decided to bat first. South Africa made 252 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Bhule Bhidla with 63 runs was the top scorer from South Africa while Isac Bidla chipped in with 56 runs. Matiullah took 2 wickets while Ahtesham and Israr Hassan took a wicket apiece.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the target of 253 runs in 29 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Matiullah was the star with the bat, he made 64 runs off 41 balls. Faisal Mehmood and Ahtesham ul Haq scored 53 and 51 runs respectively. Sphelele Khalala took 1 wicket.

KARACHI:-Hosts Pakistan overpowered South Africa by 247 runs in the 2nd One-Day International of the historical Pakistan-South Africa Blind Cricket series at Southend Cricket Stadium Karachi. Pakistan earned 2-0 unbeatable lead in the 3-match series.
In the morning, the South African Blind Cricket Team won the toss and decided to bowl first. Naseeb Ullah made his debut for Pakistan in this game, he is from Quetta and emerged as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
Debutant Naseeb Ullah and Akmal Hayat opened the innings for Pakistan but both openers got out early after scoring 38 and 14 runs respectively. Pakistan lost 2 wickets for 64 runs, thereafter Riasat Khan and Faisal Mehmood played extremely well and together knitted 436 for the 3rd wicket partnership, which broke the world record of highest partnership in ODIs that was 434 (made by Anees Javed and Amir Ashraf vs England in 2010).
Pakistan made mammoth 554 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 40 overs. Riasat Khan made 226 runs off 90 balls while Faisal Mehmood played superbly for his 188 runs off 94 balls. Lwande Bhidla again took 2 wickets for South Africa.
The target of 555 runs was too stiff for South Africa and they made 307 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Bhule Bidla was the main run-getter with unbeaten 75* runs off 55 balls with the help of 12 boundaries while Jacob Kotze chipped in with 45 runs. Akmal Hayyat, Riasat Khan, Mohammad Rashid, and Zafar Iqbal claimed a wicket apiece.

Blind Cricket: Pakistan thrash South Africa by 249 runs in 1st One Day International

KARACHI:-Pakistan Blind Cricket team defeated South Africa by a big margin of 249 runs in the 1st One Day International match of three-match tie at Southend Cricket Stadium Karachi on Monday.
South African Blind Cricket Team won the toss and decided to bowl first. Four players from Pakistan and three players from South Africa made One-Day International debut for their sides. Debutant Faisal Mehmood and Ahtesham ul Haq opened the innings from Pakistan and made 108 runs in the first wicket partnership. Mohammad Salman B1 attacked on opponents bowlers, as both Salman and Ahtesham hit centuries and put Pakistan into a formidable position, they scored 132 and 122 runs respectively. Shahzaib Hayder played a brisk inning of 118 runs off 56 balls and took Pakistan's score to 473 runs in stipulated 40 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Lwande Bhidla took 2 wickets for South Africa.
In reply, chasing the huge target of 474 runs, South Africa lost early wickets and Pakistan bowling ran through the Proteas top and middle order by taking 6 wickets at mere 69 runs. Lwande Bhidla and Buhle Bidla tried to rescue and knitted a partnership of 103 runs for 7th wicket but wasn’t enough to take South Africa home. South Africa was bowled out at 224 runs in 38.4 overs. Lwande Bhidla was the star in the batting as well with 44 runs and Bhule Bidla scored 40 runs. Muhammad Shahzaib was the pick amongst the bowlers for Pakistan by taking 3 wickets, while Mohammad Salman, Shahzaib Haider, Mohsin Khan and Akmal Hayyat claimed a wicket apiece.
Akhtar Anayat Bhugri, Secretary Sports Sindh was the chief guest of the occasion and distributed prizes, he was accompanied by Syed Sultan Shah Chairman PBCC.

PBCC finalizes squad for Pakistan-South Africa series

ISLAMABAD:-Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has finalized the national squad for home series against South Africa. Nasir Ali will lead the Pakistan team in the most important series of the year 2022. Mohammad Jameel will accompany the squad as a coach while Mohammad Niaz will perform the duty of manager during the series.
