T20 Blinds: Karachi, Sargodha, Attock and Abbottabad reach in semifinals
Sports Bulletin ReportFAISALABAD: Karachi, Sargodha, Attock, and Abbottabad moved into the semifinals of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy 2023 (Grade-2) after winning their respective matches at two different venues of Faisalabad on Friday. Both semifinals will be played on Saturday at Bohranwali Cricket Ground Faisalabad.Abbottabad beat Sheikhopura by 120 runs (HPC Centre Chak-8):Abbottabad won the toss and decided to bat first. Abbottabad made 241 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Asnaad Khan was the top scorer with 36 off 24 balls. Irfan Ullah was the 2nd highest scorer with 35 runs off 30 balls. Raheel Ahmed took 2 wickets while Majid and Sohaib Mehtab claimed 1 wicket each for Sheikhopura. In reply, Sheikhopura couldn’t make the most of the batting friendly conditions and made just 121 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Ashraf Bhatti made 36 runs off 50 balls. Asnaad Khan took 1 wicket for Abbottabad. Asnaad Khan got man of the match award.Karachi beat Quetta by 46 runs (Bohranwali Ground):Quetta won the toss and decided to bowl first. Ayoub Khan once again shined with the bat and played a tremendous innings of unbeaten 129* runs off 62 balls and helped his side to set a massive total of 262 runs on the board for no loss in allotted 20 overs. Tahir Ali also made useful contribution of unbeaten 117* runs off 62 balls.In reply, Quetta scored 216 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Sohail took 2 wickets and Ehtisham Ul Haq Claimed 1 wicket for Attock.In Reply Attock reached the target of 196 runs with ease in 15.5 overs without any loss. Rashid and Hameed lift veteran ITF 60+ Doubles title in Thailand
Sports Bulletin ReportPattya (Thailand): Former Davis Cupper and veteran Pakistani tennis men, Rashid Malik, and Hameed-ul-Haq have won the 60+ Singles title of the ITF Seniors’ Master Championship after beating David Eckley from USA pairing with Hakan Gustafsson from Sweden 2-0 in final at Pattaya, Thailand on Thursday. The final score-line was 6-3, and 6-2.Former Davis Cup players of yesteryears, keeping Pakistan’s veteran tennis alive, Rashid Malik and Hameed-ul-Haq will be facing each other on Friday for the 60+ ITF Masters Singles Championship title.Hameed, and Do Hong Wong from Canada overcame Anthony Campbell from Australia, and Florjan Frcej from Slovenia with the score-line of 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 in super tie break to reach the 55+ double to final.

National Basketball Championship: Army to meet WAPDA in final

Both teams won the semifinals on Wednesday quite comfortably.  Army beat Lahore (84-58):In the first semifinal, Pakistan Army faced a formidable challenge from Lahore Division Basketball Team but emerged victorious with a scoreline of 84-58. At halftime, Army held a close lead of 38-23. Tughlab Ammar led the charge for Pakistan Army with an impressive 33 points, supported by Mohammad Shehbaz Ali (9 points) and Sheraz Aslam (9 points). Lahore's contributions came from Safi Khan (27 points), Ibtisam Murtaza (8 points), and Mohsin Mehtab (8 points). WAPDA beat PAF (80-51):The second semifinal witnessed Pakistan Wapda securing an impressive 80-51 victory over Pakistan Air Force. Leading 38-30 at halftime, Wapda showcased outstanding basketball skills, with Zainul Hassan (28 points), Mohammad Zahid Arif (16 points), and Mohammad Usman (15 points) steering their team to success. For Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Umair Jan scored 23 points, with Mohammad Akhter contributing 8 points and Ahmed Jan securing 7 points.A sizable crowd, including spectators such as Shahid Mirza, Tajamal Riaz, Umer Sardar, Mateen Akmal, Director of Sports at GCU Waseem Akhtar, PBBF Secretary General Khalid Bashir, Mohammad Azam Dar, and students of GC University, witnessed the thrilling matches officiated by referees Ghulam Mohammad Memon, Mohammad Alam, Gul Jamal, Umer Mohammad, Syed Adnan Ali, and Saadat Jehangir.

Quetta set the competitive total of 195 runs on the board for the loss of 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Mohammad Saleem was the top scorer with 84 runs off 60 balls and Naseb Ullah made 46 runs off 23 balls. Abdul Malik took 1 wicket for Sargodha. In reply, Sargodha chased down the target of 196 runs in 19.1 overs by losing their 2 wickets. Zain Ashraf played a superb innings of unbeaten 79* runs off 56 balls. He was the highest scorer and Tanveer remained not out on 54* runs off 37 balls. Ayoub Khan’s terrific innings of unbeaten 140* runs off 60 balls helped Karachi to set a huge total of 292 runs on the board for the loss of 1 wicket in allotted 20 overs. Tahir Ali also made useful contribution of 96 runs off 55 balls. For Gilgit-Baltistan, Shoeb ul Hassan and Shakeel Ahmed took 1 wicket each.In reply, Gilgit Baltistan were bowled out on 143 runs in 16.5 overs. National Hockey Training Camp to start today in Islamabad

Pakistan will participate in the Olympic qualifying round, which will take place from January 15 to 21, 2024 in Oman.PHF directed all 39 players to report team manager and camp commandant Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior. Bilal Hayat Noon led the charge with four impressive goals, supported by Raja Temur Nadeem's three strikes and a goal from Diamond Paints' CEO Mir Shoaib Ahmed. On the opposing side, Ibrahim Khalil netted two goals, and Maisam Haider contributed one for Barry's Polo.In the second match, Remounts, powered by Abelenda's outstanding performance with six goals, secured a 7-3½ win against Pebble Breaker. Rashid, and Hameed claim upset victories in ITF Masters Thailand
Sports Bulletin ReportPattya (Thailand): Former Davis Cupper tennis men, Hameed-ul-Haq and Rashid Malik registered upset victories in the 60+ Singles of the ITF Seniors’ Master Championship at Pattaya, Thailand.Hameed-ul-Haq and Rashid Malik moved in the semifinals after these wins. Rashid malik outclassed Peter Schubert of Germany (World Ranking 70) in straight sets 2-0 with the score-line of 6-0, and 7-6 while Hameed-ul-Haq overpowered Simon Arms of Australia (World Ranking 12) with the score-line of 6-1, and 6-1.In the 65+ Doubles Category Waqar Nisar (Pak) and Kazuhico Imahashi (Japan) lost to Shay Abramovich (Israel) and Robert McGuigan 3-6, 7-5, 6-10 in the quarterfinals.

PHF appoints Asif Bajwa as chairman National Selection Committee
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: President, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Brigadier (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar has said that the president International Hockey Federation (IHF), Rabindra Batra was responsible for shitting the Olympics qualifying round from Pakistan to Oman after expressing security concerns, as many international teams had been visiting Pakistan for many years.He was addressing a press conference at PHF Headquarters here flanked with Olympian Rana Mujahid Ali, Secretary General PHF, Parvez Bhandara, Olympian Asif Bajwa, Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior and announced the new National Selection Committee while appreciating the work of the previous National Selection Committee. “Asif Bajwa will be the chairman of the selection committee while Olympian Kaleemullah Khan has been appointed as the chief observer. Olympian Anjum Saeed, Olympian Zeeshan Ashraf, Olympian Kamran Ashraf have also been included in the selection committee. While the manager of the national team, Olympian Shehbaz Ahmed Senior, head coach Roelment Oltamens, Olympian Shafqat Malik, Olympian Kashif Jawad, video analyst Abuzar umrao, while the manager of the five-a-side World Cup, Olympian Waseem Feroze, chief coach Olympian Qamar Ibrahim and Olympian Sheikh will be among the coaches. Usman and Olympian Mohammad Khalid will be the coaches. While Olympian Nasir Ali and International Rana Shafiq have been appointed as coordinators of PHF, “he revealed.He said that former FIH President Rabindra Batra was responsible for withdrawing the hosting of the Olympics qualifying round while some countries also expressed security concerns after which the hosting of the Olympics qualifying round was withdrawn from us. “We have a good relationship with the Indian Hockey Federation but we should not be compared with them. We get a budget of 65 lakh rupees annually for hockey, while in India the budget of 2.5 billion rupees is allocated for hockey, “he said.In addition, PHF President Brig. Khalid Sajjad Khokhar paid tribute to Haier owner Javed Afridi for his full support for the betterment of the national game in the 2018 World Cup.He further said that in the same way, all the public and private organizations should play their role along with PHF to bring back hockey to its lost position.
