India beat Pakistan 2-1 to clinch a gold medal in Asian Games Squash: Pakistan win Silver
Sports Bulletin ReportHangzhou (China): Top seed Indian team beat Pakistan 2-1 in the Team Event Squash final after a well-contested three match affair to win the gold medal at Sports Club Hangzhou, China on Saturday.In the final, Mahesh Mangaonkar lost the opener before Saurav Ghosal levelled the scores. Abhay Singh persevered in an enticing decider to win his team the top podium. India had also lost 2-1 to Pakistan in the group stage earlier this week.In the final, Mahesh Mangaonkar opened the proceedings for India but struggled against Nasir Iqbal and went down 3-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-2) in just 11 minutes.Saurav Ghosal then drew India level with a straight-set win in the second match. The Indian squash player trailed in the initial stages of his match but rallied back to beat Mohammad Asim Khan 3-0 (11-5, 11-1, 11-3).In an enthralling decider, Abhay Singh won the first game before losing the next two, as the Indian squash player, however, dug deep to beat Noor Zaman 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10) to clinch the tie in India’s favour. Abhay Singh, 25, saved two championship points in the deciding game to deny Pakistan.

Paris Olympics 2024: Oman to host FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier
Sports Bulletin ReportLausanne (Switzerland): International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Thursday announced that Oman would host the FIH Olympic Qualifier following the decision to withdraw the hosting of one of the Men’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers from Pakistan due to the recent developments in the governance situation of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.The tournament will be held in Muscat from 15 to 21 January 2024. The other three FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers will be played in China (Women’s – 15-21 January 2024) and Spain (Women’s and Men’s – 13-21 January). 6 Women’s and 6 Men’s teams will qualify for Paris 2024 through these FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, for which the participating teams from Oceania and Europe are already known.Australia and the Netherlands (Women’s and Men’s) have already secured their spot at the Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments by winning the 2023 Oceania Cup and EuroHockey Championships respectively, therefore joining hosts France.The Asian Games - being played currently in Hangzhou, China - as well as the upcoming Pan American Games and African Hockey Road to Paris tournament will determine the remaining teams qualifying directly for next year’s Olympics (3 Women’s and 3 Men’s teams) as well as the teams playing the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers. The Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments will take place from 27 July to 9 August next year.

World Combat Games: 130 Saudi Athletes to participate in mega event
Sports Bulletin ReportRiyadh (Saudi Arabia): As many as127 male and female athletes will be presenting home side in the upcoming World Combat Games 2023, which will be held October 20-30 in the capital city of Riyadh.According to details, the Saudi capital will host the competitions in King Saud University Arena, where Saudi athletes hope to win medals with medals from this global sporting event, SPA reported.The Saudi teams comprise 87 male athletes, 40 female athletes, and 56 technical and administrative staff. Host athletes will compete in 12 sports including Aikido, Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Sambo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Wushu.

Right from the outset, Pakistan established their dominance on the field, relentlessly slotting consecutive goals.Impressively, they have amassed a total of 34 goals across their three pool encounters thus far. Arbaaz Ahmed showcased his scoring prowess by netting an impressive five goals, closely followed by Rana Waheed and Afraz, each contributing three goals. Umar Bhatta and Abdul Rehman exhibited their skill with two goals apiece, while Arshad Liaquat, Ruman Khan, and Sufyan Khan each notched one goal in the remarkable performance against Uzbekistan.In the ongoing Asian Games hockey competition, the Pakistan hockey team remains steadfast in their position at the top of the points table, securing victories in all three of their matches thus far. Cricket News: Mahela Jayawardene likely to join World Cup squad in Delhi
BIPIN DANISri Lanka's consultant coach Mahela Jayawardene will join the World Cup squad soon, it is learnt. According to the sources in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the 46-year-old Mahela did not attend the religious ceremony on the day of team departure and did not travel with the team and is not in Guwahati where Dasun Shanaka's Lanka team is playing the first warm up match against Bangladesh at Barsapara Stadium on Friday."He will certainly be there for the World Cup matches", one of the sources revealed. Sri Lanka's first match (and tournament's 4th) in the World Cup is against South Africa in Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 7. Mahela's contribution to the Lanka team in the Asia Cup is not known.  Mahela's trip to the World Cup in India is approved by the sports minister, along with the other 12-member support staffs. The support staff list approved by the sports minister is as under :Mahinda Halangoda (Team Manager), Chris Silverwood (Head Coach), Mahela Jayawardene (Consultant Coach), Naveed Nawaz (Assistant Coach), Piyal Wijetunga (Spin Bowling Coach), Dharshana Gamage (Fast Bowling Coach), Anton Roux (Fielding Coach), Grant Luden (Trainer), Chris Clark (Physio), Shirantha Niroshana (Analyst), Rohan Priyadarshana (Masseur), Dr. P. The sports minister has also ensured that this approval is used for applying for visa only for the tournament and as a single entry. The above approval for players and the support staffs is granted subject to the condition that a security bond of specific amount is signed between the participants and the SLC. "It is a normal practice adopted for all sports federations", a sports ministry source revealed. The manager will also be required to submit his tour report within 10 days of returning home.  The sports ministry took the recommendations of the chairman of the National Sports Council.
