NBP Grade-1, T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy 2019, Bahawalpur, AJK, Islamabad and Peshawar claim victories

ISLAMABAD (December 25, 2019):-Besides hosts Bahawalpur, Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), Islamabad and Peshawar have won their matches in the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) T20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-1) after beating their respective their opponents at two different venues on Wednesday.
Day-1, Game-1
Bahawalpur Vs Gujranwala: (Venue: Dring Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur)
Bahawalpur whipped Gujranwala in 1st match of the event. Mohammad Rashid’s 115 runs off 65 balls helped Bahawalpur to win by 76 runs. In the cool and breezy morning here in Bahawalpur, Gujranwala won the toss and decided to bowl first. But this decision didn’t work for them as Bahawalpur made 236 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Rashid their formidable batsmen opened the innings and scored a ton while Zafar Iqbal was the other top scorer with 46 runs.
Gujranwala in reply made 160 for the loss of 9 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Akram made 84 runs off 57 balls. Babar Ali and Sajid Nawaz picked three wickets each and Mohammad Ijaz claimed 2 wickets.
Result: Bahawalpur won by 76 runs

Day-1, Game-2
AJK Vs Okara (Venue: Saqid Public School Cricket Ground, Bahawalpur)
AJK defeated Okara by 30 runs and successfully defended the low total. Okara won the toss and put AJK to bat first. AJK made slow start but in later half recovered it by the hard hitting of Nisar Ali. AJK made 193 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 5. Nisar Ali played the captain’s knock of 110 runs off 64 balls.
Okara in reply got the big thunderbolt in the shape of Badar Munir’s wicket. He was bowled by Mohammad Jameel without opening its account. Thereafter, AJK tighten the grip and didn’t allow Okara to come close to the target. Okara made 163 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Iftikhar Tiger made 62 runs. Mohammad Jameel claimed 3 wickets and Nisar Ali took 2 wickets.
Result: AJK won by 30 runs

Day-1, Game-3
Islamabad vs Lahore: (Venue: Dring Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur)
Lahore won the toss and has been the case since last 2 matches decided to bowl first. Islamabad with the help of Anees Javed and Ayub Khan two centuries piled up 282 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets.
Anees Javed remained unbeaten on 138 off 68 balls and Ayub Khan scored 104 runs off 48 balls. Kamran and Salman claimed a wicket a piece.
Lahore tried well to reach the target but fell 17 runs short of the target. Matiullah played the brilliant innings of 126 runs off 65 balls. Lahore in stipulated 20 overs made 265 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Anees, Hasnain and Akmal claimed wicket a piece.
Result: Islamabad won by 17 runs

Karachi Vs Peshawar: (Venue: Saqid Public School Cricket Ground, Bahawalpur)
Peshawar beat Karachi by 9 wickets. After winning the toss, Karachi decided to bat first and made just 129 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Tahir was their top scorer with 62 runs. For Peshawar, Mohsin Khan took 3 wickets and Rahid Ullah claimed 2.
Peshawar in reply chased down the target in only 11 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Sana ullah made 65 off 40 balls and Muhammad Waseem made 34 runs.
Result: Peshawar won by 9 wickets

ISLAMABAD (December 24, 2019):-President, South Asian Taekwondo Association (SATA) Umer Saeed revealed that Pakistan would host two mega taekwondo events next year in 2020. He was talking to sports journalists in a briefing at Media Centre of Pakistan Sports Complex (PSC) along with president Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) Col Waseem Ahmed Janjua and secretary, SATA Murtaza Hasan Bangash on Tuesday.
Umer Saeed Further disclosed that during the 13th South Asian Game, which were taken place in Kathmandu, Nepal from December 1, to 10, 2019, he was elected president SATA for the term of next two years unanimously. “All representatives of member countries including India supported me for this slot. There will be good working relationship between all countries for the promotion of taekwondo in the region, “he hoped.
Responding to a question he said that two events including Pakistan Open Taekwondo Championship and South Asian Taekwondo Championship would be taken place back-to-back in the last quarter of 2020. “We are expecting a large number of players across the world will participate in the international taekwondo fixture. India ensured us that they will take part in the South Asian Taekwondo Championship 2020, “he asserted.
On this occasion, president PTF congratulated Umer Saeed for getting the blue ribbon of SATA president-ship. Waseem indulged reporters that Pakistan participated in 17 international events during the 2019 and national athletes brought laurels for the country. “Government provided only Rs 2.5 million special grant for one event. We demand only infrastructure of the game from government, “he concluded.
Karachi Test ends with massive win by Green Shirts by 263 runs

KARACHI (December 23, 2019):-Karachi Test brought lot of jubilant for the Pakistani players and spectators that finished with 263 runs massive victory against Sri Lankan in the ICC Test Championship fixture at National Cricket Stadium, Karachi on Monday.
Day-5 was just a 14-minute and 16-ball game, as the Sri Lanka's last three wickets were dismissed on their overnight total of 212 in the second innings. It was Pakistan's first series win at home against Sri Lanka since 1992.
With this historical win, Pakistan aggregated 80 points in the World Test Championship table, as Pakistan earned 60 points from the win and 20 from the first Test draw. India (360) and Australia (216) are currently first and second on the table. Nine teams are competing in the Championship, with the top two contesting the final in June 2021.
Pakistan set a unreachable 476-run target for the tourists on Sunday and had them staring at defeat on 212-7 at close of play. Naseem Shah, who at 16 years and 307 days, became the second youngest bowler to take five wickets in a Test innings. The youngster bowled with fire to finish with 5-31.
Fellow Pakistani Nasim-ul-Ghani — a left-arm spinner — holds the record as the youngest bowler with a five-wicket haul in a Test innings. Ghani completed his feat against the West Indies at Georgetown at the age of 16 years, 303 days. Naseem was only six when international cricket was suspended in Pakistan following an attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.
Pakistan were forced to play all their home matches at the neutral venues of United Arab Emirates, before improved security allowed them to host various limited over series in the last four years. The series was the first in Pakistan since an attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009. The first Test of the series in Rawalpindi marked the return of Test cricket in Pakistan, but it was spoiled by bad weather.
The final day began in a dramatic manner when Shah dismissed Lasit Embuldeniya off the very first ball, catching his gloves on the way to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. From the other end leg-spinner Yasir Shah had Oshada Fernando caught in the slip for his overnight score of 102. Oshada's 180-ball knock had 13 boundaries.
Test Cricket, Naseem Shah, 16 years 311 days, becomes youngest fast bowler to take five-wicket

KARACHI (December 23, 2019):No one expecting after poor start in Australia, Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah will achieve record in Test cricket and became the youngest fast bowler to take a five-wicket in an innings.
On Monday, Naseem Shah, aged 16 year and 311 days, surpassed his countryman Mohammad Amir to become the youngest ever fast bowler, who had claimed this record against Australia at the age of 17 years 257 days in 2009 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
During the ICC Test Championship at National Stadium Karachi, teenagers fast bowler, Shah grabbed the wickets of Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Dilruwan Perera, Lasith Embduldeniya and Vishwa Fernando to complete with 5/31 in 12.5 overs.
Pakistan’s spinner Naseem-ul-Ghani keeps that title who took five wickets in an innings against West Indies in 1957/58 at the age of 16 years and 308 days.
Hosts Pakistan overpowered Sri Lanka by 263 runs in the second and final Test in Karachi on Monday, taking the series 1-0. Sri Lanka, set a target of 476 runs, were bowled out for 212 in their second innings.

ISLAMABAD (December 23, 2019):-Pakistan Army athletes have won the Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship 2019 that concluded on Monday at Aamir Boxing Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex. Army grabbed 16 gold medals, WAPDA claimed second position with three gold medals while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) spotted at third position with two gold medals.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) with the support of Omar Associate, AF Powertek Engineering FZC, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Ltd, NLC and Korean Embassy, organized the 14th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship from 19 to 23 Dec 2019 at Amir Khan Boxing Hall.
Teams from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtoonkawa (KPK), Army, WAPDA, PAF, Navy, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Islamabad participated in top national taekwondo showpiece. Shahzaib from Pakistan Air Force was declared best athlete of the event and also awarded Rs.50,000 cash award. Shamim Akhtar, President PTF Women Wing has also awarded Rs.20,000 to Haroon and Shahzaib on their outstanding performance.
Kwak Sung-Kyu, Ambassador Republic of Korea Islamabad graced the closing ceremony as chief guest. Lt Col Raja Waseem Ahmed, President PTF, Omar Saeed, Vice President PTF, Shamim Akhtar, President Women Wing PTF, Murtaza Hassan Bangash, Secretary PTF were also present during this ceremony.

Attock lift the NBP T-20 Blind Cricket Grade-2 Trophy

ISLAMABAD (December 22, 2019):-Hosts Attock have won the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-2) after beating Multan by six wickets in the final at Attock Cricket Stadium, Attock on Sunday.
Attock won the toss and opted to bowl first. Mohammad Safdar from Multan played the extraordinary unbeaten innings of 139 runs off 66 balls and helped Multan to post 227 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Noman claimed 1 wicket.
Attock in reply, chased the target on 228 in 18.5 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Ahtesham-ul-Haq made 74 runs off 39 balls and Bilal Sarwar made 70 runs. Ihsan and Akbar took a wicket a piece for Multan. Atesham ul Haq declared best player of the final.
Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, Sajjad representative of National Bank of Pakistan and Azan Malik, Youth Ambassador of UN were the guests and distributed prizes amongst the players.

Sohail and Riasat Khan claimed 1 wicket each.

England Women win third T20I by 26 runs

ISLAMABAD (December 20, 2019):-England Women beat Pakistan Women by 26 runs in the third and final T20I to complete a 3-0 series win at Kuala Lumpur’s Kinrara Oval on Friday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, England captain Heather Knight scored a quickfire 31-ball 43 which helped her side post an impressive 170 for three. Knight’s 81-run partnership for the second-wicket with Amy Jones (37 off 35) was instrumental in giving England a firm grip of the innings after opener Danni Wyatt – who hit two fours and two sixes in her 15-ball 25 – was dismissed by Umaima Sohail, who returned one for 18 in three overs. For her batting performance, the England captain was named player of the match.
Heather Knight said: “I think it's been a good tour for us. We asked the batters to get big runs and that's happened across both the ODI and the T20I series. “I think we've found some new players, as well. Sarah Glenn has really put her hand up and that's great for us, it adds to the competition for places and makes us stronger as a group. “I've been proud of how we've maintained our high standards, especially in the field - which is something we've been working hard on.
“We're looking forward to the new year and the challenge of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia.” An unbeaten 52-run stand between Fran Wilson and Tammy Beaumont in the last 5.4 overs rescued England and ensured that the visitors finish on a high note after Jones and Knight fell in a span of seven deliveries. Both Wilson and Beaumont struck a four and a six each as the former scored 29 off 24 while the latter made 23 runs at a strike rate of 143.75.
For Pakistan, pacer Diana Baig was the stand out bowler with two wickets for 28 runs in four overs. Pakistan openers couldn’t provide their side a desired start as Ayesha Zafar (nine of eight) and Nahida Khan (eight of 19) were back in the pavilion in 4.4 overs with 29 runs on the scoreboard. Javeria Khan, batting at three, recorded her eighth half-century in the format with an unbeaten 57. The right-handed batter struck five fours and a six in the 56 balls that she faced.
She did not get the desired support from the other end as Pakistan kept losing wickets on regular intervals. The next best score came from wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz, who made 19 not out from seven balls. Javeria Khan said: “This innings was due on me as I was not able to put up scores earlier in the series. I look forward to execute what I have learnt from this series against a quality side like England and implement it in the T20 World Cup. Unlike this series, I am hopeful that I will be scoring runs from the first match in that tournament.
“We gave England tough times in bits and pieces and our overall performances has improved a great deal, which is something the England players also told us. “We have squandered opportunities in this series. Going forward we should look to make the most of the chances we get in the match. This series will help us a lot in learning that.”
Pakistan managed 144 for five in 20 overs. Leg-spinner Sarah Glenn and medium-pacer Anya Shurbsole picked up two wickets each for 12 and 15 runs. For registering two back-to-back half-centuries in the first two T20Is, England wicketkeeper-batter Jones was named player of the series.
