Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Cricket Tournament to commence on October 26
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s premier first-class tournament, will begin from 26 October. Eighteen teams from the 16 regions will participate in the four-day tournament that will conclude on 19 December.The 18 teams include Abbottabad Region, AJK Region, Bahawalpur Region, Dera Murad Jamali Region, Faisalabad Region, FATA Region, Hyderabad Region, Islamabad Region, Karachi Region Blues, Karachi Region Whites, Lahore Region Whites, Lahore Region Blues, Larkana Region, Multan Region, Peshawar Region, Quetta Region, Rawalpindi Region and Sialkot Region.Karachi Region Whites will defend the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy title this year after the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side defeated Faisalabad Region in the final by 456 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium from 22 to 26 October 2023. Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director - Domestic Cricket Operations said: “Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is the pinnacle of domestic cricket in Pakistan as it is not just a tournament but also an event that showcases the immense talent across the country and prepares them for the challenges of international cricket. As always, we will continue to provide the best possible platform for players to excel and show their capabilities on the biggest stage in domestic cricket as they will be rubbing their shoulders with the best players of the country. Earlier we demonstrated a successful Champions One-Day Cup, and are fully committed to strengthening our domestic structure. The successful execution of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy remains at the heart of this commitment.”

Four more matches decided in Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament
FG/Din, SQ Seagold, Guard Group, and Platinum Homes post victories on Day-2 Sports Bulletin ReportLahore (October 22, 2024): Four more matches were decided on the second day of the Lahore Smart City Polo in Pink Tournament at Lahore Polo Club on Tuesday. The matches attracted a large crowd of spectators and families. The event was graced by the presence of Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, Executive Committee members, Secretary Lt Col (Retd) Aamir, and several former players. In the first match of the day, FG/Din Polo defeated Lahore Smart City by 10-7. For FG/Din Polo, Raja Mikail Sami scored five goals, Mian Abbas Mukhtar and Rafi Sheikh each scored two, while Sahar Yaghoobi added one goal. For Lahore Smart City, Agha Musa Ali Khan smashed in five goals, while Farooq Amin Soofi and Bilal Hai contributed one goal each. In the second match, SQ Seagold outpaced One Degree, winning 9-4. English player Charlotte Sweeney fired in four goals for the winning side, while Azam Hayat Noon and Taimur Moazzam added two goals each. Adil Rao thrashed in two goals for One Degree, with the team also benefiting from a two-goal handicap advantage. The third match of the day was won by Guard Group/Zacky Farms, who defeated Black Horse Paints 8-5. Shah Qubilai Alam led Guard Group/Zacky Farms with superb six goals, while Taimur Ali Malik and Ahmed Bilal Riaz each scored one goal. For Black Horse Paints, Shah Shamyl Alam hammered three goals, and Chaudhary Hassan Mansoor added two. The fourth and last match of the day saw Platinum Homes emerge victorious over Diamond Paints with a 7-5 win. Bilal Noon converted three goals for Platinum Homes, while Lt Col (R) Omar Minhas and Emelia scored two each. For Diamond Paints, Raja Jalal Arsalan scored four goals, and Mir Shoaib Ahmed added one. On Wednesday (Octo 23, 2024), four more important matches will be played at the Lahore Polo Club.

Blind Cricket T-20 Super League 2024: Sindh and KPK claim wins
Sports Bulletin ReportBAHAWALPUR: Sindh and Khyber PakhtuneKawa (KPK) have won their matches on the opening day of the 8th PBCC Blind Cricket T-20 Super League 2024 after beating Punjab and Balochistan respectively at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur on Tuesday.Fuad Hashim Rabbani, Additional Chief Secretary, South Punjab graced the opening ceremony as chief guest. Game-1 (Sindh beat Punjab by 10 runs): The opening match of the tournament was played between Punjab and Sindh. Punjab won the toss and opted to field first, putting Sindh in to bat. Sindh set a challenging total, amassing 221 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Badar Muneer impressed with the bat, scoring a brisk 119 runs off 60 balls. Sana Ullah Khan provided strong support, remaining unbeaten with 63 runs off 45 balls.In response, Punjab put forth a commendable effort but eventually fell short, finishing with 211 runs for 3 wickets in their 20 overs. Nisar Ali was the top performer for Punjab, scoring 64 runs off 35 balls, while Haroon Khan added 48 runs off 38 balls. Badar Muneer got player of the match award.Game-2 (KPK beat Balochistan by 21 runs):KPK won the toss and decided to Bat first, setting a competitive total of 204 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Israr Hassan shines with the bat; he scored brilliant 53 runs off 39 balls. Mohammad Salman contributed with a solid 46 runs off 39 balls. For Balochistan, Asif, Irfan, Ayyaz, Niamat and Talha took 1 wicket each.In their reply, Balochistan tried its best to reach the target but fell short by 21 runs, finishing their innings at 183 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Mohammad Rashid was the standout performer for Balochistan, scoring 81 runs off 56 balls and Moain Aslam made 24 runs off 13 balls. Israr, Kamran, Shahzeb, Anees and Salman claimed 1 wicket each for KPK. Israr Hassan declared best player of the match.

Kukkiwon Director Asia, Cholong Um Visits Taekwondo Federation Secretariat

Col. (Retd) Raja Waseem Ahmed Janjua, President of PTF, Najam Siddiqui, Director International Affairs, and Mehraj Aslam, Director Kukkiwon Affairs of PTF, focusing on Kukkiwon-related matters.Cholong Um commended the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation for its dedicated efforts in managing the Kukkiwon Dan Promotion Tests and the issuance of Dan Certifications to Black Belt holders. She also toured the Kukkiwon Headquarters office currently being established within the PTF Secretariat.A ceremony was held to exchange souvenirs between both organizations, marking the occasion with respect and mutual appreciation. Squash Championship: Sakhiullah and Shamlan Gul reach final
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: Sakhiullah Khan and Shamlan Gul reached the final of the Al Baraka Bank Jahangir Khan Squash Championship after beating their respective opponents here at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Sunday.Sakhiullah of Punjab defeated Kameel Tariq in a one-sided contest in the Under-19 Boys’ semifinal. He finished the match at 11-5, 13-11, and 11-4. In the second semifinal, Shamlan Gul of Punjab outclassed Ibrahim Mohib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-0. Shamlan emerged victorious with scores of 11-8, 11-7 and 11-8. The final will be played on Monday at the same venue.

Qalandars hold trials to select players for “Player Development Program”
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE (PR): Over 12, 000 players participated in the trials aiming to select the upcoming talented cricketers for “Player Development Program” (PDP) at the Qalandars-UOL High-Performance Centre in the University of Lahore, as the selected players will be announced on Monday (tomorrow), and they will have the opportunity to advance their cricketing careers under the guidance of experienced professionals.  In an impressive display of talent and determination, over 12,000 aspiring cricketers from diverse backgrounds participated, showcasing their skills in hopes of securing a spot in the shortlisted list for the program. The rigorous trials spanned an extensive day, during which batters, bowlers, and wicketkeepers underwent thorough evaluations to demonstrate their abilities.The trials were overseen by PDP's poster boy, Haris Rauf, along with Lahore Qalandars’ captain, Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and the batch of senior coaching staff. Their involvement not only inspired the participants but also ensured a comprehensive assessment of each player's potential.The event was further distinguished by the presence of Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, who graced the occasion with his support for grassroots cricket development. Aitchison College Junior Championship: Talha, Bismel win titles
Sports Bulletin ReportLAHORE: Abubakar Talha and Bismel Zia clinched the boys and girls U-18 titles at the Aitchison College Junior Tennis Championship 2024 at Aitchison College, Mall Road, Lahore. In the Boys U-18 final, Abu Bakar Talha, student of Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) and sponsored player of SA Gardens, clinched the double crowns in the prestigious event as he first won the U-18 singles title and then doubled it by winning the U-18 doubles title. In the boys U-18 singles final, Abubakar overpowered Asad Zaman 6-2, 6-3 to secure the championship title. Abubakar later teamed up with Haider Ali Rizwan in the boys U-18 doubles final, where they dominated Kashan Tariq and Yafat Nadeem with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 title win. On the girls’ side, Bismel Zia, being sponsored by Ali Embroidery Mills and coached and mentored by renowned coach Rashid Malik, delivered a stellar performance in the girls U-18 final, defeating Romaisa Malik 6-2, 6-3. She thanked Ali Embroidery Mills CEO Tariq Zaman for his generous support and also expressed her gratitude to her coach and mentor Rashid Malik for his able guidance and training that helped her excel at the national tennis circuit. Bismel Zia’s attempt at a double victory was thwarted in the girls U-14 final, where Hajra Rana claimed the title with a 4-2, 4-2 win. Hajra then dominated Khadija Khalil 4-1, 4-0 in the girls U-12 final to double her crowns. Other notable results included Hassan Usmani's victory over Umer Jawad, a promising student of Beaconhouse School Defence Campus. In the boys U-14 final, securing a 6-0, 6-2 win. In the boys U-12 final, Rashid Ali Bachani edged past Mohammad Muaz in two closely contested sets, winning the title by 5-4, 5-4. The doubles finals saw Mohammad Muaz and Mohammad Ayan triumph in the boys/girls U-12 category, defeating Rashid Ali Bachani and Mohammad Ibraheem Hussain Gill 4-0, 5-4. In the boys U-16 (Punjab Ranking) final, Abdul Basit won against Amir Mazari 6-2. In the boys/girls U-10 (Punjab Ranking) final, Muhammad Ayan edged out Mohammad Ibraheem Hussain Gill 7-5. Omer Zaman of Aitchison College Lahore was the chief guest for the event, congratulating the young athletes on their performances and encouraging them to continue pursuing their passion for tennis.PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik thanked Aitchison College Principal SM Turab Hussain and management for sponsoring this event and hoped that they will continue to support sports, especially tennis in Pakistan.

Women’s Sports Carnival: Army Public School claim top position
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: A three-day girls’ sports carnival 2024 concluded on Sunday here at Pakistan Sports Complex, as the event was organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad, and Federal Directorate of Education Islamabad. Army Public School Hamayon Road Rawalpindi earned the top position with three gold medals, as they won football, basketball, and table tennis events after showing impressive performance.On this occasion, the Ambassador of Austria to Pakistan, Andrea Wieck, visited all the stalls in the carnival and appreciated all efforts. Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz Akbar, Army Public School System Rawalpindi Brigadier Dr. Mohammad Naveed, Federal Board, and Federal Directorate Directors were present on this occasion.Federal Secretary for Education Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani thanked all the participants from the core of the heart and said that he was very happy to see such a large crowd and a successful festival organized for women.In the end, he disbursed cash prizes, medals, and certificates to the sports teams from all the provinces of Pakistan, and congratulated the winning teams.
