Four foreign players to participate in CAS International Squash
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Secretary, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Aamir Nawaz formally announced that the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Men’s and Women’s International Squash Championships would be rolled into action from November 20 at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad.While addressing a press conference at a local hotel on Tuesday, he further added that four foreign players would take part in the annual fixture of CAS. “Men’s event is pursuing prize money of $12,000 while women’s $6,000. The main draw of both tournaments will consist of 24 players, “he said.  “Besides Pakistani players, athletes from Malaysia, Egypt, and Spain will compete in the forthcoming tournament. The prize money for the men's championship is USD 1805 for the winner and USD 1140 for the runner-up, while the prize money for the women's event is USD 902 for the winner and USD 570 for the runner-up. The championship finals are set to take place on December 4 at the same venue, “he concluded.

Mohammad Hamza Khan surprises World No. 69 James Willstrop
Abdul Jabbar FaisalISLAMABAD: Rising young artistic squash player, Mohammad Hamza Khan produced a noteworthy and striking performance in the ongoing London Open Squash Championship 2023, which is being played at Cumberland, London, United Kingdom (UK). The finals will be played on November 19 at the same venues.Hamza Khan outclassed Miles Jankins 3-0 in straight games by showing his class, as his game was a blend of powerful forehands, backhand drives, and classic drop shots. Hamza got rid of his opponents in just 30 minutes with the score-line of 11-8, 11-9, and 11-3.In his second-round match, Mohammad Hamza crushed World No. 69 James Willstrop of England 3-1. The Pakistani lad lost the first game at 9-11. After going down 0-1, Hamza reformed his game strategy and played a great squash. He did not allow his competitor to settle on the court, as Hamza won the rest of the three games without any resistance and registered a historical triumph in squash. The final score-line was 9-11, 11-3, 11-9, and 11-9, as the match took 47 minutes.Although, Mohammad Hamza succumbed at the quarterfinal stage to a heavyweight local player Owain Taylor 3-1, however, he exited from the court after giving a thrilling and nerve-jangling contest in which Mohammad Hamza showcased his excellent skills of squash. The final score-line was 11-4, 12-10, 11-13, and 14-12, as the match lasted 75 minutes.

India beat Pakistan 2-1 to clinch a gold medal in Asian Games Squash: Pakistan win Silver
Sports Bulletin ReportHangzhou (China): Top seed Indian team beat Pakistan 2-1 in the Team Event Squash final after a well-contested three match affair to win the gold medal at Sports Club Hangzhou, China on Saturday.In the final, Mahesh Mangaonkar lost the opener before Saurav Ghosal levelled the scores. Abhay Singh persevered in an enticing decider to win his team the top podium. India had also lost 2-1 to Pakistan in the group stage earlier this week.In the final, Mahesh Mangaonkar opened the proceedings for India but struggled against Nasir Iqbal and went down 3-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-2) in just 11 minutes.Saurav Ghosal then drew India level with a straight-set win in the second match. The Indian squash player trailed in the initial stages of his match but rallied back to beat Mohammad Asim Khan 3-0 (11-5, 11-1, 11-3).In an enthralling decider, Abhay Singh won the first game before losing the next two, as the Indian squash player, however, dug deep to beat Noor Zaman 3-2 (11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10) to clinch the tie in India’s favour. Abhay Singh, 25, saved two championship points in the deciding game to deny Pakistan.

Pakistan, India set to meet in Asian Games Team Event Squash final
Green Shirts defeat Hong Kong 2-1, India lads oust defending champions Malaysia 2-0Khurram Shehzad AwanHangzhou (China): Pakistan and gold medalist of 2014 Asian Games India set to meet in the ongoing Asian Games Squash Event final on Saturday, as Pakistan overcame Hong Kong 2-1 in the first semifinal while India defeated defending champions Malaysia 2-0 in the second semifinal here at Squash Court, China on Friday.Nasir Iqbal and Noor Zaman won their matches and are set to play the final, as the medal has been confirmed for Pakistan in the Asian Games 2023. Indian duo Saruve Ghosal and Abhay Singh registered a win in the semifinals. Pakistan squash players outplay India 2-1 in Asian Games 2023
Nasir Iqbal, and Noor Zaman earn vital triumphs 3-1, Asim losses to Saurvu 3-0   Khurram Shehzad AwanHangzhou (China): Pakistan outplayed India in the Men’s Team Event 2-1 in the Asian Games 2023 at Squash Court, Hangzhou China, Pakistan top squash guys Nasir Iqbal and Mohammad Noor Zaman claimed vital and encouraging victories for Pakistan.Nasir Iqbal overcame Indian opponent Mahesh Mangaonaker 3-1, as Nasir won the first game quite easily after conceding just 6 points. The second was brilliantly fought by both players, as the game went up neck-to-neck till 9-9, which won by Mahesh at 13-11. However, during the rest of the two games, Nasir did not allow the Indian lad to settle on the court. The final score-line was 11-6, 13-11, 9-11, and 11-8.Mohammad Noor Zaman exited Abhay Singh in a similar style 3-1 by exhibiting top-quality squash. Noor Zaman clinched the first game at 11-8, and Abhay Singh bounced back in the match after winning the second game at a tie-break 12-10. After losing the second game, the Pakistani player changed his strategy after getting some important tips from Coach Fahim Gul and finished the rest of the two games at 11-8, and 11-8. Houston to host 2024 WSF World Junior Squash Championships
Sports Bulletin ReportHouston (USA): The World Squash Federation (WSF) board has awarded US Squash the rights to host the 2024 WSF World Junior Squash Championships, with the event set to be held in Houston, Texas July 12-23, 2023.The 2024 edition, which will feature both men’s and women’s junior individual tournaments, will take place at the Houston Squash Club, which is also home to two PSA World Tour Gold events the Houston Open.Next year's championships will also see the men’s and women’s junior team championships being held simultaneously for the first time in event history.The 2023 event, which was staged in Melbourne, Australia, saw Egyptian 16-year-old Amina Orfi claim her second consecutive women’s individuals title and Pakistan’s Hamza Khan become his country’s first champion since Jansher Khan in 1986.In the women’s team event, Egypt also claimed their tenth WSF Women’s World Junior Team Championship title and eighth in succession.This will be the first time US Squash has hosted the event since the 2011 women’s individual and team championships in Boston, when the women’s team - led by 2010 individual junior world champion Amanda Sobhy - finished runner up to Egypt.“Houston is one of the fastest growing squash communities in the U.S. and we are looking forward to hosting the world’s best junior players in Texas, ” said Kevin Klipstein, US Squash President & CEO. “The community is incredibly diverse and energetic, and we applaud all of Jahanzeb Khan’s efforts at Houston Squash Club. Asian Juniors Individual Squash Championship: Pakistan wins only single gold medal
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Pakistan claimed one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the Asian Juniors Squash Championship 2023 that concluded at Dalian, China on Sunday. It is noteworthy to mention here that Pakistan had won three gold and one silver medal in 2018, and won a team event in 2022 in India after thrashing the hosts in the final.According to Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), Nauman Khan and Ahmad Rayyan Khalil both Pakistani lads played of the final of Under-13 age category. Nauman Khan beat compatriot Ahmad Rayyan Khalil 3-2 in a five games nail-and-bite contest. The final score line was 9/11, 11/8, 6/11, 11/3, 11/9. Abdullah Nawaz won the bronze medal in the Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship Under-17 category competitions.President PSF, Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar congratulated the players and officials on their remarkable performances in the championship.

Sri Lanka ready to participate in Asian Junior’s Championship
Sports Bulletin ReportColombo (Sri Lanka): The Sri Lankan junior squash team is all set to compete in the 30th Asian Junior Individual Championships in Dalian, China. The team is led by Nevindu Lakman, who is ranked third in Asia in the Under-19 category and Chanithma Sinaly Under-19 girls Champion.The team is confident of doing well in the tournament and left the island on Saturday 12th Aug evening along with Tour Manager Colonel Mangala Balasuriya and Lady Chaperone Padmini Chandrasiri from Visaka Vidyalaya.The players have been training hard for the past few months under head coach Chaminda Thalagala along with other 4 assistant coaches and are eager to represent their country on the international stage. They are also motivated by the recent success of Sri Lankan squash players, such as Ravindu Laksiri (PSA World rank 121), and Nevindu Lakman, who have both achieved great success in recent years internationally.The team is hoping to make a mark in the tournament and bring back some medals for Sri Lanka. They are also hoping to inspire other young squash players in Sri Lanka to achieve their dreams. We wish our junior players all the courage to perform well.
