Women Sports Week kicks off on March 2, 2020
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (February 29, 2020):-Chairman, Organizing Committee,  Mohammad Azam Dar, who is also the Deputy Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) announced on Saturday that 11 sports disciplines would be the part of Women’s Sports Week, which would be kicked off on March 2, 2020 at Pakistan Sports Complex under the banner of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). He further said that all arrangements had been finalized in the Organizing Committee Meeting that held on Saturday at Conference Hall of PSB and it was decided that 11 sports disciplines would be the part of women sports showpiece including Tennis, Hockey, Taekwondo,  Netball,  Baseball,  Table Tennis, Volleyball,  Judo, Swimming, Football and Soccer Futsal. According to scheduled, the Tennis and Hockey events will be played on March 2, at Tennis Court  and Outer Track ground respectively while Taekwondo and Netball on March 3 at Biomechanics Lab. and Rodham Hall respectively.   On March 4, Baseball and Table Tennis will be held at Baseball Ground and Rodham Hall respectively, Volleyball on March 5 at Hameedi Hall, Judo on March 6 at Biomechanics Lab, Swimming and Football on March 7 at Swimming Pool and Jinnah Stadium respectively. Soccer Futsal will be played on March 8 at Rodham Hall. He further said that trophies, medals and certificates will be awarded to players. He further said that the refreshments will be including Juice, Lays and Mineral Water for players at the venues. Adnan Malik, Senior Vice President, Pakistan Futsal Federation will sponsor the Trophies, Medals, Certificates and Refreshments to the all players and teams.

PCTSG nominates Shafqat Mehmood its president
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 13, 2020):-Pakistan Council for Traditional Sports and Games (PCTSG) in its General Body meeting held at Islamabad Club decided to revive the Traditional Sports and Games in Pakistan. Khalil Ahmed Khan, the President of International Council for Traditional Sports and Games, chaired this meeting, which was attended by Senator Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif. Also, all stakeholders from federal, provincial governments, traditional sports associations and organizations also attending this meeting. The chair briefed about UNESCO’s initiative for revival of traditional sports and games its importance for Pakistan. He expressed concern over our fading trend of traditional sports in the country and stressed the need to build synergies among the stakeholders to harmonize diversity of cultures of the country, empowering youth and women through revival of TSG. He said that creating awareness, holding national and international events, documentations and research would be the priority of the Council. Senator Mohammad Ali Saif said that engagement of youth in rural and urban diversity of traditional sports in different provinces and regions of the country could lead to national cohesion.  He assured his support for revival of TSG in the country for national cohesion and projecting soft image of the country. The representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO, KPK Sports Board, Islamabad Capital Territory and other stakeholders appreciated the efforts of UNESCO for revival of TSG at international national. They also shared their views about revival of TSG and showed their willingness to support this very important neglected aspect of the society. The Council also approved the holding of International Traditional and Sports Festival at Gawadar. Also, stressed the need to create awareness about TSG, its documentation and holding of events. The Statutes of the PCTSG was approved unanimously by the house. The Executive Board of the following members has been elected. Shafiqat Mehmood, Federal Minister for Education and Training has been nominated to hold the office of President. Senator Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, Senior Vice President, Azam Efandi Brig. ( R ), Hussain Ahmed Madni, Abdul Ghaffar Khan, Malik Mehrban Ali, Syed Khalid Hussain, Mohammad Shahid Islam, Sajida Nasreen, Mian Salman Islam, Mohammad Tariq Abbasi, Syed Ghayur Hussain are elected Vice Presidents. Barrister Iftikhar Raza Khan, Barrister Iftikhar Raza Khan, Secretary General, Abu Zafar Sadiq, Associate Secretary, Haider Ali Daud, Press Secretary, Kazim Ali Chagezi, Finance Secretary, Mohammad Raza Khan Advocate, Mohammad Ali Bukhari, Advocate, Nisar Ahmed Shahwani, Col Rtd. Rizwan Ahmed, Dr. Nauman Saeed, Tariq Ali, Furqan Ahmed Khan, Umar Habib, Mohammad Umar, Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, Shakil Yousuf, Khalil Jabran, Wasim Abbas have been elected as Executive Members.

President Alvi gives away prizes to skiers
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 12, 2020)- The Prize distribution ceremony of 4th Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Karakoram International Alpine Ski Cup, 3rd Malam Jabba International Alpine Ski Cup and 27th National Ski Championship held at Serena Hotel Islamabad. President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi graced the occasion as chief guest. Air Marshal Ahmer Shehzad, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, who is also President Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan was also present at the occasion. Aziz Bolani, CEO Serena Hotels, ambassadors, high ranking defence & civil officials also attended the ceremony. Speaking at the occasion, the President thanked the international players for their participation in these events and hoped that they would take along cherished memories of Pakistan’s magnificent beauty and traditional hospitality. He urged the foreign players to act as the ambassadors of Pakistan and portray the true picture of this land of wonders in their respective countries. He lauded the efforts of Pakistan Air Force and Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan in the promotion of winter sports in the country and added that it would not only help in finding new talent but also promote tourism industry in the country. The chief guest awarded souvenirs to the winning players. 36 International Skiers along with Pakistani skiers participated in both men and women categories of these events.

Talha wins 3 gold in international weightlifting
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (February 11, 2020):-Talha Talib has won three gold medals in 67kg category competition in International solidarity Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, which is also a qualification event for Tokyo Olympic Games 2020. He won one gold medal in Snatch event by lifting 142kg & won another gold medal in Clean & Jerk event by lifting 162kg. His 3rd gold medal was in total aggregate by lifting 304kg’s. Altogether more than 40 countries are participating in these competitions including Turkey, Serbia, Libya, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Ghana. It is worth mentioning that Talha Talib has also won 1 gold & 2 silver medals in the last edition of these championships held in Cairo Egypt 2018.

Khushim clinches gold in the Giant Slalom fixture
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (February 6, 2020):-After winning gold medal in the Women’s Giant Slalom category of 4th Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Karakoram International Alpine Ski Cup, talented Pakistani skier Khushim Sahiba also clinched gold medal in the same category of 3rd Malam Jabba International Alpine Ski Cup. She carried on with her superb performance from the opening day of the event and outperformed her opponents on the majestic Malam Jabba ski slope. Elvira Zakarayeva from Azerbaijan won the silver medal, while Umama Wali from Pakistan got the bronze. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian skiers remained unassailable in the Men’s Giant Slalom Category.  It was a close competition between Nazarity Petruk & Ivan Kravchuk, however, Nazarity Petruk earned the gold by getting 1st position. The bronze medal was also won by another Ukrainian Aib Vitalli.  Seasoned skiers from Pakistan Mir Nawaz and Muhammad Abbas also had a wonderful race but they could not finish on the podium.

Women Sports Festival from February 25
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (January 31, 2020):-A women’s Sports Festival will be taken place from February 25 to March 8, 2020 at the different sports venues Pakistan Sports Complex under the banner of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Islamabad. As many as 13 sports disciplines including Football, Hockey, Softball, Swimming, Baseball, Squash, Netball, Soccer Futsal, Judo, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Tenpin Bowling will be the part of sports festival According to a spokesman for PSB, Mohammad Azam Dar, in this regard, a high level meeting held at PSB, which was chaired by Director General, Pakistan Sports Board, Amina Imran on Friday at Conference Room of Pakistan Sports Board. Deputy Director General (Technical), Assistant Director (Women Wing)  Shazia Ejaz and the representatives of the participating games attended the meeting. Azam Dar told to media after the meeting that exhibition matches of the various games would also be played during festival including Football, Hockey, Softball, Swimming, Baseball, Squash, Netball, Soccer Futsal, Judo, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Taekwondo and Tenpin Bowling. Swimming competitions will be held at Swimming Pool, Baseball and Softball competitions at Baseball ground, Squash at Mushaf Squash Complex, Soccer futsal at Rodham Hall, Hockey at Naseer Bunda Stadium, Football at Jinnah Stadium, Taekwondo at Amir Khan Boxing Hall and Tenpin Bowling at Leisure City Club, Jinnah Park, Rawalpindi while Netball Judo, Volleyball and Table Tennis will be played at Hameed Hall.

National Netball Championships from February 27 in Islamabad
SB News ISLAMABAD (January 15, 2020): National Men and Women Netball Championship will start from February 27, 2020, at Hamdi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. Pakistan Army will defend their both titles Men and Women in the Championship. According to President, Pakistan Netball Federation PNF), Mudassar Arain, as many as 16 teams from all over the country have been invited for the participation including Pakistan Army,  Pakistan Railway, Pakistan Air force, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan WAPDA. Pakistan Police, Higher Education Commission, FATA, LUMS, Gilgit Baltistan. Pakistan Inter Board, AJK, Sindh, KPK, LGS, Balochistan and Islamabad.  The quarterfinals and semifinals will played on February 28 and March 1, respectively  while finals of both categories men and women will be held on February 2. After the finals matches, Trophies, Medals and Certificates will be delivered to the winning teams.

Sports Gala concludes with Peshawar victory
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (January 15, 2020):-Pakistan Intermediate Secondary Education Board Peshawar clinched the title of Pakistan Inter Board Sports Gala 2020 that concluded on Wednesday at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. On the concluding day, Faisalabad defeated Lahore in the hockey final 4-3 at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium. After first three quarters the match was leveled 1-1, however, both teams played an open hockey in last quarter and Faisalabad finished at 4-3. Peshawar Board got third position. Kabir Khan, Mohammad Habib, Abduk Qayyum and Mudassar Ahmed scored each one goal each for Faisalabad while Emad Khan scored two goals from Lahore. Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Fahmida Mirza graced the closing ceremony as chief guest. Director General Pakistan Sports Board Amina Imran Khan, Aga Amjadullah Khan Deputy Director Facilities Mohammad Ramzan Jamali Coordinator and Ghulam Shabbir Chana were also present on this occasion.

Badminton: Peshawar, Multan, Technical and Gujranwala Boards qualify for semifinals
SB News ISLAMABAD (January 13, 2020):- Peshawar Board, Multan Board, Technical Board Peshawar and Gujranwala Board qualified for the semifinals of badminton event of Inter Boards Sports Gala on Monday here at Rodham Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex. In first match BISE Peshawar beat Mardan by 2-0 while in the second BTE Peshawar beat Sahiwal by 2-0. In the third match Gujranwala beat Faisalabad by 2-1 while in the fourth quarterfinal match Multan beat Mirpur Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) by 2-0 to qualify for the semifinal.   BISE Peshawar beat Swat Board by 2-0 in the final of table tennis. In the third position match, Technical Education Board Peshawar defeated the Intermediate Board Karachi  by 2-0.

Technical Officials Education and Certificate System Level–I Course concludes
SB News LAHORE:-Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) organizinged a 5-day Technical Officials Education and Certificate System (TOECS) Level – I Course in with the collaboration and support of World Armature Athletics Federation (IAAF) and Area Development Centre (ADC) Jakarta at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Coaching Centre Lahore.  Five days TOECS course concluded Sunday. The participants of course gain a lot of knowledge from this course.  On the occasion of closing ceremony of TOECS course Major Gen (Retd) Mohammad Akram Sahi, President Athletics Federation of Pakistan and Vice President Asian Athletics Association distributed the certificates among the participants of course. As many as 24 Technical Officials from all affiliated units of AFP attended the TOECS Level 1 course. Wg Cdr Pervaiz Saeed Mir has conducted this course.
