Summer Training Camp concludes at Nathia Gali
Shakeel-ur-Rehman PESHAWAR: A three-day summer training camp organized by the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for people of different abilities at Nathia Gali. More than 40 people from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in the camp. At the closing ceremony Deputy Director Sports Jamshed Baloch and Regional Sports Officer Hazara Region Ahmed Zaman distributed the prizes among the athletes. International Cricketer Zia Noor, Chief Coach Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shafqat, Assistant Director Aizaz Khan, Sajid Afridi and other important personalities were present. For the first time in the history of the country, A three-day summer training camp was organized for positive recreation including overcoming obstacles and building self-confidence in them. In addition to indoor and outdoor competitions, summer camp National Speeches, Trekking, Camping, Awareness Campaign Walk, Quiz, Naat Khawani Competition Summer Camp invites 40 male and female athletes who have represented Pakistan at national and international level in Paralympic Games to showcase their talents.

MD PTV Mubashir Tauqir vows to provide top sports facilities to players
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Managing Director/Patron Sports Cell, Pakistan Television Corporation Limited, Sayyed Mubashir Tauqir Shah vowed to restart sports activities in the PTV at the top level with preference after a three years Covid-19 period. He was speaking to officials and players of PTV in a colourful ceremony that took place here on Wednesday. “Sports make the image of country at international level, however, sports also make the image of organization in the country and sports are vital for healthy activities, “he added. President PTV Sports Cell/Director Admin & Personnel, Saif Ullah Shahid along with other directors of PTV also attended the ceremony. On this occasion, MD PTVC has issued instructions to reactivate sport activities among the PTV employees besides raising the professional teams of hockey, football and other sport disciplines for participation in the national level tournaments. Professional cricket team will also be reactivated after uplift of the ban on departmental cricket. He has also directed to arrange tournaments of cricket, hockey, football, table-tennis, badminton, races and golf in order to mark the ‘Jashan-e-Azadi’ celebrations. Earlier, Mohammad Arif Qureshi, the international official of PTV highlighted the achievements of PTV Sports Cell. He thanked MD, PTVC & DAP/President PTV Sports Cell for their valuable support for the uplift of games in PTV. He also promised that the necessary facilities would be provided to PTV Sports Cell for the promotion of healthy activities in PTV and for participation of team at National Level Tournaments.

Foreign tourists to start Islamabad-Khunjerab rickshaw adventure on Saturday
Raja Mohammad Shafik ISLAMABAD:-A group of foreign tourists has found a unique way of incorporating rickshaws into an adventure, as all the things set to start the mission to cover around 745 kilometre distance from Islamabad to Khunjerab Pass on the three-wheelers on Saturday (June 18, 2022). “Our eight-member outfit include four adventurists from UK and one each from Italy, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands,” the team leader Carnall Julian Rohann told media here at Media Centre of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Friday. “We’ll depart on the expedition on Saturday and will complete it in seven days. We know we’ll have to tackle a huge distance. The journey is quite tough but this is what the adventure is all about,” he added. He said the trip was aimed at promoting mountain sports and tourism in Pakistan. He said after the venture, the team would release Vlogs, stories and pictures of the mountain tourism of Pakistan, especially of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. “The majestic scenes of Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa are second to none. The snow-laden peaks and sun-kissed valleys along with winding roads at highly dizzying altitudes make the region a perfect tourist destination. We want the world should know about it,” he said. “Reaching there in the rickshaws is quite challenging. But we’ve years of experience as we have already been taking part in such voyages in India, Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. We’ve also practiced here in Pakistan and are confident to complete the mission,” he added. After departing from Islamabad, the adventurists will stay at Balakot where tourist police will welcome them. Their next stopover will be at Batakundi. On the third day, they will cross the Babusar Top and reach Chilas where they will be received by Chilas District Administration. After spending the night there, they will proceed to Gilgit and move to Hunza valley. Finally, they will reach Khunjerab Pass, which is located at a spectacular height of almost 5,000 metres. The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Special Communication Organization would hold a reception for the team. Shahid Islam, Deputy Director General PSB, who was also present during the media briefing, appreciated the efforts of Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) and other key stakeholders for the promotion of mountain sports and tourism. Abu Zafar Sadiq, President of ACP highlighted the importance of mountain sports and tourism. He stressed the need to project this potential with strategic market to allure mountain sports and tourism in Pakistan. He thanked Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari and DG PSB Col. (retd), Mohammad Asif Zaman, for facilitating and promoting sports tourism in Pakistan. Pakistan wants to enhance relations with Kazakhstan in all fields including sports: Says Ehsan
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Kazakhstan Ambassador in Islamabad Yerzhan Kistafin on Wednesday called on Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari at his office and discussed various points including the sports relations between both nations. According to ministry of IPC, Ambassador proposed that there are various areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries specifically in tourism and sports which could bring two nations even closer. Yerzhan Kistafin told the Federal Minister that recently a large exhibition of Pakistan (Gilgit-Baltistan) products was arranged in the largest metropolis Almaty. Moreover, various business groups, tourist groups visited Pakistan and Kazakhstan is keen to sign a MoU regarding tourism with Pakistan.  Federal Minister Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari welcomed the proposals and said: “We are also looking forward to take these friendly relations to new heights specifically in sphere of sports involving youth from both the nations. Both nations enjoy the 30 years of diplomatic relations and we have to work mutually for extending these beyond the current status.  Pakistan is a home to the world’s second highest mountain in the world K-2 along with other high peaks, this can be a greatest attraction for mountaineers from Kazakhstan”.

Young Mountaineers Shehroze and Abdul Joshi call on Minister IPC
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD:- Young mountaineers, Shehroze Kashif and Abdul Joshi called on Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari on Wednesday at his office Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). President Alpine Club Abu Zafar Sadiq was also in the meeting. Shehroze Kashif during the meeting with Federal Minister Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari expressed his future plan of becoming the world’s youngest man to climb all 14 highest mountains in the world. It would not only bring pride for the nation but will also promote tourism and help the economy. Federal Minister Ehsan-ur-Rehman said: “It is delightful to see our youth is associated to the challenging sport of mountain climbing and building soft image of Pakistan. I assure that anyone who will contribute building soft image of Pakistan is indeed praiseworthy. The government will provide him maximum support to achieve this honor for the nation. I hope young people will come forward and bring laurels for their country”. Mountaineering is quite a challenging sport and Pakistan is blessed with few of the highest mountains including world’s second highest peak K-2, these peaks attract number of mountaineers, climbers and tourists from across the globe. Pakistan has also produced great mountaineers who conquered these giants and one of those young mountaineers is Shehroze Kashif who started trekking and mountaineering just at the age of 11. Before he reached 20, he already had climbed world’s seven highest mountains.
Karachi players retain Inter Divisional Women Softball Championship title
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI:-Defending champions Karachi softball team defeated Hyderabad by 8 runs to win 7th Inter Divisional Women's Softball Championship at Public School Hyderabad under the auspices of Sindh Softball Association (SSA). In the final, Hyderabad scored 1 run in the first innings. In reply, Karachi scored 4 runs. Hyderabad team could not score any runs in the second innings. Karachi players showed excellent play in their second innings by scoring 5 more runs and increasing their total score to 9 by winning against Hyderabad by 8 runs to clinch the championship. Sabin, Mursaleen and Farasha scored two runs each for Karachi. Tulsi Meghwar scored one run for Hyderabad. Karachi's Zarlash Shakeel was declared the best player of the final. Earlier in the match for the third position, Larkana defeated Sukkur by 9 to win the bronze medal. Adina Hassan of Karachi was awarded Best Hitter, Mursaleen Pervez Catcher, Sobia of Larkana Pitcher and Tulsi Meghwar of Hyderabad was awarded Best Fielder. Special guests at the awards ceremony were New Ports Institute Chairperson Huma Bukhari, Softball Federation of Pakistan Chairperson Tehmina Asif, Sindh Olympic Association Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, Fruit Nation's Faisal Khan, Advance Lab's Faisal Qasim, SSA President Wasim Hashmi and Secretary Muhammad Zeeshan Merchant distributed trophies, medals, certificates and gifts among the players. Speaking on the occasion, Huma Bukhari said: “Inter-Divisional Championship has not only provided ample opportunities for the players to showcase their talents but also enhanced the spirit of mutual harmony, brotherhood and love between them. "I am sure that the players who show outstanding performance in the event can be a part of Sindh and Pakistan national softball team in future", she said. Huma Bukhari said the SSA provided an ideal environment in the field of play including accommodation, food and transport facilities to the players and officials of all the teams participating in the championship.

PCTSG determines to revive the traditional sports in Pakistan
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:- Pakistan Council for Traditional Sports & Games (PCTSG) is keen to revive the traditional sports in all over the Pakistan, as a meeting of Pakistan Council Traditional Sports and Games held at National Library, Islamabad. The meeting was attended by the representative Councils from the four provinces, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). According to an official, awareness about traditional sports and games, its documentations, orientation, training and competitions will be held across the country. The affiliated units will hold regular such activities at grass-root level. The sports teachers and other key stakeholders will be taken on board. The awareness campaign shall start with seminars, workshops and conference on line and physical mode. The first ever Sports Teachers’ Conference shall be held at Islamabad. The Private Schools Association of Islamabad and other stakeholders will jointly organize it. The sports teachers would also be taught about traditional sports games besides other important sports discipline like mountain sports, martial arts and importance of physical health and sports. Similar activities would be held across the country. Brig. Azam Effandi, Senior Vice President presented details about the actions taken by Pakistan Council for Trational Sports and Games (PCTSG). At this occasion Khalil Ahmed Khan, President, International Council for Traditional Sports and Games stressed the importance of revival of traditional sports and games and appreciated the efforts so far taken by Pakistan Council for Traditional Sports and Games. Syed Zeeshan Naqvi, President of Islamabad Council for Traditional Sports and Games also presented details about the activities being undertaken for revival of traditional sports at Islamabad. Mohamamd Tariq Abbasi, Abu Zafar Sadiq, Zofran, Abdul Wahid, Raja Azad, Faiza and other office bears of PCTSG were present at this occasion.

Thailand beat Pakistan 20-15 in the first match of Asia Rugby Div-II Championship
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Thailand defeated Pakistan 20-15 in the first match of the Asia Rugby Division-II Championship 2022 at Punjab Stadium, Lahore Sunday night. Despite the defeat in the first match, Pakistan still have bright chances to  qualify for Division-I, if they defeat Thailand in the second match, which will be played on June 1 at the Punjab Stadium, Lahore. At the moment Thailand's team is up by 5 points so the Pakistan need to earn a victory with a margin. Thailand scored penalties in the first half, followed by a try by the Pakistan team, which had a 7-to-6 edge at the halftime. Pakistan placed a lot of pressure on the Thailand team in the second half but missed some crucial chances of converting tries by Pakistani forwards. Luc Michel, Etienne Legrand, Sarut Janda, and Thanapong Punjpang scored tries for Thailand, while Ali Shahid and Khalid Hussain Bhatti scored tries for Pakistan. President Pakistan Rugby Union Arif Saeed, Secretary Salman Shaikh, Asia Rugby Chief Executive Johny Stavrinou, Media Manager Khurram Haroon, Tournament Director Ghaith Jalajel, Aitchison College Principal Michael Thomson, DG Sports Board Javed Chohan, Director Sports Board Hafeez Bhatti, and a large number of former rugby players were all present during the match. Meanwhile, the Thailand team had a very busy day in Lahore the next day of the first match. They started the day with a visit to the Historic Lahore Fort. According to the players, they have a great time in the fort. "I took several photos with the locals," a Thai player said. The team then went to a local shopping mall for some shopping, where they met with the general public and took some photos before returning to the hotel in the evening.

A Day Mixed Martial Arts Seminar concludes
Sports Bulletin Report KARACHI:-A one-day seminar for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) referees and judges was held under the banner of Sindh Mixed Martial Arts Association on Sunday at Karachi Center of Pakistan Sports Board that attended by officials from Hyderabad, Larkana and Mirpur Khas regions, besides Karachi. Also present were representatives of Sindh Police SSU Unit and Airport Security Force ASF. Distinguished guests of the event were Rehan Hashmi, Young Member National Assembly and Chairman Karachi MMA Association, President Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation Zulfiqar Ali, Chairman Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation Tariq Ali, Director Sports of Karachi University Rashid Ali Qureshi, Sharq Ali, Technical Director, Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation Zubair Khan, Vice President, Sindh Mixed Martial Arts Association; Imran Qasim Khan, Head Coach, Sindh Mixed Martial Arts Association; Secretary Daniel Khan and others were also present on the occasion. Course instructors were Abu Huraira and Dilawar Sanaan Khan while the closing ceremony was directed by renowned MMA commentator and journalist Waqas Raza. On this occasion, the President of the Federation Zulfiqar Ali said that the main purpose of the event was to elevate overall capabilities and knowledge base of local officials, make the local referees and judges aware of the international rules and regulations of mixed martial arts and to ensure the physical safety of the players.

Rugby: Hosts Pakistan keen to meet Thailand on May 29, 2022
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Stage set to host Asia Rugby Division II Championship 2022 here at Lahore, said Arif Saeed President Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) in a press conference, along with Asia Rugby Chief Executive Johny Stavrinou, Tournament Director Ghaith Jalajel, Secretary PRU Salman Shaikh, Pakistan Rugby team Head coach Gert Mulder, Pakistan national team Captain Hamad Safdar, Thailand head coach Withapong Jindasawat, Captain Patchraaphat Sornritchingchai, Chief Selector PRU Rizwan Malik. The manager of the Thailand rugby team Suti Meethavorn, Director Punjab sports board Hafeez Bhatti, Asia Rugby Media manager Khurram Haroon, PRU management were also present on the occasion. President PRU Arif Saeed welcomed the Thailand rugby team and management of Asia Rugby to the great city of Lahore. All arrangements have been completed to host Thailand here in Lahore. Pakistan Rugby Union is honored to host such a big event of Asia Rugby DIV II championship. We will host this event in a very positive manner as we have done many International events in the past. First test match between Pakistan and Thailand will be played on 29th May 2022 at 7.30 pm in Punjab Stadium while 2nd match on 1st June 2022 here at Punjab Stadium Lahore. He was hopeful that Pakistan team will play high quality rugby and has a good chance for qualifying for Div I. He said we are pleased to have the services of a high quality coach in the form of Gert Mulder from South Africa. Tournament Director who came from Jordan Ghaith Jalajel said that after Covid restrictions and 2019 this is Asia Rugby`s first 15 a Side ranking event. Pakistan national team captain Hamad Safdar said that our boys have trained really hard over the past three months and are hopeful of qualifying for Division I for the first time. Thailand Captain Patchraaphat Sornritchingchai said that we have a good experience playing in this sort of hot weather and are looking forward to this event.
