Abdullah Asjad ISLAMABAD (November 3, 2021):-The players and officials of 7 countries have arrived in the capital city Islamabad to take part in the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International Taekwondo Championship that will commence from November 6, 2021 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad under the banner of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation. According to an official of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), the players from Oman, Jordon, Kazakhstan, Egypt and El-Salvador landed at Islamabad International Airport where the top officials of the federation welcomed the guests and guided them to their hotels. Also, the officials of Iraq and Nepal including match referees have also arrived in Islamabad. Oman's squad consisted of four players and an official. Besides hosts Pakistan 15 countries will participate in the international taekwondo fixture and will fight for the top honour. Sixteen gold medals will be decided in male and female competition during the three-day prestigious Marshall Art event. Besides hosts Pakistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Nepal, Jordon, Kazakhstan, Oman, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Morocco, United Arab Emirates (UAE), El-Salvador, Croatia, and WT Refuge Team will take part in the championship 2021. Over 550 including players and officials will be the part of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International Taekwondo Championship (G-1).  

Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (November 2, 2021):-Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) decorated the venue of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship, which will be started from November 6, 2021 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. There are beautiful banners all around the international standard hall that has the capacity of ten thousands spectators. “The flags of all participating countries will be waved along with other colourful banners of sponsors. Almost all arrangements have been given final touches, “said an official of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF). “We have established an international standard media center aiming to provide all facilities to the local and international journalists including internet, computer, printer and fax. A separate IT room will be at the venue for players and officials. Foreign journalists will visit Islamabad to cover this mega event, “official further said.  

ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL Islamabad (November 1, 2021):-As many as 419 international and national athletes will take part in the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International Taekwondo Championship (G-1), which will be kicked off from November 6, 2021 at Liaquat Gymnasium Islamabad, this was revealed by president, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) Col (Retd) Wasim Ahmed in a press conference at a local hotel on Monday. While unfolding the details of the international event, he further told journalists that 375 national male and female local players would be competing in the different disciplines. “Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr Fhemida Mirza will be chief guest on the opening ceremony on November 6, as all the arrangements have been given final touches and me and my team will make the event historical. Around 125 international players and technical officials will be in Islamabad for this mega event. Besides hosts Pakistan, Afghanistan, Albania, Nepal, Jordon, Kazakhstan, Oman, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Morocco, United Arab Emirates (UAE), El-Salvador, Croatia, and WT Refuge Team will fight for 16 gold medals, “he added. “We have international standard equipment to meet the international challenges and PTF is capable of staging such a great event. Our aim is to promote the game and highlight the positive image of Pakistan across the world through sports. We have a lot of support from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) to organize this event. Responding to a question he divulged that PTF had also invited India for this event but they did not respond. “India has good taekwondo players, especially girls. Anyhow, we sent invitations to all countries. Many countries are not coming for this event owing to the airfares that have gone high due to covid-19. Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (October 30, 2021):-Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship will be held in the first week of November 4 to 8, 2021 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad under the banner of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF). Young people mostly aged 18 and above are going to participate in Senior Male and Female Khyrougi Event. Pakistani National and International Referees will be joined by a various other International Referees for the smooth conduct of this prestigious championship. Commenting on the preparations of the event, President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Lt Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmed, said that PTF would deliver, in every sense, the warmest and friendliest COAS Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship in sincere spirit and genuine warmth in our Beautiful Capital Islamabad. He emphasized that such events are beneficial for the professional development of our officials/ athletes. These events improve the organizational skills of National Sports Federations, ultimately creating a better image of the beloved country. Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 29, 2021):-Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) celebrated the World Judo Day on October 28, along with holding the 9th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-District Judo Championship that held Lala Rafique Sports Arena on Thursday under the aegis of District Government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judo Association. Former Sports Minister and Senior Vice President Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah was the chief guest on this occasion. President Sports Writers Association KP Ijaz Ahmad Khan, District Sports Officer Tehseen Ullah Khan, Administrator Peshawar Sports Complex Syed Jaffar Shah, Vice President Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Masood Ahmad, officials, players were also present during the World Judo Day celebration falling on October 28 with a theme “Solidarity”. “We have proven that with unity and solidarity, we can overcome any obstacles, '' Syed Aqil Shah in his address to the ceremony said. Whether individually or as a team, judokas worldwide proved that solidarity is not just a notion, Aqil Shah added. Earlier, in connection with World Judo Day, the KP Inter-District Women and Men Judo Championship was organized jointly by District Sports Officer Peshawar, PJF wherein Lakki Marwat won Women title by winning three gold medals and three silver medal, Peshawar took second with one gold, three silver medal and Abbottabad got one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. In the Men's, Peshawar won the title with three gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals, followed by Charsadda with two gold and two silver medals and Khyber took three silver and one bronze medal. In the Peshawar took first position, followed by Charsadda with two gold medal and as many silver medals, Malakand took third position with two gold medal and one bronze medal. Nowshera and Mardan took one silver medal each while Khyber took three silver medals and one bronze medal, Bajaur took two bronze medals. In the Women Lakki took, Peshawar and Abbottabad took first, second and third position respectively while Kohat with one gold and one silver took fourth position and Mansehra took fifth position by winning two bronze medals. He said that as a family we will celebrate all events with IJF. At the last, they distribute the certificate among the participants. At this moment South Asian Gold Medalist Hamid Ali also was there. 2)   On the instructions of PJF, Sindh Judo Association organized an event at World Judo Day at Gymnasium Sir Syed University Karachi. The Registrar of the University Commodore (Retd) Syed Sarfarz Ali and Secretary of Sindh Judo Association Mohammad Rafique and all their Judokas participated in the event. A lot of male and female Judokas took part enthusiastically in the celebration of Judo World day. 3) Punjab Judo Association Organized 32th Punjab Inter District Judo Championship on the day of World Judo Day Asif Iqbal President and Qamer Shakeel of Punjab Judo Association was present at the occasion and cut the cake. 4) In Faisalabad, the day was celebrated by Faisalabad Judo Association by organizing Judo Championship and cut the cake. A lot of male and female Judokas took part enthusiastically in the celebration of Judo World day. The players were informed about Judo's history on this occasion.

Sports Reporter KARACHI (October 29, 2021):-Pakistan JiuJitsu top athletes will represent Pakistan in the World Championship that will be kicked off from November 3, 2021 in Abu Dhabi.  According to an official, the World JuJitsu Championhip is going to be held in Abu Dhabi from November 01 to 11, 2021 in which the top athletes of World will show their game skill in the 11-day fixture. Zulfiqar Ali will be team Manager cum Coach in the event and team players Mohammad Ali Rashid, Dilawar Khan Sunan, Mohammad Yousaf Ali, Mohammad Rohaan Khan, Isra Wasim and Hurmat Mansoor will represent Pakistan in the championship and Tariq Ali will lead the Team as head of Delegates and he will also represent PJJF/Pakistan during World congress 2021 at Abu Dhabi. Khalil Ahmad Khan, President, Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation, expressed hope that our players, as always, would succeed in brightening the name of the country and the nation.

Sports Desk ISLAMABAD (October 28, 2021):-Every year, October 28 is a special date for the international judo community, a day of celebration of our sport, on the birthday of our founder, Jigoro Kano Shihan. In 2021, on World Judo Day, we celebrate judo under the theme of SOLIDARITY. We have proven that with unity and solidarity, we can overcome any obstacles: we have managed to organize safe and fair competitions, including a successful World Championship and Olympic Judo Competition and we kept the International Judo Family together. Working as a team, creating fair conditions in a reliable environment yielded together the judo community and I am sure that this made us all stronger. Whether individually or as a team, judokas worldwide proved that solidarity is not just a notion. The International Judo Federation created and implemented a number of projects which would have not been possible without solidarity: judo in refugee camps, the Olympic Judo Refugee team, the first ever online Judo Festival, challenges for the young and older judoka equally, sustainability related projects. Our goal was to stay connected and support each other, to show that we are a united family and we will not leave anyone behind! One of the best judo moments of Tokyo 2020 was the first ever Olympic Mixed Team event, where solidarity and team spirit prevailed in an exceptional manner. I strongly believe that this unforgettable day shaped the hearts and minds of many young judoka, who now know without any doubt that nothing is impossible and together we can achieve outstanding performances. Today, I would like to wish all judokas in the world a Happy World Judo Day, lots of health and success in all their endeavors! I would like to congratulate all athletes, coaches, the IJF member National Federations and Continental Unions, as well as the IJF Executive Committee, the IJF Commissions and staff for their work and results.

Sports Desk ISLAMABAD (October 27, 2021):-The first day of the Kata World Championships, Lisbon, Portugal 2021, took place at the Pavillion 1, Estadio Universitário de Lisboa. Four categories were in action: Nage-no-kata senior and Nage-no-kata U-23, Katame-no-kata senior and Ju-no-kata senior. After the performance of the veterans last week it was a unique and interesting way to show the beauty of our sport through the 'choreography' of kata. The IJF President, Marius Vizer, said, "Our kata specialists have waited patiently for their pinnacle event of the year to re-emerge and with the extraordinary efforts of the local organisers, the 2021 edition of the World Kata Championships promises to reflect the traditions of judo that we hold in such high esteem." IJF Kata commission director, Daniel De Angelis also commented, “The level of the judoka is incredible and we have seen very strong teams. When looking at all the pairs who entered the finals, I can say that any of them could have been world champion today. All these teams have the expertise to go to many world championships and I am happy to see that. Since 2014 this is the largest group of competitors that we had. I am glad to see the numbers growing. We have 102 pairs taking part in this event. We believe that if there was no pandemic, we would have even more athlete participating in. I want also to underline the level of the juniors. For the first time in history, we organised the competition also for athletes under 23 years old. We can say that today they had the same level as their elders. We were expecting a very good level. We witnessed something even better.” Whilst Michel Kozlowski, Sport Director of the Kata Commission explained, "The technical level was particularly high in all the kata presented today. All the finalists had the potential to win and it is not necessarily the leaders of the first rounds, who won at the end. It shows how they were all very good.” We also heard from Michel Huet, Kata Commission Coordination Director, who emphasised the great atmosphere and organisation, "Everything went very well during this first day of competition. We had a really great atmosphere, full of respect, which was worthy of our discipline. It was also the very firs time that we used digital tablets for the refereeing and this worked perfectly giving us the possibility to deliver the results fasters to all the participants and the public.” It can be wholly agreed that the Portuguese Judo Federation delivered a perfect event and knowing the complication of the current situation, the Kata World Championships are already a great success. An important ceremony just prior to the start of the final block was held and a minute of silence was observed in memory of judo community members who contributed to the development of kata in the world and who unfortunately passed away recently. Mr Franco Capelletti, the Chairman of the Kata commission and IJF 10th dan, praised the memory of those we lost, "Dear judo family, the world was hit hard by the covid pandemic. We lost members of our community and it is important to remember them: Veuleman Eric (1942-2021), Murata Naoki (1949-2020), Daigo Toshiro (1926-2021), Matsushita Saburo (1935-2020), Kano Yukimitsu (1933-2020). They were judoka, kata specialists and our friends.” We also spoke to the nage-no-kata World Champion Niels Neumann from Netherlands said: “We are super happy. We work hard today, all the pairs who competed were very strong. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our coaches and all the competitors who helped us to reach this level. We made each other better. We won silver before and we are very proud to win gold this time.” Twin brothers and silver medalists in Nage-no-kata U23, Nikolai and Iaroslav Zhikharev from Russia commented on their experience at the event: “It’s the first time we are participating in the world championships and we got silver. One of us just made a small mistake. So our plan is to keep working on our technique and get a better result in the future.”

This restart of competitions in Paris after the shutdown due to Covid and with it being only a few short months after the Tokyo Olympic Games, was very interesting in more ways than one. First of all, it was a magnificent celebration of the fifty-year history of this legendary tournament. Between 1971 and 2021, the heroes of French and world judo were often built in Paris, because winning in France was and still is a necessary step for a successful career. The list of victories at the world championships and the Olympic Games can go on for pages; a title during the Grand Slam in Paris marks the memories of the athletes themselves and of judo fans. For long minutes, the 8,000 spectators were able to express their joy in front of a parade of world judo legends. If some of the competitors present today competed during the weekend, like Guillaume Chaine, several others are still recovering from this summer but they all reassured the public that they will soon be back. Amandine Buchard was clear, “We will be here in February for the next Paris Grand Slam!” -81kg: Sasaki Demonstrates His Talent One could expect an explosive final between the prodigy Tato Grigalashvili (GEO) and the winner of the Guangzhou Masters in 2018, Takeshi Sasaki (JPN). The Georgian remains in the eyes of many specialists a great champion in the making, capable of attacking in all directions and with spectacular movements. For the moment, the international results of the world number one are still a little below what could be expected of him. At 21 he is still young and has several years to expand his record. Today he found someone stronger than him with Sasaki who gave Grigalashvili no chance by throwing him twice, the first time with a reverse shoulder movement and the second time with a spectacular hip technique. World champion in Budapest in June, the Croatian skipped the Zagreb Grand Prix, in her own country, in order to better prepare for the meeting in Paris. Dressed for the first time on the international circuit in her beautiful red bib, she approached the competition with seriousness and concentration, to reach the final against the Japanese Saki Niizoe. Barbara Matic said, “I was feeling great but in the final something weird happened. We went into ne-waza, she strangled me and I started to feel dizzy. It is ok now, though, she was stronger today.” After a rather balanced start to the final, even if Matic showed some small signs of imbalance, it was finally on the ground, once again that Niioze found the solution by pinning Matic already locked in by a potential shime-waza from the Japanese judoka. And that makes six gold medals for Japan already! After a long golden score and a close match, Yoko Ono won a bronze medal. At the same time, Hilde Jager, fifth in Zagreb a few weeks ago, concluded her weekend with a bronze medal after having defeated Ellen Santana (BRA). Vitaly Makarov, Khalmurzaev's coach said: “We knew the Japanese opponent would wait and counter-attack and that happened. SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT ISLAMABAD (October 14, 2021):-The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) G-1 Taekwondo Championship will be taken place at Liquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad from November 6 to 8 this year 2021. According to president, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) Col (Retd) Mohammad Wasim Janjua, the preparations are underway for the mega international event, as around three 300 athletes will participate. Along with 2 national teams of Pakistan, provincial, departments, and services teams will also participate. International referees have been invited to supervise the matches. The last date of registration for international and national players is October 25.  Wasim further said that foreign teams have shown keen interest in being a part of the COAS G-1 event and all stakeholders including POA, PSB, Pakistan Army, and Taekwondo Federation are keen to see the success of the championship. Wasim Janjua said that Pakistan Taekwondo Federation would nominate international and national personalities as goodwill ambassadors for the event. President of South Asian Taekwondo Association and Honorary Vice President of PTF Omar Saeed said that hosting an international level event would help in highlighting the positive aspects of Pakistan in the field of sports and would send a positive message about Pakistan to the whole world.
