Madrid (Spain): The IFSC Climbing World Cup Comunidad de Madrid 2025 concluded with two climbers celebrating their first-ever World Cup golds in the Lead discipline. Annie Sanders of the USA and Lee Dohyun of South Korea rose to the top of tightly contested finals, each securing the brightest medal with the slightest margin.
In winning, Sanders became the first USA woman to win a World Cup gold in both the Lead discipline and Boulder discipline. Italy’s Laura Rogora took silver ahead of the Olympic silver medallist Brooke Raboutou of the USA. The women’s final saw a dyno move which caught many out, with the few moving past contesting the medals.
In the men’s Lead, the home crowd saw Alberto Ginés López continue his medal streak with a silver medal meaning he has won one every Lead World Cup this season. He was joined on the podium by Japan’s Satone Yoshida who took bronze.
The next Lead World Cup will be the sixth and final of the 2025 series and will take place in Koper, Slovenia on 5-6 September.
