ISLAMABAD (October 30, 2021):-Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship will be held in the first week of November 4 to 8, 2021 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad under the banner of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF).

Young people mostly aged 18 and above are going to participate in Senior Male and Female Khyrougi Event. Pakistani National and International Referees will be joined by a various other International Referees for the smooth conduct of this prestigious championship.

Commenting on the preparations of the event, President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation Lt Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmed, said that PTF would deliver, in every sense, the warmest and friendliest COAS Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship in sincere spirit and genuine warmth in our Beautiful Capital Islamabad.

He emphasized that such events are beneficial for the professional development of our officials/ athletes. These events improve the organizational skills of National Sports Federations, ultimately creating a better image of the beloved country.

He added that I would also like to mention here the support given by the Chief of Army Staff and his office, not only in encouraging the proposal in initial stage but also by providing assistance so that better ties can be developed with other countries through the sports diplomacy.

In line with the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, through sports positive image of the country can be enhanced. Likewise, such events also endorse the continuous efforts of Minister IPC Dr Fahmeeda Mirza and Pakistan Sports Board to bolster sports tourism in the country.

Chief, Pakistan Olympic Association has expressed delight about the event, hoping it will be a good precedent for the other federations/associations and hopefully Pakistan will get to host more such international sporting events.

As many as 550 athletes will compete for gold and glory across 16 (Male/Female) different medal categories. In this regard Secretariat Office will also organize the Media Briefing on 1st Nov 2021 Monday at 2:30 PM at Kehkashan -2, Serena Hotel Islamabad. All the journalists are cordially invited to attend this briefing.
