ITF Tennis: Ahmed and Sohaib win Doubles Quarterfinal
Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD (February 19, 2020):-Local girl Zoha Asim failed to show impressive performance in the second round of the ongoing Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships 2020 at PTF Tennis Complex on Wednesday. In girls Singles Hannah Kaile Shen from Hong Kong made the major upset of the tournament when she overwhelm 2nd seed Dorasa Cheraghi from Iran in straight set win by breaking 9th game in first set and 7th game in second set and moved into the Semi final.  The match lasted 1 hr 45 minutes.  Top seed Ke Ren from China was leading 1-0 against Amina Saliyayeva from USA when she conceded the match due to the diarrhea and fever. 3rd seed Mina Toglukdemir and 4th seed Billur Gonlusen from Turkey are also registered straight set wins and move into the semi finals.  In the Boys singles;  4th seed Ahmed Kamil of Pakistan struggle hard to win his encounter against Nikta Bortnichek from Russia in a well contested thrilling three set match. Wild Card entrant Kerem Ozlale and Tuna Nergizoglue from Turkey, and Aryan Giri from Nepal also move into the quarter final by winning their respective matches in straight sets. In the Boys Doubles event Ahmed Kamil (PAK) / Muhammad Shoaib (PAK) qualified for the semi final by eliminating Chinese Taipai players Kuan Chang Huang (TPE) / Chun Tang (TPE) in straight sets. Min-Hung Kao (TPE) / Araiz Malik (PAK) also moved into the semi final when they got walk over against 2nd seed Matteo Covato (ITA) / Souta Oomura (JPN) due to muscular soreness injury to Matteo Covato from Italy.  Salim Saifullah Khan President, Pakistan Tennis Federation visited PTF Complex to witness the matches of ITF J5 Islamabad; he interacted with the foreign players, coaches and their parents; He also welcomed them in Pakistan. The PRO of Ministry of IPC and the Pakistan Sports Board team also visited PTF Complex and appreciated the arrangements and professional conduct of the international event. ITF Junior Tennis: Zoha Asim moves into second round
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 18, 2020):-Only Pakistan girl Zoha Asim moved into the second round of the ongoing Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships 2020 after defeating her opponent  2-1 at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Tuesday. Solitary local girl Zoha Asim registered her victory in the first round against Sie Ding Chai from Malaysia in sizzling three sets match.  In the first set, Zoha started her match with confidence and took a early lead 2-1 but in the next game she was unable to maintain her lead and Chai leveled the match 4-4all. Zoha again built up the lead by holding her 9th game and broke the 11 game of Chai and won the 1st set at 6-4. Chai won the second set by breaking 4th, 6th and 8th game of Zoha and level the match 1 set all. Zoha hit six double faults in the second set. Zoha won the final set at 6-2 by breaking 1st, 3rd and 7th game of Chai. In an absolutely thrilling encounter of the day was between Dorsa Gherghai (IRI) and Leyla Nilufer Elmas (TUR) in the Girls single match that won by Dorsa Cherghai from Iran, the match lasted 2 hrs 34 minutes. In the Boys Singles, Subhan Bin Salik made the major upset of the tournament when he eliminated 3rd Seed Matteo Covato (ITA) in straight hard fought match and moved into the quarter final.   In the Boys Doubles event unseeded pair from Turkey Birtan Duran (TUR) / Kerem Ozlale (TUR) caused the major upset of the tournament when they brushed off their opponents 3rd seed Nikita Bortinichek (RUS) / Haktan Garayev (AZE) in a excited three set match 7-6(2), 3-6, 10-7. A great achievement of Aisam ul Haq
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 17, 2020):-One and only Pakistani tennis star Aisam ul Haq pairing with Dominic Inglot have won the Doubles Trophy at New York Open Indoor ATP World Tennis Championship played at the most unique and only Black Court Indoor Arena in Long Island. According to Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), it was a thrilling encounter in which Aisam and Dominic overcame their challengers, American pair of Reilly Opelka and Steve Johnson 2-0, as the both sets were decided on tiebreak. The final score-line was 7-6(5) and 7-6(6). In the first set Anglo Pak duo took an early lead by breaking Opelka's very first service game but got broken in 5th game. Thereafter, neither team could break the serves, as the set was then decided in tie break at 7/5 in favor of Aisam and Inglot. Meanwhile, in the second set again Anglo Pak pair got a break up advantage which was a snatched back by Americans. Once again Aisam and Inglot broke the American's serve but were again broken back when they were serving for the set. Same seesaw continued in tiebreak which Aisam and Inglot finally close out the match with a score of 8/6. This was Aisam's 18th doubles title on ATP World Tour. The President, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Salim Saifaullah Khan and the PTF Management and the tennis fraternity congratulated Aisam ul Haq Qureshi and his partner on his great achievement.

Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Championships
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 17, 2020):-Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan started on Monday at PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad. Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, President Islamabad Tennis Association and Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) graced the occasion a chief guest at the opening ceremony.  Also, Lt. Col. Gul  Rehman Secretary PTF, all foreign players and coaches were participated in the opening ceremony. On the opening day 13 matches of Boys Singles were decided and all the seeded players moved in to the second round. The best encounter of the day was played between Subhan Bin Salik (PAK) and Ook Aoi of Japan; In the first set score went up to 4-4all as both the players hold their respective serves. Ook Aoi won the first set at 6-4 by breaking 10th game of Subhan in which he hit one double fault. In the second set Subhan took the lead 5-1 by breaking 1st and 3rd game of Ook Aoi (JPN);  Japanese player fought back and reduced the lead of Subhan by braking 8th game and holding his next two game 7 & 9 of second set. Subhan won the second set at 6-4 by holding his own serve with the help of one Ace. In the final set Subhan again build up the lead 3-1 by breaking 1st game of Ook Aoi in which he made three double fault and won the final set and match at 6-3 by breaking last game. The match last 1 hr 30 minutes.  The 4th seed Ahmed Kamil of Pakistan struggle hard to win his match against Agha Raahim of UK in a well contested and entertaining two set match 6-4, 6-4. Kerem Ozlale (TUR) made the first upset in the tournament when he eliminated 7th seed Zalan Khan of Pakistan in another good match of the day with score of 6-3 7-5. Federal Cup Tennis Championships: Sarah Mehboob lifts title
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 14, 2020):-Sarah Mehboob quashed Sara Mansoor 2-0 in the final of 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship 2020 at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad on Friday. Both top national girls were looking tired after a hectic tour of New Zealand. Final score-line was 7-6 and 6-3. Sarah Mahboob built up the winning lead 2-0 by breaking 2nd game of Sara Mansoor. Sara leveled the score 2-2all by breaking third game of Sarah Maboob and the score went up to 6-6 all as both the players hold their respective services. There was tough fight seen in the tie break as score went up to 5 points all; at this stage Sara Mansoor hit the ball out and then hit the ball into the net. Sarah Mahboob was in fine touch in the second set and did not allow her opponent to settle down with her powerful forehand shorts and won the second set and tile at 6-3. She got the winner prize of Rs.30,000 whereas Sara Mansoor pocketed Rs.18,000 Sarah and Sara Mansoor also winner of the Ladies Doubles title. Tariq Mehmood Murtaza, President Islamabad Tennis Association and Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winner and runner-up. Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Tournament
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 13, 2020):-The Tajammul & Dilawar Abbas Memorial ITF Pakistan Junior Tennis Tournament will commence from February 17 at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad under the banner of Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA). According to Tournament Director Mohammad Khalil Chughtai, the international tournament is being organized and sponsored by family of Late Syed Dilawar Abbas and partially sponsored by Fatima Group and Priority Group of companies.  All the arrangements have been finalized, as the sing-in for the qualifying event will start on Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad. All the participating players and on-site alternate personally sign-in with the Referee. The qualifying matches will be played on 15th Feb (Saturday) and 16th Feb (Sunday), whereas the Main Round will start on Monday February 17, 2020 at same venue. International players from 15 countries Azerbaijan, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, Kuwait, Korea Great Britain, Nepal, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, United States of America (USA), Malaysia and host Pakistan have confirmed their participation. It will be a great opportunity for our upcoming national players to display their skills and earn valuable ITF Ranking Points, which will help them to play International tennis at home and abroad.

Sports Reporter ISLAMABAD:-Pakistan’s star tennis player Aisam ul Haq Qureshi, along with his British doubles partner Dominic Inglot beat the strong, 2nd seeded pair of Dutch player Roger Julien and Romanian Horia Tecau in the quarterfinal of the ATP Tour World Championships in Montpellier, France. According to Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF), in a scintillating encounter, Aisam and Dominic overcame their opponents with the score-line of 7-6, 6-7.11-9. The President PTF Salim Saifullah Khan and the PTF management congratulated Aisam ul Haq Qureshi on this feat.

Federal Cup Tennis, Aqeel lifts Men’s Singles title
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 2, 2020):-To seed and Pakistan number one tennis lad Aqeel Khan won the Men’s Single title of 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship – 2020 by beating Muzammil Murtaza 2-1 in a three sets match at Dilawar Abbas Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Sunday. Aqeel Khan built up the lead 2-0, by breaking the first game of Muzammil Murtaza. Murtaza leveled the score 2 all in the first set breaking the fourth game of Aqeel Khan. Muzammil won the first set at 6-3 by breaking 8th game of Aqeel Khan, by displaying powerful stokes from the baseline. In the 2nd set, score went up to 3 all, as both the players hold their respective service. Aqeel Khan won the 2nd set at 6-3 by breaking 8th game of Muzammil after a long deuce. Both the players displayed the quality tennis. In the final set, Aqeel Khan again took the lead 2-0 by breaking the first game of final set from Muzammil Murtaza by 0-40. When Aqeel Khan won the 6th game by holding his own serve and took the lead 4-2, Muzammil conceded the match due to the injury at 4-2. Finally, Aqeel Khan declared winner and the champion of 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship, as the final match lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. Husnain Mehmood performed the duty of chair referee. Aqeel Khan got the cash price of Rs. 60,000 along with beautiful trophy, whereas Muzammil Murtaza pocketed Rs. 40,000 as runner up. Shahzad and Abid won the double title. Ladies singles final between Sara Mansoor and Sarah Mahboob will be played on 14th Feb, 2020 after the arrival of ladies team from New Zealand. Total amount Rs. 350,000 as prize money was distributed among the winners, as well as daily allowance paid to outstation players. Secretary Islamabad Tennis Association Arif Qureshi paid great tribute to Late Syed Dilawar Abbas for the establishment of ITA and valuable contribution for the uplift of tennis, not only in Islamabad also throughout the country. He was also patron Tariq Murtaza President ITA and Chairman RDCA grace the occasion as chief guest and distributed the cash prizes among the winners. Federal Cup Tennis: Aqeel Khan and Muzammil Murtaza reach in the final
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (February 1, 2020):-Top seed Aqeel Khan and 2nd seed Muzammil Murtaza reached into the Men’s Singles final of the 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships 2020 at Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad on Saturday. In the first semi-final, 2nd seed Muzammil Murtaza proved too good for 8th seed Mohammad Abid and eliminated him in straight sets with the score of 6-4,6-1. He was in good form and hit a number of winners to outplay his opponent. The best encounter of the day was second semifinal which was played between unseeded 17-year old Huzaifa Abdul Rehman from Islamabad and top seed Aqeel Khan on the center court. In the first set, Aqeel built up a 5-3 lead by breaking the 3rd game of Huzaifa. Huzaifa leveled the score 5-5 by breaking the 10th game of Aqeel after seven deuces and then went on to win the first set 7-5 by breaking 12th game of Aqeel. In the 2nd set, the score went up to 3-3 all, as both the players held their serves. Aqeel won the 2nd set by breaking 7th & 9th game of Huzaifa, who hit 8 double faults in the 2nd set. In the final set, Aqeel took a 2-0 lead by breaking 2nd game of Huzaifa, but Huzaifa fought back bravely and leveled the score 2-2 by breaking 3rd game of Aqeel on love. Aqeel served for the match at 5-3, but Huzaifa not only saved a match-point but also broke Aqeel to go 4-5. In a long game, Aqeel finally broke Huzaifa to take the set and match 6-4 and will face Muzammil Murtaza in the final on Sunday at 1-30. In the Senior 45 category event, Irfanulaah and Israr Gul won the title by beating Hameed ul Haq and Mehmood Khan 6-3,6-3. Federal Cup Tennis: Huzifa stuns Ahmed Ch
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (January 30, 2020):-Unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman made the major upset when he eliminated 7th seed Ahmed Ch in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 in the Men's Singles discipline of ongoing 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad on Thursday. A total number of 12 matches were played today in the Men’s Singles; all the seeded players advance into the quarter finals by beating their respective opponents in the pre-quarter finals. Unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman made the major upset when he eliminated 7th seed Ahmed Ch in straight sets 7-5, 6-0; Huzaifa was in fine touch and won the second set without conceding a single game by hitting number of cross court and down the line winners. He will face Mudassar Murtraza in the quarter final.
