Squash News: Quaid-e-Azam Championship starts on Friday
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD:-The 1st Quaid-e-Azam National Championship will commence on Friday (June 2, 2023) here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Pakistan Sports Complex's premises under the supervision of the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF).According to an official of PSF, as many as 13 different age categories competitions will be taken place during the 6-day national squash showpiece. In the first stage Men’s, Women’s Senior along with Men’s & Women’s Masters’ events will be held from June 2 to 04. Boys’ U-9, U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17, U-19, Girls’ U-15, and U19 categories will be from June 4 to 7, 2023.It is noteworthy to mention that Senior Men, Senior Women, Boys U-19 & Girls U-19 events would be organized as PSA National Championship with US$ 1,000 prize money for each discipline. However, Boys & Girls national junior events will have prize money of Rs 100,000. It will be the first time in the history of Pakistan squash 13 categories have been included in a national squash fixture.

Squash News: Zeeshan wins men’s: Mehwish lifts women’s crown
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: Emerging squash lad, Zeeshan Zeb and Mehwish claimed the men’s and women’s titles of the 2nd Torsam Khan & Jahangir Khan PSA Satellite Series after thrashing Mohammad Ammad and Roshna Mehboob in the finals at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.On Tuesday, in the men’s final Zeeshan Zeb claimed an easy victory against Mohammad Ammad in a single-sided contest. Mohammad Ammad proved a hot piece of cake coming from the oven, as the winning lad showed an impressive game. The final score-line was 11-8, 11-3 and 11-6, as the championship match lasted 28 minutes.Earlier, in the women’s final, Mehwish overcame Roshna Mehboob 3-2 in a five-game thrilling contest. Both women were determined to win the title till the end of the last game. The final score-line was 11/6, 11 /9, 4/11, 9/11, 12/10, as the match lasted 37 minutes. Mehwish won the first two games comfortably and lost the next two games: however, she reshuffled her feather and won the last game on tie-break 12-10 to clinch the championship title.Meanwhile, in the Under-15 final, Nauman Khan stunned Malik Haris in straight games 3-0 to win the juniors’ title of the championship 2023, as the final score-line was 11-4, 11-3 and 11-2. It is important to note here that Torsam Khan the son of a great former squash player Roshan Khan and elder brother of squash legend Jahangir Khan. He died of a heart attack on November 28, 1979, during the Australian Open match in Adelaide, Australia.At the closing ceremony, squash icon Jahangir Khan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Combaxx Sports Omar Saeed and CEO of Image Pvt Ltd. Asad Ahmed distributed the prizes amongst the players.

Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI: Rising squash players Zeeshan Zeb and Mohammad Ammad reached in the final of the Men’s Singles discipline after beating their respective opponents in the 2nd Torsam Khan & Jahangir Khan National PSA Satellite Series 2023 at Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex Karachi.In the first semifinal of the men’s fixture, Zeeshan Zeb toiled hard on the court to overcome his challenger Abdullah Nawaz 3-2 in a feisty battle. Both players exhibited top class squash and amused ecstatic crowd. The 1st semifinal match last 60 minutes, as the final score-line was 7-11, 11-4, 11-9, 6-11, and 12-10.Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, well-skilled guy Mohammad Ammad outclassed Usman But in straight games 3-0, as the final score-line was 11-2, 11-5, and 11-7. The match lasted merely 23 minutes. Squash News: Pakistan Junior Team, Noor Zaman claim ASF Awards
Sports Bulletin ReportISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s junior squash team has won the award of ‘The Most Improved Team of the Year 2022’ by the Asian Squash Federation (ASF).The ASF announced the winners of the ASF Performance Awards 2022 on Wednesday. Pakistan’s Junior Squash Team won the ASF Development Award while the country’s top junior player Noor Zaman Khan named for Hassan Musa Asian Award for ‘Outstanding Performance of the Year 2022 in the juniors’ category.The ASF received 18 nominations from seven member countries for seven categories of the ASF Performance Awards and 11 nominations from four countries for four categories of the ASF Coaches Awards this year. The awards will be presented at the forthcoming Asian Individual Championships, which will be taken place from June 6-10 in Hong Kong, China.

Coaching Courses for United States women to start on May 7, 2023
Sports Desk ISLAMABAD: United States (US) Squash has announced the first series of women-only coaching courses to be held in May and June at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia. Led by Linda Elriani, US Squash’s Senior Director of Professional Development and Coaching, the courses were designed for women only in an effort to bring more women into teaching professional roles. Increasing the number of positive female coaching role models is an important piece of expanding the number of women and girls in the sport as US Squash drives towards gender parity in participation. The initial courses will be a Start Squash Coaching Certification Course, May 7, and a Level 1 Coaching Certification Course, June 23-25. Kemp appointed National Performance Coach for Squash New Zealand
Sports Bulletin Report Auckland (New Zealand): Squash New Zealand has announced that Jonathan Kemp has been appointed National Performance Coach. Kemp, a former professional squash player and highly respected coach, brings a wealth of experience to the role and is set to play a crucial role in developing the next generation of elite squash players in New Zealand. Originally from the UK, Kemp enjoyed a successful career as a professional squash player, reaching a career-high ranking of World No. 20. Since retiring from competitive play in 2014 Kemp has established himself as one of the leading coaches in the sport, having worked with a number of top players on the PSA World Tour. In his new role as National Performance Coach, Kemp will be responsible for leading the development of New Zealand’s top squash players and working closely with Squash New Zealand High-Performance manager Shelley Kitchen to create a pathway for players to progress from grassroots to elite level.
