Nayyab AbdulISLAMABAD:-Oman defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 5 wickets in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup Qualifier at Bulawayo Athletic Club Zimbabwe on Wednesday.Oman Captain Zeeshan Maqsood won the toss and choose to field first against the UAE, as they managed 227 for 8 runs in 50 overs. Aayan Afzal Khan was the top scorer with 58 runs. He hit ten fours and faced 52 balls. Vriitya Aravind smashed 49 runs with the help of three boundaries, as he faced 84 balls, and Rameez Shahzad made 38 runs after facing 51 balls. He hit 5 fours. Green Shirts will compete with hosts Hong Kong, arch-rival India A, and Nepal in their Group fixtures of the T20 women’s cricket tournament. Pakistan will play their first match against Nepal. Anoosha Nasir eagers to do well in ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup
Sports Bulletin ReportKARACHI:-Rising cricket girl, Anoosha Nasir, 17, is looking eager to do well in the upcoming ACC Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup, which will get underway in Hong Kong at the end of this month, as her recent achievements in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa have gathered attention and established her as a promising talent in the sport.Anoosha, a 17-year-old cricketer has proved her abilities on the international stage with her impressive tally of 10 wickets from five matches. Now, she is ready to produce a notable performance in the regional cricket fixture of Asian women, as her presence in the team adds depth and diversity to Pakistan's lineup.Karachi-based Anoosha started her cricketing career in the Under-18 T20 Women’s Cricket Championship 2019-20, which was taken place in Lahore. Playing for Northern Renegades, Anoosha finished at the top spot in the bowling charts with six wickets from four wickets and led her side to the final of the tournament.While representing PCB Challengers in the Pakistan Cup Women’s One-Day Cup 2021-22 held in Karachi from 9 to 21 September 2021, Anoosha Nasir claimed 14 wickets from 7 matches that was also included one five-wicket haul. This was the only five-fer in the tournament and she finished on second place in the bowling charts.In order to choose the squad for the first-ever ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup, the PCB arranged a Women's U19 T20 Tournament in August 2022. The tournament, involving six teams, took place from August 13 to 22 in Muridke and Sheikhupura. Anoosha, playing for the Sindh Women U19 team as a right-handed batter, scored 65 runs from three innings. Her impressive performance included eight boundaries, and she also took three wickets.Three months later, Anoosha represented PCB Challengers in phase two of the T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament, where she took five wickets from three outings. She registered her best figures of four for 24 in the match against Dynamites on 6 December at the LCCA Ground.Anoosha then turned out for Strikers in the T20 phase of the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament 2022-23, where she bagged five wickets from two outings in the first phase held in Karachi.Anoosha Nasir said in an interview:“My family has been a great support to me, specially my father who stays with me whenever I am practicing. This gives me a lot of encouragement to play this game and perform. “I had this feeling inside me from the beginning that I have to play cricket, but it was Sana Mir who inspired me to take this game.”“I have been bowling to the senior players, played with them, so it’s always felt good playing with them.” ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 was a dream for me to become the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the mega event. I just tried to give my best and eventually it happened.”

Sri Lankan Cricketer Dushmantha Chameera misses icing on the cake
BIPIN DANISince January 2013, only one pace bowler has taken a 5-wicket haul for Sri Lanka in One Day Internationals at home. Lasith Malinga took 5 for 44 against England at Dambulla in 2018. The 31-year-old right-arm fast pacer Chameera came close to it but ended with four wickets. "Yes, it (the five wickets) would have been icing on the cake had there not been missed chances in his bowling", the bowler's brother Kusal Shanuka, who watched the match on TV from Latvia, where he is doing his masters. There were at least 2-3 chances missed in his bowling. But the family is happy with his performance in the 3rd and the final winning ODI on Wednesday."I am incredibly proud and overjoyed about my brother's performance. After undergoing ankle surgery and being out of cricket for more than 8 months, he worked tirelessly to make a comeback. It was a challenging period for him, but in his first series following the surgery, he showcased his true capabilities. I wholeheartedly wish him a brilliant career ahead", he said.Chameera has won the Player of the Match awards in the past but it was the first time he won the Player of the Match and the Player of the series in the same series. Incidentally, his performance and grabbing the two trophies on Wednesday was also witnessed at the ground by his wife Sulochana. "I'm super proud of him for his awesome comeback after the surgery last October. all his commitments and sacrifices deserve this. I wish he could continue this in upcoming qualifying matches and WC as well", she exclusively said from Hambantota. Chameera has two sons. The 2-year-old Neyul Dhanulya travelled with his parents, while Tehas Minulya (6month old) stayed with his gran-father Ajith. The home team dispersed from the ground after winning the match and the series. The visiting Afghanistan team is scheduled to leave for Bangladesh on Friday.

Devender Kumar voice represents India in Sri Lanka-Afghanistan series

One of the five Television commentators is India's renowned Devender Kumar.There have been no visiting commentators from Afghanistan but Devender Kumar has insights of all Afghan players.  Speaking exclusively over his telephone from Hambantota, he says, "I have been commentating on Afghanistan International matches since 2017. I have been to Kabul numerous times. I have been covering their Shpageeza cricket league over the years from Kabul Afghanistan. Some unknown International Commentator recommended my name to Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in the year 2017 in Sharjah for the Afghanistan vs Ireland series in 2017 when Mujeeb-ur-Rahman made his debut. Since then I have been regularly commentating on their matches".Devender Kumar has witnessed a near-death experience in the game in Afghanistan. "In 2017, I witnessed a blast near the stadium. It was a harrowing moment for all of us. I realised that a blast had occurred barely 10 yards away from where I was standing". Despite the nightmarish turn of events, Devender decided not to curtail his visit and stayed back till the tournament was over."I am fascinated by the charm of the Afghanistan cricket story.. the struggle involved in.. and how much cricket means to Afghan people". Devender is a full-time cricket and multiple sports commentator. He commentates on Horse Polo, Tennis, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, volleyball, Badminton, Handball, football, Karate, and many other sports as well. With Cricket and Horse Polo being his top priority. He has done around 80 International Cricket matches including Test matches as well. Cricket News: PCB invites 13 spinners, 11 pacers for special camps

Alos, 14 batters will be involved in the two camps.
