Gul & Country Club Open Championships: Finals on December 31
Islamabad (PR): The semifinals of the Gul& Country Club Open Tennis Championships were held at the Gun Club courts in Islamabad, paving the way for a thrilling final on December 31, 2024.In the men's singles event, Roman Noori and Adil Farooq secured their spots in the final. Noori defeated Khan Jabbran with a convincing 8-4 win, while Farooq dominated Imtiaz Ahmad 8-1.In the ladies' singles, Shiza Sajjid and Lala Rukh emerged victorious, advancing to the final. Sajjid displayed exceptional skill, defeating Nawal Imtiaz 6-0. Lala Rukh edged past her younger sister, Mah Rukh, with a 6-4 win.The Boys U-18 event also saw intense competition, with Mahd Mehmood and Rohan Noori progressing to the final. Noori defeated Ayan Akhtar 8-3, while Mehmood beat Haider Ali 8-3.

Saudi Pro League outlines preparations for 2024/25 winter transfer window
Riyadh (Saudi Arabia): Te Saudi Pro League (SPL) has announced its preparations for the upcoming 2024/25 winter transfer window, which will run from January 1 to January 30, 2025. These preparations highlight the league’s commitment to supporting clubs by facilitating player transfers, improving governance and planning, ensuring player welfare, and enhancing financial sustainability.The SPL held a series of intensive workshops with its member clubs to assess their specific needs and objectives for the winter transfer window. These workshops aim to provide tailored support to clubs, enabling them to continue achieving success on and off the pitch. This includes facilitating transfers between clubs within the league.During the 2024 summer transfer window, clubs utilised 16 of the 36 available slots for foreign players under the age of 21. Thirteen clubs signed at least one U21 foreign player, while five clubs did not make any signings in this category. The remaining slots provide opportunities for further reinforcements during the winter window.Additionally, all 18 clubs reached the maximum allowance of eight foreign players over the age of 21 per squad by the end of the summer transfer window. Consequently, new signings in this category during the winter window will require clubs to terminate contracts, sell players, or deregister squad members. The SPL will work closely with clubs and the Financial Sustainability Committee to ensure compliance with league policies and regulations.Key outcomes from the 2024/25 summer transfer window include:Average player age decrease: The average player age in the league dropped from 27.6 years to 26.2 years, reflecting a focus on younger talent acquisition.Player movements: A total of 115 domestic players were registered, while 132 departed due to end of contracts, sales, or contract terminations. Meanwhile, 101 foreign players joined the league, and 32 foreign players departed due to end of contracts, sales, or contract terminations.The SPL reiterated that it remains dedicated to fostering transparency and collaboration with clubs while continuing to enhance the league’s competitiveness and organizational excellence.As part of its transformation strategy, the SPL aims to position the Saudi Pro League among the world’s leading football leagues. Pakistan WAPDA retain National Women’s Basketball Championship Title
Lahore (PR): Defending champion Pakistan WAPDA retained their title of the National Women’s Basketball Championship after defeating a strong Pakistan Army team 38-33 points in a nerve-jangling encounter here at the Wapda Sports Complex on Monday.Eight teams participated in the five-day championship, including Pakistan Wapda, Army, Lahore ,Karachi, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Hazara, and Bahawalpur Division .The event was organized by the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).The closing ceremony was attended by General Manager Sports/President WAPDA Sports Board, Imdad Ullah Memon, who was the chief guest, alongside Secretary General of the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF), Khalid Bashir, and other dignitaries.Wapda dominated the first half of the final, preventing their opponents from mounting any significant challenge. They took a commanding 12-points lead by halftime, with a score of 27-15.In the second half, Pakistan Army fought hard to close the gap but was unable to overcome Wapda’s lead. The final score was 38-33 in favor of Wapda.Key players for Wapda, Hijab Fatima and Kainat Zafar, played crucial roles in retaining the championship title. Hijab scored 12 points, while Kainat added 10 points. For Pakistan Army, Fajar Fatima was the top scorer with 9 points, followed by Aysha Dilashad and Kashifa Noreen, who both scored 8 points each.In the third-place match, Lahore triumphed over favorites Karachi, securing a dominant 48-23 victory. Lahore led the match by 21 points at halftime, with a score of 33-12. Khadija Mushtaq and Aimen Mehmood led the scoring for Lahore, both contributing 13 points each.The closing ceremony also featured the distribution of prizes, with General Manager Sports/WAPDA Sports Board ,Imdad Ullah Memon, and Secretary General of the Pakistan Basketball Federation, Khalid Bashir, presenting awards and trophies to the players.

Gerry's Diplomatic Football League Season-8 starts in Islamabad
Islamabad (PR): Gerry's Diplomatic Football League Season-8 kicked off with a series of exciting matches in the capital city Islamabad. The Season 8 of the Gerry's Diplomatic Football League is marking a vibrant start with some thrilling matches.A total of 18 teams are competing in the league, divided into two groups, battling through the league stage to secure spots in the knockout rounds. LAHORE (Sports Report): Master Paints/Newage Cables edged past FG/Din Polo 5-4 in the thrilling final to clinch the trophy at the 13th Lahore Open Polo Championship, sponsored by Cheetah, that concluded at the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday.The chief guests on the occasion were Raja Nauman, General Manager Merchandising Servis Retail, and Qudsia Manzoor, Marketing Manager Servis. Other notables present on the occasion were executive committee members of the club, including Naseer Ahmed, Raja Amir, Saqib Khan Khakwani, and a large number of spectators and families.The main final match was fiercely contested, with Master Paints/Newage Cables securing victory in the final moments with a fabulous field goal by Bilal Haye that helped his side win the thrilling final by 5-4. Gun & Country Club Open Tennis Championship starts in Capital City Islamabad

Hussain Mahmood has been appointed as the Referee, while Nauman Afzal will serve as the Tournament Director.Tariq Murtaza, Chairman of the Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA) praised the efforts of the Gun Club and expressed his optimism for the tournament's success. Wapda and Army to fight for National Women’s Basketball C´ship Title
Lahore (PR): Defending champion Pakistan Wapda will face Pakistan Army in the final of the ongoing National Women’s Basketball Championship in the decisive encounter will take place on Monday at the WAPDA Sports Complex Lahore, organized by the Pakistan Basketball Federation (PBBF).Wapda, who remain unbeaten throughout the championship, dominated Lahore in the first semifinal, winning 65-33. Wapda’s star player, Hijab Fatima, led the team with 24 points, while Kainat Zafar added 13 points. Aiman Mehmood scored 13 points for Lahore. The semifinal was officiated by referees Umer Mehmood, Gul Jamal, and Prem Shahzad.In the second semifinal, Pakistan Army triumphed over Karachi with a commanding 59-19 victory, securing their spot in the final. Wearing red shirts, the Army girls were simply too strong for Karachi, who had performed well in the tournament but couldn't upset the Army’s dominant play. Ayesha Dilshad was the standout player for Pakistan Army, scoring 20 points, while Zobia Shehnaz contributed 10 points. Referees for the second semifinal were Yasir Ghafoor, Adeel Raza, and M. Islamabad (SBR): The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced on Sunday that the main-round of the 10th Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships 2024 will start on December 31, here at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex.According to an official of the PTF, this prestigious tournament is being organized annually to honour the memory of the late Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan, mother of PTF Patron Senator Salim Saifullah Khan.A large number of players, including Pakistan's top-ranked athletes such as Aqeel Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza, Mohammad Abid, Barkatullah, Shahzad Khan, Yousaf Khalil, Heera Ashiq, Meheq Khokhar, Amna Ali Qayum, Sheeza Sajid, and Soha Ali, are competing in this mega event.More than 200 entries from all over Pakistan have been received for competitions in six different categories including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Singles, Boys’ 18 & Under Singles, Boys’ 14 & Under Singles, Boys’ 12 & Under Singles. In U-15 singles Abdul Haseeb of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the championships. Centurion (South Africa): South Africa were 82 for three in reply to Pakistan’s 211 all out as 13 wickets fell on the opening day of the first Test match at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.After being put into bat, the tourists on the back of half-century by Kamran Ghulam managed to score 211 all out in 57.3 overs. Kamran, the right-hand batter from Upper Dir, playing his third Test, scored a 71-ball 54, which included eight fours and a six. This was Kamran’s maiden Test half-century, after he had scored his maiden ton, in his first Test innings against England at home.Kamran knitted an 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket with white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan (27, 62b, 2x4s).
