CAS Squash: Eight men and eight women get bye in the first round

ISLAMABAD (October 11, 2021):-Each 8 men and women got a bye in the opening round of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 that kicked off here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday. It is pertinent to mention that the Men's event carries the prize money of US$30000 while women’s fixture has US$ 12,000 prize money.
In the first round of the championship, Ahmed Freed, Farhan Zaman, Farhan Mehboob and Israr Ahmed registered victories after beating their respective opponents at Mushaf Squash Complex and jumped into the next round, which will be played on Tuesday at the same venue. Farhan Mehboob and Ahmed Freed defeated their challengers in straight games while other two local winners won the matches 3-1.
The championship is being played under the supervision of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) in collaboration with Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Serena Hotels and Combaxx Sports.

14 overseas men and 8 women to participate in CAS Squash championship

ISLAMABAD (October 8, 2021):-As many as 14 male and 8 female foreigners players will take part in the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Serena Hotel-Combaxx International Squash Championship 2021, which will be kicked off from October 11 here at Mushaf Squash Complex, Secretary Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Armaghan Aziz informed reporters in a press conference at a local hotel on Friday.
He further said that the men's event would be pursuing prize money of $30000 while women’s 12000, as Pakistan number one and world number 45 Tayyab Aslam would be top seed player of the international squash showpiece. “All arrangements have been given final touches including security and the final will be played on October 15, 2021 at the same venue, “he added.
“Besides hosts Pakistan, world ranking men and women players from Austria, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Russia, Serbia and Switzerland will take part in the prestigious squash event. This international fixture will be a nice omen for Pakistan squash, which will also open the doors for more international events at the soil of Pakistan, “he further added.
Responding to a question, Secretary PSF said that the federation awarded two wild card entries to upcoming players Under-19 Noor Zaman and hamza Shraif. “Ten Pakistani players are in the main draw, as the main draw has 24 players according to rules of Professionals Squash Association (PSA) and $30,000 will be disbursed among the all 24 players according to their performance, “Armaghan said.
While divulging the details of Women’s fixture, he said that Nadia Pfister form Switzerland would be top seed player of the tournament. “As many as 15 local girls are in the main draw while Pakistani top squash girl Noor ul Huda is 8th seed player of the international squash event, “he replied another question, as he was facing a volley of questions regarding the poor performance of the squash federation.
“Serena Hotels and Combaxx Sports have very kindly joined hands with PSF and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for the national cause of promoting squash in the country. We heartily appreciate the Sports Diplomacy initiative as shared by Serena Hotel as their integral part to build stronger relations with communities. Pakistan has a tradition of excellence in many sports but competitive sports require the support of organizations through sponsorships and promotion, “he concluded.
Air Chief Zaheer becomes president PSF

Islamabad (September 3, 2021):-Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall, Zaheer Ahmed Baber has been elected the president of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) in the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of federation that held at Air Headquarters, Islamabad on Friday.
The General Council elected the head of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber as president of the squash federation, who later on, presided over the meeting. Besides squash legends, representatives from provincial squash associations, affiliated members and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) attended the proceeding of house.
Addressing the general council members, President PSF thanked participants for imposing their full confidence to him. While showing his satisfaction over revival of international squash in the country, President PSF emphasized that there was still a need of collective efforts by the provincial squash associations and affiliated departments like Pakistan Army, Navy, Wapda, SNGPL, PIA, etc to jointly work together and support the national cause of glorifying Pakistan squash at highest levels. He urged the players to focus on the game and further improve on the physical and mental strength.
Besides assuring support by PAF, the President PSF asked all member associations to generate further resources to meet the challenging tasks through an improved system. President PSF directed the member associations to promote squash and increase the pool of players to thousands and also ensure age verification at association level.
Zaheer Ahmed further stressed upon the implementation of a comprehensive training strategy to further groom the skills of our players. He also emphasized on the role of associations and departments in generating adequate funds from provincial governments and corporate sector to sponsor their players and events. He also directed all associations and affiliated departments to conduct maximum number of tournaments events every year.
The performance evaluation of provincial association for the year 2020 was also carried out by the General Council. The KP Squash Association was awarded Winner’s Trophy for Pride of Performance by the General Council. President PSF presented trophy to the Rep of provincial association and appreciated them for making their efforts despite the pandemic situation.
While he emphasized that PSF would continue to sponsor best men and women players in international events, he also directed the associations to generate adequate funds and sponsor for all their respective players for national and international events to afford them adequate exposure.
On this occasion, he advised associations to conduct the open trials of all age categories and conduct league matches to generate healthy competition among players. Squash is an individual game therefore, President PSF also urged the players to ensure their fitness to prove their worth in squash court by winning in every tournament at every level to glorify Pakistan in the game of Squash.
The meeting concluded with the hope that federal and provincial governments would provide adequate financial and administrative support to revive Pakistan’s power in the international arena of Squash.

Islamabad (August 31, 2021):-Top seed Tayyab Aslam has clinched the title of PSF-Combaxx Sports Squash Championship after beating Nasir Iqbal 3-2 in the final at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad on Tuesday. The final score-line was 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5 and 11-4, as both top national players encounter each other for 49 minutes in the court.
At the end, Air Marshal Aamir Masood Senior Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and prizes to the finalists. CEO Combaxx Sports Omer Saeed was also present on this occasion.

Islamabad (August 30, 2021):-Top seed Tayyab Aslam and Nasir Iqbal reached into the final of PSF-Combaxx Sports Squash Championship after beating Hamza Shraif and Israr Ahmed respectively in the semifinals at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad on Monday. Final will be played on Tuesday at same venue.
In the 1st semifinal, World No 44 Tayyab Aslam (Pak) overcame World No 394 Hamza Sharif (Pak) with a game score of 11-5, 11-5 and 11-2. The match lasted for 21 minutes. Meanwhile, in the 2nd semifinal, World No 102 Nasir Iqbal (Pak) defeated World No 124 Israr Ahmad (Pak). The final score-line was 11-3,9-11,1-11,11-3 and 11-6. The match lasted for 48 minutes.

Tayyab places top seed in PSF International Squash Tournament

Islamabad (August 25, 2021):-The World No. 44 and Pakistan No. 1 squash player, Tayyab Aslam will be top seed in the forthcoming PSF-Combaxx International Squash Tournament that will be commenced from August 27, 2021 at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad.
According to a spokesman for Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF), the event is going be stage in collaboration with Combaxx Sports 27 – 31 August, 2021. The tournament carries a prize purse of US$ 12,000 that will be disbursed among top 32 players from Pakistan, Canada and Sweden according to Professionals Squash Association (PSA) rules. World No 44 Tayyab Aslam is seeded No 1 along with World No 68 Asim Khan as seeded No 2.
Squash: Noor Zaman defeats Ashab Irfan 3-1 in final

ISLAMABAD:-Top seed Noor Zaman defeated Mohammad Ashab Irfan 3-1 in the final of PSA Satellite Tournament on Thursday here at Mushaf Squash Complex, as the fixture had prize money of US$ 1,000. The final score-line was 11-6, 3-11, 11-5 and 11-5.
It was the second title for Noor Zaman in the series of four PSA Satellite tournaments that were held under the banner of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) aiming to provide an occasion to national lads to improve their international ranking after gaining some vital points.
In the final Noor Zaman showed his top game and did not allow his opponent to settle his feet on the court. Noor displayed excellent skills of squash after hitting powerful strokes and playing some classic drop shorts. The final was a thrilling contest which was won by Noor Zaman.
Senior Vice President, PSF Air Marshal Aamir Masood graced the final as chief guest and presented trophies to the players. Squash legend and Vice President of Pakistan Squash Federation Qamar Zaman was also present at this occasion.
Earlier, in the morning session, in the first semifinal, Noor Zaman got rid of Haris Qasim 3-2 after a well contested five game match. The score-line was 10-12, 12-10, 10-12, 11-5, 11-6, as the match lasted 43 minutes. Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, Mohammad Ashab Irfan ousted Mohammad Hamza Khan in straight games 3-0, as the game score was 11-8, 11-7, 11-4 in just 23 minutes.
