CAS Squash Championship concludes with Egyptian victories
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 15, 2021):-World No 67 Moustafa El Sirty (Egypt) toppled World No 59 Auguste Dussourd (France) in the Men’s final to lift the title of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on Friday. The final score-line was 9-11, 11-7, 11-6 and 12-10. Egyptian girl World No. 81 Salma El Tayab defeated World No 69 Marie Stephan from France 3-0 in the women's final at the same venue. The third seeded player Auguste Dussourd, who had overcome top seed Tayyab Aslam 3-2 in the first semifinal a day back, started the first game of the championship title match with full confidence earned lead 4-1, as game went neck-to-neck as it was leveled at 5-5, 7-7, 8-8 and 9-9. However, the French guy finished the game at 11-9 to make the match score 1-0. In the second game, both lads displayed a beautiful game by hitting powerful strokes and classic drops and nicks. Game was leveled at 1-1, 3-3, 6-6 and 7-7, at this stage Moustafa grabbed some quick points to end the game at 11-7, as she maintained the same momentum in the third game too and did not allow his opponent to get upper hand at any stage of the game. Moustafa finished the game at 11-6. The 4th game was a thrilling one, Auguste made the score 4-0 by playing a quality squash and Mostafa bounced back in the game by squaring the game at 8-8 and then the score was equal at 10-10. The Egyptian guy won the game at 12-10 and became the champion of CAS Squash International Championship 2021. It is important to mention here that Auguste was not satisfied with the countless decisions of the referee and he was looking up-set but an official of Pakistan Squash Federation did not allow some media to talk with the loser of the final. At the end, Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal, Zaheer Ahmed distributed the prizes among the players. The winner pocketed US$4241 while runner-up US$2679.

CAS Squash Championship: Auguste and Moustafa set to meet in final
Abdullah Asjad ISLAMABAD (October 14, 2021):-World No 59 Auguste Dussourd (France) set to meet World No 67 Moustafa El Sirty (Egypt) in the Men’s final of Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021, as both players won their semifinals at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on Thursday. The final will be played on Friday at same venue. In the Men’s Event, 1st semifinal World No 59 Auguste Dussourd (France) beat World No 45 Tayyab Aslam (PAK) with a game score of 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 3-11 and 11-4 in 60 minutes. Later on, in the 2nd semifinal World No 67 Moustafa El Sirty from Egypt thrashed World No 71 Henry Leung from Hong Kong at 8-11, 11-7, 11-7 and 11-5 in 41 minutes. In, Women’s Event, 1st semifinal, World No 81 Salma El Tayab from Egypt beat World No 102 Fayrouz Aboelkheir (EGY) with a game score of 11-7, 7-11, 11-6 and 12-10.  The match lasted for 33 minutes.  In the 2nd semifinal, World No 69 Marie Stephan from France beat World No 149 Nadeen Kotb from Egypt by 11-7, 6-11, 11-9, 11-9 in 31 minutes.

Dreams scatter: Auguste downs top seed Tayyab 3-2
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 13, 2021):-The third seeded player of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 downed top seed Tayyab Aslam 3-2 in the first semifinal and scattered the dreams of Tayyab Aslam and top officials of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) as well at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on Thursday. The final score-line was 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 3-11 and 11-4. World No. 59 French guy Auguste started the match with full confidence and claimed the first two games quite easily by conceding 9 and 7 points respectively in the first and second game. Local guy Tayyab, who had defeated Twan Lau of Hong Kong 3-1 after losing the first game at the same venue, could not make the finish in style. Although he played excellent squash in 3rd and 4th game to level the match, he was looking a bit upset in the vital game in which he could earn only four points. Auguste was looking cool and tactics were good to keep control on the final game with powerful strokes and classic drop shorts. He, who had confronted the same situation in the quarterfinal against Farhan Zaman in a five game affair, showed his power and aggression in the 5th game to reach in the final of a high ranking international squash showpiece that was pursuing prize money of US$30000.

Auguste vows to deliver peace message of Pakistan all over the world
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL Islamabad (October 13, 2021):-There is no security question for players in Pakistan, as I am enjoying the game of squash in the capital city Islamabad without any fear and horror. I will deliver the peace message of Pakistan to all top ranking international players and ask them to visit Pakistan to compete in the high profile international squash tournaments in future; this was viewed by World No. 59 squash player from France Auguste Dussourd, who is here to participate in the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 that is underway at Mushaf Squash Complex in the premises of Pakistan Sports Complex. While talking to international sports website www.sports-bulletin.com Auguste further said that it was his third tour to Pakistan to take part in the squash events. “This is my third trip to Pakistan and I have never confronted any problem or trouble. During the ongoing CAS championship the organizers have provided all the crunch facilities. Very excellent environment for squash, hoteling is brilliant and very wonderful food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We can move everywhere and live comfortably, “he maintained. To a question, Auguste Dussourd said that it was an honour for him to play a squash tournament at the soil of great squash players Jehangir Khan and Jansher Khan. “All squash players admired both Pakistani heroes and they made countless marks in the history of squash. They were super players of their times, they won all the giant titles of squash including World Championships, British Open and many other topmost ranking squash tournaments. I am proud to play squash in the country of the great squash icons, “he added. A question regarding the ongoing squash championship, the Frenchman said, “All matches were tough and I had to work hard on the court to overcome the opponents, as Farhan Zaman was a big hurdle for me and he gave me a very harsh time because I was not aware of his game. I took the start carefully and whenever I got any chance I played attacking squash too. I am physically fit and will play a positive game and perform up to mark in the rest of matches, “international squash player Auguste Dussourd concluded.

CAS Squash Championship: Tayyab overcomes Twan Lau 3-1
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 13, 2021):-Top seed, Tayyab Aslam defeated foreigner guy from Hong Kong Tsz Kwan Lau 3-1 in the first quarterfinal to secure the berth in the top-4 stage of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad on Wednesday. The final score-line was 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-8, as the match wasted 42 minutes. In the first game, Kwan Lau started the game with confidence in the state of art four-glass-wall court and earned the lead 3-0 and showed his determination but local boy Tayyab recovered the deficit very soon and level the game 3-3. Tayyab maintained his control on the game and made the score 10-5 and it seemed that he would finish the game easily. Then Kwan Lau came from behind by playing some powerful storks and leveled the score 10-10, as he ended at 12-10 and got a vital lead 1-0 in the crucial match. Meanwhile, in the second game, the top seed was looking entirely different in the second game after receiving some tips from his coach during a two minutes break, as he was ahead 7-1. Twan Lau showed some aggression and got three back-to-back points, as the game score went up to 7-4. At this stage Tayyab played nice class drop shots and powerful forehands drives to make the score 10-8, as he won the game at 11-9 to square the match 1-1. Tayyab played the third game with the same pace after equalizing the match 1-1, as he earned early points but in the middle of game both players were amusing the handful of spectators by their quality of game, as the scoreboard was moving quickly. Tayyab made the lead 2-1, as his opponent hit on the tin four times. The game score was 11-6. In the fourth game went neck-to-neck, as it was leveled at 3-3 and 7-7, on this stage, Pakistan number one player got three vital points in a row and reached at match point 10-7. Tayyab Aslam finished the game in style and claimed an important victory in the international squash showpiece that carried prize money of US$30000. He showed the exit to overseas challenger Twan Lau at 10-9 after a 42 minutes game. In his post- match comments, Tayyab Aslam said that he was happy with this win. “After losing my first game my coach advised me to keep the opponent player ahead, as he was playing good strokes from behind the middle line. So I entered the court with determination to overcome him. I will not repeat mistakes, which I had made in the first game, “said out of breathed Tayyab. CAS International Squash Championship 2021 is being played under the banner of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) in collaboration with Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Serena Hotels and Combaxx Sports. CAS Squash Championship: Top seed Tayyab and Farhan reach in quarterfinals
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 12, 2021):-Duo of local guys, top seed Tayyab Aslam and Farhan Zaman moved into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 after beating compatriot challengers Ahmed Freed and Mohammad Asim Khan respectively in the 2nd round at Mushaf Squash Complex Islamabad Tuesday. In the first contest of the Men’s Fixture, World No. 45 Tayyab Aslam toiled hard in the court to overcome Ahmed Freed 3-2 in a thrilling 74 minutes game. Tayyab was crawling behind Ahmed after two games at 8-11 and 5-11. Pakistan number one lad reshuffled his feather and entered into the court with determination and clinched the next two games at 11-2 and 11-7 to level the match 2-2. However, no one was ready to kneel in the fifth and decisive game, which Tayyab finished at 11-9. The final score-line was 8-11, 5-11, 11-2, 11-7 and 11-9. Farhan Zaman ousted Mohammad Asim Khan 3-2 in the third match of the day at Mushaf Squash Complex. Both players showed excellent skills of squash by hitting powerful forehand and backhand drives with some classic drop shots. Unfortunately, Asim hit the ball unexpectedly down during the penultimate game, as he was ahead 2-1 in the match on that occasion, as he threw the game to provide a chance to opponent Farhan Zaman to come back in the match. At the end Farhan Zaman finished the match with the score-line of 11-8, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8 and 11-2, as the match wasted 50 minutes. CAS Squash: Eight men and eight women get bye in the first round
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (October 11, 2021):-Each 8 men and women got a bye in the opening round of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) International Squash Championship 2021 that kicked off here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday. It is pertinent to mention that the Men's event carries the prize money of US$30000 while women’s fixture has US$ 12,000 prize money. In the first round of the championship, Ahmed Freed, Farhan Zaman, Farhan Mehboob and Israr Ahmed registered victories after beating their respective opponents at Mushaf Squash Complex and jumped into the next round, which will be played on Tuesday at the same venue. Farhan Mehboob and Ahmed Freed defeated their challengers in straight games while other two local winners won the matches 3-1.   The championship is being played under the supervision of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) in collaboration with Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Serena Hotels and Combaxx Sports. 14 overseas men and 8 women to participate in CAS Squash championship
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (October 8, 2021):-As many as 14 male and 8 female foreigners players will take part in the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Serena Hotel-Combaxx International Squash Championship 2021, which will be kicked off from October 11 here at Mushaf Squash Complex, Secretary Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Armaghan Aziz informed reporters in a press conference at a local hotel on Friday. He further said that the men's event would be pursuing prize money of $30000 while women’s 12000, as Pakistan number one and world number 45 Tayyab Aslam would be top seed player of the international squash showpiece. “All arrangements have been given final touches including security and the final will be played on October 15, 2021 at the same venue, “he added. “Besides hosts Pakistan, world ranking men and women players from Austria, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Russia, Serbia and Switzerland will take part in the prestigious squash event. This international fixture will be a nice omen for Pakistan squash, which will also open the doors for more international events at the soil of Pakistan, “he further added. Responding to a question, Secretary PSF said that the federation awarded two wild card entries to upcoming players Under-19 Noor Zaman and hamza Shraif. “Ten Pakistani players are in the main draw, as the main draw has 24 players according to rules of Professionals Squash Association (PSA) and $30,000 will be disbursed among the all 24 players according to their performance, “Armaghan said. While divulging the details of Women’s fixture, he said that Nadia Pfister form Switzerland would be top seed player of the tournament. “As many as 15 local girls are in the main draw while Pakistani top squash girl Noor ul Huda is 8th seed player of the international squash event, “he replied another question, as he was facing a volley of questions regarding the poor performance of the squash federation. “Serena Hotels and Combaxx Sports have very kindly joined hands with PSF and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for the national cause of promoting squash in the country. We heartily appreciate the Sports Diplomacy initiative as shared by Serena Hotel as their integral part to build stronger relations with communities. Pakistan has a tradition of excellence in many sports but competitive sports require the support of organizations through sponsorships and promotion, “he concluded.

Air Chief Zaheer becomes president PSF
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL Islamabad (September 3, 2021):-Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshall, Zaheer Ahmed Baber has been elected the president of Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) in the 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of federation that held at Air Headquarters, Islamabad on Friday. The General Council elected the head of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber as president of the squash federation, who later on, presided over the meeting. Besides squash legends, representatives from provincial squash associations, affiliated members and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) attended the proceeding of house. Addressing the general council members, President PSF thanked participants for imposing their full confidence to him. While showing his satisfaction over revival of international squash in the country, President PSF emphasized that there was still a need of collective efforts by the provincial squash associations and affiliated departments like Pakistan Army, Navy, Wapda, SNGPL, PIA, etc to jointly work together and support the national cause of glorifying Pakistan squash at highest levels. He urged the players to focus on the game and further improve on the physical and mental strength. Besides assuring support by PAF, the President PSF asked all member associations to generate further resources to meet the challenging tasks through an improved system. President PSF directed the member associations to promote squash and increase the pool of players to thousands and also ensure age verification at association level.  Zaheer Ahmed further stressed upon the implementation of a comprehensive training strategy to further groom the skills of our players. He also emphasized on the role of associations and departments in generating adequate funds from provincial governments and corporate sector to sponsor their players and events. He also directed all associations and affiliated departments to conduct maximum number of tournaments events every year. The performance evaluation of provincial association for the year 2020 was also carried out by the General Council. The KP Squash Association was awarded Winner’s Trophy for Pride of Performance by the General Council.  President PSF presented trophy to the Rep of provincial association and appreciated them for making their efforts despite the pandemic situation. While he emphasized that PSF would continue to sponsor best men and women players in international events, he also directed the associations to generate adequate funds and sponsor for all their respective players for national and international events to afford them adequate exposure. On this occasion, he advised associations to conduct the open trials of all age categories and conduct league matches to generate healthy competition among players. Squash is an individual game therefore, President PSF also urged the players to ensure their fitness to prove their worth in squash court by winning in every tournament at every level to glorify Pakistan in the game of Squash. The meeting concluded with the hope that federal and provincial governments would provide adequate financial and administrative support to revive Pakistan’s power in the international arena of Squash.

Tayyab clinches International squash title
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL Islamabad (August 31, 2021):-Top seed Tayyab Aslam has clinched the title of PSF-Combaxx Sports Squash Championship after beating Nasir Iqbal 3-2 in the final at Mushaf Squash Complex, Islamabad on Tuesday. The final score-line was 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5 and 11-4, as both top national players encounter each other for 49 minutes in the court. At the end, Air Marshal Aamir Masood Senior Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed trophies and prizes to the finalists. CEO Combaxx Sports Omer Saeed was also present on this occasion.
