Online Poomsae Championship 2020 Kicks off
Staff Report ISLAMABAD (May 15, 2020):-In present scenario of COVID-19 it can be called a huge success of involving athletes and coaches of Taekwondo (Olympic Martial Arts) in Pakistan during these tough conditions. Foreign based Pakistani coaches and their athletes are also participating in this first ever Online Championship. Other than foreign based Pakistani athletes, players belonging to other nationalities like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, USA, Jordan, Russia, India, Philippine, Kazakhstan, Sudan and Nepal are also featuring in this prestigious event. The event will also set a new trend for the other sports of the country as well to innovate new ideas to engage in sports during these tough times.  An official said, “Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) is trying her level best to promote Taekwondo Olympic Martial Art Sports and give maximum exposure to youth at National and International Level. Federation is also grateful to support from her co-sponsors AAA and main sponsor Hankook. Besides this Federation has full support of President Pakistan Olympic Association who has fully supported the idea during their previous online meeting with the different stakeholders of the NSF, and also urged other MNAs to follow. The Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) have also been informed regarding this championship and final results will be sent accordingly, “he added.
Online Taekwondo training
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (April 6, 2020):-A spokesman for Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) said on Monday that the world was going through a very difficult time because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the rapid spread of this virus in Pakistan which also hit the sports activities. “At a time like this, there is need that we should work together to overcome this difficult situation as well as to connect the sports activities. In this regard Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and concerned International Sports Organization have already instructed to all NSFs to provide online training and competitions facilities to their officials and athletes to fight against COVID-19 through physical training, “he said in a statement. “Now, PTF has start on line training and competition of individual Khyrougi and Poomsae through Korean Expert Coach in coordination with his Pakistani Assistant Coach to make the Coaches and Athletes fit and perfect. This will also very helpful for said coaches and athletes to improve their skills and stamina to fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19), “the spokesman concluded.
Taekwondo players honoured
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (December 27, 2019):-Lt Gen Javed Iqbal, HI (M), (Retd), Patron, Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) staged a prize distribution ceremony in the honour of medal winner of 13th South Asian Games 2019 at Kathmandu, Nepal on Thursday night at a local hotel Islamabad.  The Patron has stressed upon the value of discipline, comradeship and ultimately bringing a good name to the country. He also appreciated all the management of PTF, coaching staff as he is eyeing on all the activities of the federation not only in Pakistan but also in International competitions for last two years. He congratulated the medal winners and showed his satisfaction what they have achieved in South Asian Games particularly in Taekwondo event. “Next year 2020 is the year of qualification round to qualify in to Olympics Tokyo, however the coaching staff and the athletes have to more work hard to achieve this milestone which is not impossible,” he said while adding “I will keep on supporting the deserving athletes in future as well, “he said. At the end, he again congratulated to all the medal winners and hoped that in Olympic Martial Art the new generation would take Taekwondo in to new heights. “My best wishes and sincere prayers are with you, “he concluded.  At this occasion, the President PTF Col Waseem Ahmed thanked the valuable comments by the patron and gracious contribution by honoring the athletes and coaches in terms of cash prizes.
Pakistan likely to host two international taekwondo events in 2020
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (December 24, 2019):-President, South Asian Taekwondo Association (SATA) Umer Saeed revealed that Pakistan would host two mega taekwondo events next year in 2020. He was talking to sports journalists in a briefing at Media Centre of Pakistan Sports Complex (PSC) along with president Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) Col Waseem Ahmed Janjua and secretary, SATA Murtaza Hasan Bangash on Tuesday. Umer Saeed Further disclosed that during the 13th South Asian Game, which were taken place in Kathmandu, Nepal from December 1, to 10, 2019, he was elected president SATA for the term of next two years unanimously. “All representatives of member countries including India supported me for this slot. There will be good working relationship between all countries for the promotion of taekwondo in the region, “he hoped. Responding to a question he said that two events including Pakistan Open Taekwondo Championship and South Asian Taekwondo Championship would be taken place back-to-back in the last quarter of 2020. “We are expecting a large number of players across the world will participate in the international taekwondo fixture. India ensured us that they will take part in the South Asian Taekwondo Championship 2020, “he asserted. On this occasion, president PTF congratulated Umer Saeed for getting the blue ribbon of SATA president-ship. Waseem indulged reporters that Pakistan participated in 17 international events during the 2019 and national athletes brought laurels for the country. “Government provided only Rs 2.5 million special grant for one event. We demand only infrastructure of the game from government, “he concluded.     
Army athletes win National Taekwondo Championship 2019
  By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (December 23, 2019):-Pakistan Army athletes have won the Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship 2019 that concluded on Monday at Aamir Boxing Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex. Army grabbed 16 gold medals, WAPDA claimed second position with three gold medals while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) spotted at third position with two gold medals. Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) with the support of Omar Associate, AF Powertek Engineering FZC, Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Ltd, NLC and Korean Embassy, organized the 14th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship from 19 to 23 Dec 2019 at Amir Khan Boxing Hall. Teams from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtoonkawa (KPK), Army, WAPDA, PAF, Navy, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Islamabad participated in top national taekwondo showpiece. Shahzaib from Pakistan Air Force was declared best athlete of the event and also awarded Rs.50,000 cash award. Shamim Akhtar, President PTF Women Wing has also awarded Rs.20,000 to Haroon and Shahzaib on their outstanding performance. Kwak Sung-Kyu, Ambassador Republic of Korea Islamabad graced the closing ceremony as chief guest. Lt Col Raja Waseem Ahmed, President PTF, Omar Saeed, Vice President PTF, Shamim Akhtar, President Women Wing PTF, Murtaza Hassan Bangash, Secretary PTF were also present during this ceremony. Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship kicks off at PSC
By Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (December 19, 2019):-The 14th Korean Ambassador National Taekwondo Championship 2019 kicked off from Thursday at Amir Khan Boxing Hall, Pakistan Sports Board, Islamabad. Kwak Sung-Kyu, Ambassador Republic of Korea in Islamabad graced the opening ceremony as chief guest. On this occasion, Akbar Durrani, Secretary for ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) was also present. Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was dominated on the first day of championship, as all three gold medals won by the PAF’s athletes. Two gold won by Tanzeela while one by Shahzad Ali in three different categories competitions. Army grabbed all three silvers while Sindh, WAPDA, Railways and Khyber PakhtoonKawa (KPK) claimed bronzes medals. In the five days national fixture, teams from all four provinces, Departments, Services, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Islamabad will be participating to win the medals. The event is being sponsored by Korean Embassy, Omar Associate, AF Powertek Engineering FZC and Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Ltd.
Four players to participate in International Taekwondo
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD:-As many as six-member contingent including four players and two officials will participate in the “The Belt and Road China Open International Taekwondo Championship” to be held from November 6 to 10, 2019 at Xian, China. According to spokesman for Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), Mohammad Rabnawaz, Jabran Asad Khan, Mohammad Owais and Mohammad Zahid will participate in different categories in the 5-day international fixture. Syed Sadaqat Hussain is head of the team while Mohammad Farooq will be performing the duty of coach.  It is added that it will be good experience and exposure for upcoming South Asian Games which will be held in next month in Nepal. The athletes will also get ranking points which help them to improve their personal ranking.
`PTF hires foreign coach for South Asian Games preparation
Abdullah Asjad ISLAMABAD:-International taekwondo mentor Han Sangsu is arriving here on November 7, 2019 to coach the top Pakistani male and female players. According to an official of Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), the hiring of said coach was made possible due to kind support of Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Taekwondo Federation’s joint efforts. The induction of the said coach will be very beneficial and fruitful for our athletes in upcoming South Asian Games and 2020 Olympic Qualification Round Tournament. The services of said coach will also be utilized by all the affiliated units, departments and associations on required basis. Pakistan Taekwondo Federation is highly obliged for Ministry of IPC, WT Asia, Kukkiwon Headquarters and Korean Embassy in Islamabad. Lt Gen Javed Iqbal (Retd), Patron PTF and Omar Saeed of CE&MD Hankook is also supporting for the promotion and development of Taekwondo in the country for the better results in different International Competitions as they played a very instrumental role in bringing the Korean Coach for Pakistani Officials / Athletes. A pool of Pakistani Coaches will also remain under the supervision of said coach to learn modern skills and techniques from him.
