Pakistan Open Golf Championship starts from January 27, 2022
Sports Bulletin KARACHI (January 26, 2022):-Top national golfer Shabbir Iqbal will defend his title, as the 72 holes 48th Pakistan Open Golf Championship will start from Thursday (January 27) at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) Karachi. Final round will be played on January 30 at the same venue. Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal, who was recently titled leader of Sindh Open Golf 2022, is all set and looks in full form to complete with his challengers. Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club will have benefits of home ground, as he had edged Shabbir in 11th Rashid D Habib Golf and he may be a challenge for him. The most important National Golf Championship, Pakistan Open Golf is all set to tee off on its 48th edition with sponsorship by United Marine Agencies and is one of the most prominent golf events in PGF's calendar.  Tournament Director- Lieutenant Colonel Zahid Iqbal (Retd) welcomed the management for their full cooperation in order to organize the event in a befitting manner. He exclusively thanked Sohail Shams Chief Executive Officer, United Marine Agencies (Pvt) Limited, the Title sponsor of the event who sponsored Rs. 10 million for the championship. He also thanked Cdre Ghazanfar Abbas (Retd), Chief Operating Officer of Karachi Golf Club for their benevolent support in organizing the Pakistan largest event.  Lt. Col Zahid Iqbal said:                                                                                               “Country’s top golfers will compete in the Professionals category for the coveted trophy. The Championship has the highest prize money of Rs. 10 Million. President, Pakistan Golf Federation, Lieutenant General Mian Mohammad Hilal Hussain, Hilal e Imtiaz (Military) (Retired) has also announced return Dubai ticket along with golf rounds as Hole-in-One prize for the first claim.” “Course way and Greens are all in best shapes. Golf fans this year will witness aggressive tee offs, birdies, boggies and thrilling putts as competing players are well prepared and eager to claim their lion’s share from the award money.” Col Zahid added. The Championship will be played over 72 holes of stroke play (18 holes each day) and 151 Professional Golfers along with top ranked Amateurs from all over the country participated in order to contest and claim the title of Pakistan Champion for the year 2021-22. The Championship will be played stroke play under three categories Professionals/ Amateurs (72 Holes), Senior Professionals (54 Holes) & Junior Professionals (54 Holes).

Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal retains the title of Sindh Open Golf Championship
Sports Bulletin KARACHI:-Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal retained the title of Sindh Open Golf Championship 2022 after winning the 23rd edition of top national golf showpiece, as the championship concluded at Airmen Golf Club Karachi on Sunday. Pakistan’s ace Golfer Shabbir Iqbal clinched the title with 208 under par 8 score by maintaining the lead from the first round of the Sindh Open Golf Championship 2022. Mohammad Naeem of PGC remained runner up with 215 one under par and Mohammad Ashfaq of AGC with 216 at par claimed third position. Speaking to media, Shabbir Iqbal who has completed 194 titles, said, “I am thankful to Al-Mighty Allah for winning the Sindh Open Golf 2022. Loosing title at last week’s Rashid D Habib was my bad luck, however now I played carefully. I am well prepared for Pakistan Open, Chief of Air Staff Tournament and DHA Open.” Mohammad Saqib of LGG with seven over par secured first position in Junior Professionals. Second position in this category is jointly shared by Abdul Wadood from MTG and Nabeel Khan of Airmen Golf Club. In the senior professional category Tahir Naseem from GYM stood first with four over par while Mohammad Akram was runner up with eight over par. Salman Jehangir from LG lead Amateurs category with two over par. Yashal Shah and Saim Shazli of KGC secured second and third positions. Omar Khalid of DHA succeeded fourth position with Gross 240 at par. President Sindh Golf Association- Khurram Khan distributed prizes and trophies amongst the leaders of final day. Khurram said, “The strong winds during the last two days did challenged the golfers, however they accepted the challenge. We will continue promoting Golf players in Pakistan.”

Sindh Open Golf 2022: Defending Shabbir Iqbal maintains lead on Day-2
Sports Report KARACHI:-Defending champion Shabbir Iqbal maintained his lead on the second day of the ongoing 23rd Sindh Open Golf Championship with five under par score after playing 36 holes game at green lush course of the Airmen Golf Club Karachi on Saturday. Topper has started the day two with six under par. Mohammad Naeem of PGC, Zubair Hussain of PAF and Wisal Khan of PGC are following Shabbir with joint score of 145 one over par. LGG’s Mohammad Shahzad with his two over par was at 5th while Matloob Ahmed of same club LGG was at sixth with three over par. In the senior professional category Tahir Naseem maintained top position with four over par. Mohammad Akram achieved 2nd position with eight over par. Both represent Lahore Gymkhana. In the Junior Professionals, Mohammad Saqib from LGG has taken top position with seven over par, followed by Abdul Wadood from Multan and Nabeel Khan of Airmen Golf Club. Both have tied for 2nd position. Saim Shazli of KGC was ahead in Amateurs category with Gross 157, 13 over par and being followed by Salman Jahangir of LG with Gross 158, 14 over par. Omar Khalid of DHA held third position with Gross 161, 17 over par.

Sindh Open Golf 2022: Defending Champion Shabbir Iqbal earns lead on the opening day
Sports Bulletin KARACHI:-Defending champion Shabbir Iqbal from Islamabad was ahead at the end of 18 holes game of the 23rd Sindh Open Golf Championship 2022 that teed off on Friday at Airmen Golf Club Karachi. Out of 41 leading national golfers, defending champion Shabbir Iqbal was leading with six under par. Arshad Rasheed of Karachi Golf Club (KGC) along with Mohammad Naeem and Matloob Ahmed were jointly at second spot with two under par. It is pertinent to mention here that Waheed Baloch of Karachi Golf Club who with outstanding performance recently won the 11th Rashid D Habib Golf 2022 is holding 17th position on day one with one over par. In the senior professional category Tahir Naseem was leading with one over par and being followed by Mohammad Akram who achieved 4 over par on day one while in the Junior Professionals, Mohammad Saqib from LGG is leading on first day with four over par, followed by Abdul Wadood who managed to achieve 5 over par on day one. Salman Jehangir of LG is leading in Amateurs category with two over par and being followed by Omar Khalid of DHA at par. Saim Shazli of KGC is holding third position with 81 at par. Tournament Referee and Secretary of Sindh Golf Association Col Zahid Iqbal said, “The strong winds in Karachi challenged the golfers, however experienced golfers proved their expertness.” “Golf Course is at best condition and visibility was helpful for both local and visiting golfers”, Col Iqbal added. The Annual Sindh Open Golf Championship is being played at Airmen Golf club & Recreational Park from 21 - 23 January 2022. The collective prize money offered is Rs. 3 Million for Professionals, Senior Professionals, Junior Professionals category. The final round of the tournament will be played on Sunday (January 23).

Waheed Balouch claims the title of 11th Rashid D Habib Golf 2022 Tournament: Mohammad Shabbir remains second
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD (January 16, 2022):-The local golfer, Waheed Balouch has won the title of the 11th Rashid D Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2022 that concluded at Karachi Golf Club on Sunday. Blouch’s score was 278 under par 10 after completing the 72 holes game, as he received Rs. 713, 115 along with glittering trophy. Defending champion Mohammad Shabbir from capital city Islamabad secured second place and bagged Rs. 453,150 while Mohammad Munir of Rawalpindi was the second runner up and got prize money of Rs. 267,120. Additionally, appearance money of Rs.500,000 was equally distributed among Mohammad Munir, Minhaj Maqsood Warraich, Ahmed Baig, Matloob Ahmed and Mohammad Shabbir. Out of 27 golfers in Senior Professionals category, Mohammad Akram of Lahore Gymkhana was ahead on final day and was paid Rs. 152,483. Asghar Ali and Tahir Nasim of Gymkhana were joint runner ups. They were paid award Rs. 84,710 each. In addition, appearance of money Rs. 150,000 was equally distributed between Mohammad Akram, Irfan Mehmood and Naseer Khan. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the top men. He also appreciated the role of Bank Al Habib in promotion of Golf. Admiral Niazi applauded role of Karachi Golf Club management in maintaining such a beautiful and professional Golf Club in Karachi. Admiral further said, “This year Pakistan Navy will host Asian Tour Golf Championship in Karachi.” Bank Al Habib’s Chairman Abbas D Habib congratulated winners and encouraged participants on the tournament. He said Bank Al Habib’s support to golfers of Pakistan will continue.

Rashid D Habib Golf Tournament: Waheed enhances the lead
Karachi (Sports Report):-Waheed Balouch earned 5 strokes lead with 203 under par 13 score in the third round of Bank Al Habib’s 11th Rashid D Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament 2022 at Karachi golf club. After Friday’s cut, 54 professionals participated in round 3 of Saturday. Waheed Baloch of KGC increased his lead on third day’s leaderboard and carded 203-13 under par. Defending champion Mohammad Shabbir succeeded to second place while sharing 208-8 under par along with Hamza Amin. Ansar Mehmood is at 4th position with 210-6 under par. Out of 27 golfers in Senior Professionals category, Mohammad Akram of Gymkhana club leads on first day with 69-3 under par. He is followed by Asghar Ali of Gymkhana with 71-1 under par. After Round-1, 17 golfers have qualified in this category to play in Round-2 on Sunday. Mohammad Saqib of Lahore Garrison Gymkhana with 8 over par is leading 23 golfers who participated in Junior Professionals category today. Jawad Ahmed from Peshawar is following him with 9 over par. Ten golfers qualified for final round. Final round of the tournament will be played on Sunday to decide the winner of the tournament.

Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament, as his score was 134 under 10 after playing 36 holes at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC). According to details, Hamza Amin from Islamabad scored 136 eight under par and was on the second place while defending champion Mohammad Shabbir along with Ansar Mehmood were staying at third place with 138 six under par. Rashid D. Habib Memorial Golf has one of the highest prize money of Rs. 8.0 Million. The prize money also includes appearance money will be distributed amongst the top 5 Professionals and top 3 Senior Professionals, as per PGF current ranking. In addition, a brand new Toyota Corolla and a Suzuki Alto will also be awarded to the first player who achieves a hole-in-one in national and local categories respectively. Chief of Naval Staff would grace the occasion as a chief guest. The tournament will conclude on 16th January, followed by the prize distribution ceremony. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament that teed off at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) on Thursday under the banner of Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF). According to details, on the first day of the tournament, 96 professionals entered their names for the competition, as after completing the 18 holes game Waheed Balouch of KGC was on top with 67 scores, as Anser Mehmood and Hamza Taimoor Amir were at the second spot with 68 scores while defending champion Mohammad Shabbir from Islamabad with other six golfers were sharing 3rd position with 69 score. Rashid D. Habib Memorial Golf has one of the highest prize money of Rs. 8.0 Million. More than hundred top golfers will compete in the Professionals category for the coveted trophy. This year, Pakistan’s top golfer Mohammad Shabbir will defend his title. Prior to this event, a two-day match for local KGC Professionals, Senior Professionals and KGC Caddies, the 21st edition of Rashid D. Habib Memorial Golf Tournament, will be played on 11th and 12th January, with the aim to support and develop professional golf at KGC. Rashid D. Habib Memorial Golf has one of the highest prize money of Rs. 8.0 Million. Chairman JCSC Open Golf Championship starts in Karachi
Karachi (Sports Report):-The 12th Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) Open Golf Championship commenced on Wednesday at Karachi Golf Club (KGC) under the control of Services Sports Control Board, Joint Services Headquarters in collaboration with Pakistan Navy. Over 400 professionals, amateur, veterans, juniors and ladies golfers are competing in the prestigious gold showpiece. Championship carries Rs. 10 million prize money excluding other prizes like cars, heavy bikes and LEDs. Opening ceremony of the championship was held at KGC and President Services Sports Control Board, Rear Admiral Abdul Basit Butt graced the occasion as chief guest. Besides, the sponsors and official dignitaries, attended the ceremony including professional and amateur players. At the end, the chief guest Rear Admiral Abdul Basit Butt thanked all the organizers especially Pakistan Navy, KGC and sponsors for providing all out support in organizing this event at Karachi and formally declared the Championship open.
