Deepika Rasangika gives credit to Sri Lanka Cricket for her world record

Bahrain's Deepika Rasangika, who created the world record for highest individual score in Women's T20Is has not forgotten to give credit to Sri Lanka Cricket.
The 38-year-old Sri Lanka-born Deepika had played more than 60 international matches (ODIs' and T-20Is) before moving to Bahrain. She scored a mammoth 161 off just 66 balls with 31 fours in the extraordinary innings against Saudi Arabia.
"What I have become as a cricketer or as a person the credit should first go to Sri Lanka, but I’ve moved to Bahrain in 2017 to have a better life for me and my family and Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) have given me the opportunity to play international cricket. Because of that opportunity I was able to achieve this milestone. So, I love both the countries equally", she said over the telephone from Oman, where her team would play two more matches.
"I have no words to express my joy for this world record. It just happened in a few hours. From a team of amateur cricketers, my name stands against a world record. I was shocked to know that I booked the world record and feeling I am on cloud nine and living a life in paradise".
Deepika broke the record of Alyssa Healey.
"I have met Healey in the past and have played against her Australian team in the 2013 World Cup. It was her achievement and I am proud and honored to surpass her record. Wishing her good luck for her future cricket career".
Deepika has also thanked her coach Artha and team for the support. "Artha pushed us hard and motivated us to do our best. The support I received from my team was also incredible", she added.

LAHORE:-Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) Secretary General Moazzam Khan Klair believes that huge rewards for Pakistan’s world champions can further motivate the future stars of the country to win international glories.
Moazzam said this while addressing the ceremony to honour new Pakistan World Snooker Champion Ahsan Ramzan here the other day. He also handed over the national blazer pin to the champion and wished him, his coach and the federation best for the future endeavours. Pakistan Sports Board Director Nasrullah Rana, Punjab Cycling Association President Adnan Ahsan Khan, Secretary Shahzada Butt and Treasurer Amjad Khan were also present on the occasion.
The PCF Secretary urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to fully patronize Pakistan sports and sportsmen and provide them all-out support morally, financially as well as regarding the international-standard facilities. “Sports is now one of the biggest industries across the world and many big nations are using them to boost their finances and also to strengthen their relations with other countries.
“Not only this, big sports nations have already done 10 to 20 years of planning as they plan for at least 3 to 4 Olympics in advance and start investing, so that they may claim maximum medals in the Olympics. If we, the country of very talented youth, want to win Olympics medal, we need to invest heavily on sports and also there is a dire need to reward our world champions with huge prizes as it will encourage and motivate future stars to achieve bigger than them and ultimately, it will add honour to Pakistan globally,” Moazzam asserted.
PSB Director Nasrullah Rana also assured the new snooker champion of PSB’s all-out support and vowed that the champion will be taken care of well by the government and he will be provided with ample opportunities and the best facilities so that he may continue to win laurels for Pakistan in international events.

LAHORE:-Hamza Ali Rizwan, ranked 6th in ATF rankings, and Omer Jawad have booked their berths in the Under-14 and Under-12 finals of the Servis Tyres Junior National Tennis Championship being played here at Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah on Thursday.
In the boys U-14 semifinals, Hamza Ali Rizwan played well against Zohaib Afzal Malik and won the match by 6-2, 6-2 while Omer Jawad had to struggle hard to beat spirited Amir Mazari 6-2, 2-6, 10-7. The U-12 first semifinal was contested between same U-14 opponents – Hamza Ali Rizwan and Zohaib Afzal Malik – but this time, Hamza had to fight very hard to overcome rising star Zohaib by 4-1, 5-3. Omer Jawad this time took little time to brush aside young Abdur Rehman 4-1, 4-1.
In U-10 semifinals, M Shayyan Afridi outclassed Muaz Shahbaz 4-0, 4-0 to set final clash against Hajra Sohail of AAA Associates and a brilliant student of SICAS, as she thrashed Ayan Shahbaz 4-0, 4-0 in the second semifinal.
In the U-18 semifinals, emerging star Bilal Asim showed his class against talented Abdul Hanan Khan and overpowered him by 6-1, 6-2 while Mahatir Muhammad from Karachi stamped his authority against Farman Shakeel of Gujranwala, outpacing him by 6-1, 6-1. In the U-18 doubles, Farman/Hassan outsmarted Hamza/Azan 4-1, 4-1.
In the girls U-18 semifinals, Shiza Sajid beat Ashtafila Arif 6-0, 6-7(5), 6-2 and Amna Ali Qayyum beat Laiba Iqbal 6-0, 6-0. In the girls U-14 semifinals, Amna Ali Qayyum beat Bismil Zia 4-1, 4-1 and Fajjar Fayyaz beat Mahrukh Sajid 5-4(6), 4-0. In the girls U-12 semifinals, Fajjar Fayyaz beat Bismil Zia 4-0, 4-2.

Shah Qubilai Alam played hero’s role in the victory of Zacky Reapers as he utilized his vast experience and excellent polo skills and techniques that helped him hammer a convincing hat-trick of goals for the winning team while Saif Ullah Noon banged in a beautiful brace and Mustafa Aziz Anwar scored one goal.
For Remington Stars, who were unbeaten for a couple of matches, tasted the defeat at last as they could convert only three goals against the phenomenal Zacky Reapers. This time, Bilal Hayat Noon banged in a brace for the losing side while Hamza Mawaz Khan contributed with only one goal.

RAWALPINDI:-Top seed, Saeed Abdul and 3nd seed Farhan Hashmi set to meet in the final of the 1st Commissioner Rawalpindi Satellite Men’s Open Squash Tournament after winning their respective semifinals that played at Jehangir Khan Squash Court at Liaquat Baugh Sports Complex Rawalpindi on Thursday.
In the first semifinal, Saeed Abdul aka Saad Abdullah trounced Zain Ramzan 3-1 in a four games thriller, as both players exhibited top quality squash, however, Saeed managed the things smoothly after losing the first game at 4-11. During the rest of match winner lad did not allow his opponent to settle his feet in the court, however, Zain showed some resistance in the 4th game that ended 11-9 in the favour of Saad.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, local guy Farhan Hashmi from Rawalpindi outclassed Mohammad Faraz 3-0 in straight games after showing excellent skills of game. He was in great form and claimed the first two games comfortably, however, he faced some powerful strokes from his rival and game went up neck-to-neck, which won by Hashmi at tie-break 12-10 to qualify for the championship match that will be played on Friday (March 25, 2022) at the same venue.

ISLAMABAD:-A magnificent display of goalkeeping by Nathalie Kubalski, playing on her home ground in Dusseldörf, kept an ever-threatening Spanish attack at bay and brought home three points for Germany for the first time this Pro League season. With Spain dominating possession and sometimes by-passing the German midfield and defence with ease, this was an outcome completely against the run of play.

Germany took the lead in the first quarter through an excellent strike from Pia Maertens. The attacking midfielder turned at the top of the Spanish circle to create the room to fire a shot at goal. This was one of only a few German attacking opportunities as most of the first 30 minutes saw Spain on the attack and playing with energy and fervour. The only thing the Red Sticks were missing was a goal.
If Kubalski was frustrating Adrian Lock's Spanish team in the first half, she put up an inpenetrable wall in the second half of the game. Spain were playing the ball through the centre of the pitch with an ease that will have given German Head Coach Valentin Altenburg headaches. Experienced players such as Lucia Jimenez, Begona Garcia and Belen Iglesias all found themselves foiled by the sheer brilliance of Kubalski as she dealt with overhead shots, deflections and one-on-one encounters.
While Germany were worryingly porous in defence, they were ruthless when on the attack. Die Danas only had four shots in the entire game but they scored from three of them. In the 36th minute, Lena Micheel was the beneficiary of a swift counterattack down the righthand side of the pitch. Maertens added her second with a classy strike while in full forward motion. The talented player dinked the ball up and over Melanie Garcia's foot. The goal moves her to third place in the FIH Pro League top scorer's table.
Spain, for their part, created plenty of chances and had a total of 14 shots on goal. While Valentin Altenburg said he was not pleased with the performance and will have plenty to work on, in terms of getting his players to keep possession of the ball and shore up their defence; for Adrian Lock, the difficulty will be unravelling why his team were unable to score depsite some quite mesmerising build-up play.

LAHORE:-Australian pacers skipper Pat Cummins and Mitchell Strac wobbled the Pakistan batting line-up and host batters could score only 268 runs in their first innings. Visitors were on 11 runs in their second innings at the end of day-3 at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore on Wednesday.
Usman Kawaja 7 and David Warner 4 were at the crease. Earlier, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Strac badly dented the Pakistan batting by sharing 9 wickets. Cummins got 5 while Strac grabbed 4 wickets after conceding 56 and 33 runs respectively. Nathan Lyon chipped in one wicket.
On Wednesday morning, Pakistan took good start and was expected to pass the third day comfortably but no one for top-order could stay with skipper Babar Azam, who scored 67 runs with the help of six four and big six. Fawad and Rizwan even could not take a breath of sigh and lost their wickets in quickly.

RAWALPINDI:-Top seed, Saeed Abdul, Zain Ramzan, Farhan Hashmi and Mohammad Faraz have book their places in the top-four stage of the ongoing 1st Commissioner Rawalpindi Satellite Men’s Open Squash Tournament after thrashing their respective opponents in the quarterfinals at Liaquat Baugh Sports Complex Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
In the first quarterfinal, top seed Saeed Abdul got-rid-of Mohammad Uzair Rasheed 3-2 in a well contested five games encounter, as the both player displayed top quality game and amused the sizeable spectators. Saeed won the first game easily after playing some aggressive strokes and some classic drop shorts, however, next two games were too tough for him, as his challenger Uzair Rasheed replied his all attacks fearlessly and claimed the next two games at 11-9 and 12-10 to make the match score 2-1.
After three games, it was looking that Uzair would grab an upset victory after toppling top seed Saeed Abdul. On this stage, Saeed reset his strategy and bounced back in the match by winning penultimate game at 11-9 and squared the match 2-2. In the last game both players tried their best to clinch the game and to jump into in the semifinal but top seed guy was too good in the decisive game that won by Saeed Abdul 11-7. The final score-line was 11-5, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9 and 11-7, as the match wasted 60 minutes.
Zain Ramzan outclassed Mohammad Farhan in straight games 3-0 in the second quarterfinal with the score-line of 11-3, 11-5 and 11-7 in just 22 minutes. Farhan Hashmi defeated Huzaifa Shahid in similar style 3-0 in third quarterfinal. The score was 11-9, 11-7 and 11-5. In the last and 4th quarterfinal, Mohammad Faraz beat Salman Saleem 3-0 in only 19 minutes with the score-line of 11-8, 11-6 and 11-3. The both semifinals will be played on Thursday (March 24, 2022) at the same venue.
