Pakistan Air Force, Mari Petroleum, Police, and Rangers overcome opponents Sports Bulletin ReportRAWALPINDI: Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), Police, Rangers, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), and Islamabad overcame their opponents on the second day of the 67th National Hockey Championship, which is going on at Lt. General Nadeem Ashfaq Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi.Mari Petroleum outclassed Gilgit-Baltistan in a one-sided affair by 15-0 in the day's opening match. Arshad was top scorer with 4 goals for Mari Petroleum, followed by Sufyan with 3, and Amir Sattar and Hasher Ali with 2 goals each. Ali and Rahman Butt also contributed a goal apiece. The match was officiated by umpires Afsar Ali Shahzib and Zahid Hamid.In the second encounter of the day, Pakistan Police overcame Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3-2. Zahid Khan netted the ball twice while Jameel Bostan added one goal for the police, while Shahbaz and Waqaz scored one goal each for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Umpires Yaser Khurshid, Anwar Hussain, and Wajhat Jangoo supervised the match.In the third match of the day, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa B and Pakistan Rangers went head to head. Pakistan Rangers dominated the match, securing a 7-0 win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa B. Tauseef Iqbal's brace, along with single goals from Salman Dawood, Zishan Ahmed, and Shehroz, propelled Pakistan Rangers to victory. Umpires Mohammad Bilal, Fahad Ali Khan, and Wasim Abbas officiated the match.The fourth match of the day saw Pakistan Air Force and Sindh B go head to head. Pakistan Air Force showcased their dominance, defeating Sindh B with an 8-0 scoreline after a one-sided contest. Umpires Mohammad Salim Abdul Sattar and Asad Abbas supervised the match.
National Hockey Championship gets underway in Rawalpindi

General Nadeem Ashfaq Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park Rawalpindi on Thursday.The championship is being jointly organized by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) and the Army Welfare Trust (AWT). Managing Director, Army Welfare Trust Lt. General Nadeem Mukhtar graced the opening ceremony as chief guest. Also, Major General (Retd) Asghar Nawaz, PHF Vice President Shehla Raza, Secretary General Haider Hussain, Hockey Legends Olympian Abdul Hanif Khan, Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Shakeel Abbasi, Secretary of Punjab Hockey Association Lt. Col. R. Asif Naz Khokhar, Ehsan Ullah, International, Olympian Waqas Akbar, Olympian Tariq Aziz, Olympian Umar Bhatta, Olympian Arshad Olympian Rahim Khan, Rana Shafiq International, Raja Shuja, Raja Shahid were present on this occasion.Police beat Balochistan (4-1):In the first match of the day Pakistan Police beat Balochistan 4-1 after completing all four quarters. Jameel, Bustan, Umeer, and Usman scored one goal each for the Police while Abdul Nafe scored the solitary goal for Balochistan B. Umpires Amir Hamza Asad Abbas, and Rizwan Khan supervised the match.Pakistan Customs stun Sindh B (10-1):Pakistan Customs stunned Sindh B 10-1 in the second match of the day. Bilal was the top scorer of the match, as he netted the ball thrice during the 60-minute game. Hamza also scored 3 goals for the winning team. Manan scored 2 goals while Murtaza and Imad scored 1 goal each. Anwar Hussain Mohammad Saleem and Mohammad Bilal handled the match as umpires.Sindh A outclass KPK B (5-1):Sindh A outclassed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa B (KPK) 5-1. Mohammad Ali, Wahab Khan, Nauman Ali, Amanullah, and Arbaaz Khan scored one goal each from Sindh A, while Naveed scored the only goal from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa B. The match was supervised by Mohammad Bilal Zahid Hameed and Shah Zeb Butt.Punjab B thrash Gilgit Baltistan (10-1):Punjab B defeated Gilgit Baltistan (GB) by 10-1 in the penultimate fixture of the day. Punjab, Amjad Shah, Jahan Hammad, Amjad Ali, and Mohammad Danish scored two goals each for Punjab B. Shakeel scored the only goal for Gilgit-Baltistan. Fahad Ali Khan, Irfan Malik, and Mohammad Wasim supervised the match.Mari Petroleum overcome Pakistan Army (2-1):Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) and Pakistan Army locked horns in the last match of the day, as the finally MPCL won the match 2-1. Mohammad Afraz and Mohammad Waqar scored goals for Mari Petroleum while Mohammad Imad scored a goal for Pakistan Army. Indian men, Chinese women seal Paris Olympic Qualification
Sports Bulletin ReportLausanne (Switzerland): Hockey at Asian Games 2023 came to an end today with the Indian men's team and Chinese women's team claiming the gold medals and securing qualification to the Olympic Games Paris 2024! India and Japan faced each other in the men’s final yesterday with India registering a 5-1 win to secure their fourth gold medal in the competition's history, and Olympic qualification. In the women’s competition it was China taking on Korea in the finals. China edged the finals with a 2-0 win and in the process collected their 4th women’s Hockey gold at the Asian Games.Following India’s victory in the men’s competition Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia and Pakistan will now move on to the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024 where they will get a second opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.The men’s finals saw Japan do what they do best, maintaining an incredibly compact defensive structure and frustrating the free flowing Indian attack for most of the first half, but India managed to create a breakthrough just before half time, with Manpreet Singh putting them on the board. India scored three quick goals in the second half to snatch all the incentive and while Japan added a goal in the final quarter, India came away comfortable winners through a 5-1 scoreline, securing the gold medal.In the women’s competition, India and Korea finished level on points in Pool A, having won 3 matches each, while playing out a draw in their head-to-head matchup. India finished first thanks to their superior goal difference. In Pool B, Japan won all four of their matches taking the top spot, while China, who lost to Japan despite dominating the encounter, finished second by winning all the remaining pool matches. China dominated India in the first semi-final, winning 4-0 against their higher ranked opponents, thanks to their stellar work in the penalty corners, which gave them 3 of their 4 goals. In the second semi-final Japan and Korea could not be separated in regulation time, ending the game in a 2-2 tie, but it was Korea who held their nerve in the ensuing shoot-out to qualify for the final. In the women’s final, China got on the board early through a goal scored by Yi Chen and carried that lead into the half-time interval, dominating possession and not allowing Korea to sustain a long spell of territorial dominance. The second half followed a similar pattern with China maintaining great discipline, not conceding a single penalty corner through the game and added a late goal via Meirong Zout to seal the win and the gold medal. A total of 12 teams, in each of the men’s and women’s categories, will compete in Hockey at the Olympic Games. Hosts France have gained direct qualification. Australia (men and women) were winners of the Oceania Cup, which sealed their qualification, while Netherlands (men and women) qualified as the European champions. Indian men and Chinese women have now clinched their spots at the Olympics through their gold medal victories at the Asian Games. The winners of each of the remaining 2 continental championships in the Americas and Africa will also gain direct qualification to the upcoming Olympic Games. The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024, which will be held in January 2024, provide a second opportunity for teams to qualify for the remaining 6 spots at the Olympic Games.
Asian Games 2023: India beat Pakistan 10-2 to qualify for semifinal

Paris Olympics 2024: Oman to host FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier
Sports Bulletin ReportLausanne (Switzerland): International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Thursday announced that Oman would host the FIH Olympic Qualifier following the decision to withdraw the hosting of one of the Men’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers from Pakistan due to the recent developments in the governance situation of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.The tournament will be held in Muscat from 15 to 21 January 2024. The other three FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers will be played in China (Women’s – 15-21 January 2024) and Spain (Women’s and Men’s – 13-21 January). 6 Women’s and 6 Men’s teams will qualify for Paris 2024 through these FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, for which the participating teams from Oceania and Europe are already known.Australia and the Netherlands (Women’s and Men’s) have already secured their spot at the Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments by winning the 2023 Oceania Cup and EuroHockey Championships respectively, therefore joining hosts France.The Asian Games - being played currently in Hangzhou, China - as well as the upcoming Pan American Games and African Hockey Road to Paris tournament will determine the remaining teams qualifying directly for next year’s Olympics (3 Women’s and 3 Men’s teams) as well as the teams playing the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers. The Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments will take place from 27 July to 9 August next year.

National Hockey Championship to start October 12, 2023 Rawalpindi

General Ashfaq Nadeem Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi from October 12 to 23, 2023.According to an official, the tournament will be conducted in collaboration with the Army Welfare Trust (AWT). Hockey top national event will feature the participation of affiliated provincial units and departmental teams associated with the PHF. This significant event is being organized under the joint venture of the PHF and the Army Welfare Trust.
FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman: pools and match schedule revealed
Sports Bulletin ReportLausanne (Switzerland): The highly anticipated FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024 officially launched at a ceremony, which took place in Salalah, Oman attended by FIH President Tayyab Ikram, chief guest Sayyid Firas Bin Fatik Al Said and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas.On this occasion, the pools of the tournament were revealed. In the women’s competition hosts Oman were drawn in Pool A along with Malaysia, Fiji and Netherlands. Australia, South Africa, Ukraine and Zambia are placed in Pool B. India, United States, Poland and Namibia are in Pool C, while New Zealand, Uruguay, Thailand and Paraguay complete Pool D. In the men’s competition Netherlands were drawn with Pakistan, Poland and Nigeria in Pool A. India, Egypt, Switzerland and Jamaica will compete in Pool B. Australia, New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago and Kenya are placed in Pool C, while hosts Oman will face Malaysia, United States and Fiji in Pool D.The 16 men’s and women’s teams from around the world will all be vying to become the first ever Hockey5s World Champions when the World Cup gets underway from 24-31 January 2024 in Muscat, Oman. FIH President Tayyab Ikram, in his message, congratulated all the 32 teams that qualified for the FIH Hockey5s World Cup and said: “I would like to congratulate all the 16 men’s and women’s teams that will be a part of the record books as the first teams to compete in an FIH Hockey5s World Cup! You represent the very best of Hockey5s; and you will be the trailblazers and the role models for all future players who take up this new and exciting format of our beloved sport”Speaking about the new era that the FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 ushers, he added: “The draw ceremony today not only sets up the path to the gold medal for our teams, but also heralds the dawn of a new era in Hockey!
