PBF should stop disrespecting badminton
Raziuddin Ahmed It is an extremely shameful seen in the Commonwealth Badminton 2022 when in a Women’s Doubles disciple both the 19 years old girls Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand sealed the best of five team event 5-0, thrashing the Pakistani Olympian Mahoor Shahzad pairing with national doubles champion Ghazala Siddique with miserable score-line 21-4 and 21-5. It is fair and square to say that it was the street level game, showed by the top Pakistani Olympian shuttlers, dishearten the nation against the traditional rival. Question rises if the players are not capable to fight then why they were sent for 72 countries mega quadrennial sports fixture. The Olympian Mahoor was screaming over the Pakistan Sports Board’s decision to not send badminton team. On the other side, none of the Pakistani shuttler could win a solitary game against India, as in the opening fixture of mixed team event and gone down to all 2-0 defeat in Men’s Single, Women’s Single, Men & Women Doubles including Mix Doubles. Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) to stop immediately more disrespecting badminton. I appeal to the PSB and the Ministry IPC to probe on this insulting defeat. There are many solutions to keep national flag high in the international badminton arenas. Ashwini Ponnappa and Sumeeth Reddy (India) were the first to take court in the mixed doubles match giving India a 1-0 lead and outclassed Irfan Bhatti and Ghazala 21-9 21-12. Kidambi Srikanth followed up to maintain lead 2-0 with a 21-7 21-12 win over Murad Ali in the men’s singles fixture. In the third match India’s domination cleared as P.V. Sindhu pulled off a comfortable 21-7 21-6 win over Mahoor Shahzad. Sindhu’s victory gave India a 3-0 lead and assured the tie to take home. Having secured the win, India’s men’s doubles pair of Rakiraddy and Shetty took the court. The duo completed a straight set 21-12 21-9 win over Pakistan’s pair of Mohammad Bhatti and Murad Ali. The last fixture of the tie saw the women’s doubles team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand beat their opponents Mahoor & Ghazala 21-4 21-5 to complete the sweep. Pakistan's journey CWG badminton in the mixed team event ended last night after another miserable defeat by Sri Lankan shuttlers, as they won best of five ties with 4-1 games. Olympian Mahoor won her single with uncomforted points 22-20, 21-15 against young Vidara Suhansi Vidange, who just started her international career and has no place in the ranking. Rest of Pakistani shuttlers again faced 2-0 effortless defeat in all MS, MD, WD and XD matches against their South Asian challengers.
