Holland Ambassador to Pakistan Wouter Plomp visits National Hockey Stadium
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Holland Ambassador to Pakistan Wouter Plomp visited the National Hockey Stadium and Sports Board of Punjab (SBP) E-library on Tuesday evening. During his visit, Dutch Ambassador Wouter Plomp had meetings with Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) Mohammad Usman and Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi and discussed various measures for the promotion of hockey in Pakistan. Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umer Sher Chattha, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Director Youth Affairs Syed Omair Hasan, Olympian Khawaja Junaid, Olympian Tauqeer Dar, Bilal Akram, hockey organizer Junaid Chattha and Sports Board Punjab officers were also present on this occasion. Dutch Ambassador Wouter Plomp also played hockey with young players of Khawaja Junaid/SBP Academy at National Hockey Stadium and appreciated the enthusiasm and game skills of the budding players. Later, he also had group photographs with young boys and girls. Talking on this occasion, Dutch Ambassador Wouter Plomp lauded the launching of the Under-13 Hockey Tournament by the Punjab, Commissioner Lahore. “This tournament will play a key role in the true revival of hockey in Pakistan''. He also admired the efforts of Junaid Hockey Academy for the growth of the game of hockey among the young generation. Dutch Ambassador Wouter Plomp said the National Hockey Stadium is a historic ground. “I’m feeling great to be here in the world’s largest and fantastic hockey stadium where Holland won the Hockey World Cup in 1990 beating Pakistan in the final,” he added.
Air-Condition Case: Inquiry committee submits report to DG, PSB
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-The Inquiry Committee of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) headed by Mohammad Shahid has submitted its report to Director General PSB Asif Zaman regarding the Director Admin Rana Nasrullah’s three air-condition case. Rana was recently posted as Director Admin in the head office of PSB Islamabad was involved with the help of security officer transferred three air-condition worth hundreds of thousands rupees from Pakistan Sports Board to his private farm house Khanpur Dam. To probe the facts, DG, PSB Asif Zaman had formed a three-member Inquiry Committee headed by Deputy Director Technical, Mohammad Shahid along with two members Main Syed Wahid and Fida Mohammad. A source inside the PSB told this reporter that Inquiry Committee has submitted its report to head of the Pakistan Sports Board and a strict action would be taken against all the involved employees. Rana has been removed for the seat of Director Admin. “Director General PSB Asif Zaman asked verbally to all officers not to disclose the findings of the Inquiry Committee. It may be a police case if justice will be done with the report of inquiry committee, “source added. Nasrullah Rana said: “Committee did not tell me anything. Some people do not want to see me to do work for the Pakistan sports”.
South Asian Games 2023: POA officials brief minister IPC
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Federal Minster for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari hoped that Pakistan would organized the upcoming 14th South Asian Games next year 2023 successfully with the cordial working relation and understanding between government (Pakistan Sports Board) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), as the host city would be announced soon. He was talking with the POA officials in a meeting that held in Islamabad. On this occasion, POA officials briefed the minister about the planning and arrangement status of upcoming South Asian Games 2023 including finalisation of host cities, details of coordination committee, budget estimations and training of Pakistani athletes and their camps. Federal Minister said: “Pakistan government will provide all support to the athletes in training, coaching and other facilities in the camps. We will hire the services of international coaches to get good results in the 8-nation mini Olympic events. 27 sports disciplines will be the part of South Asian Games 2023. Pakistan has already these games twice in 1989 and 2004 successfully”.
Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan distributes prizes among top performers
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan has announced that Sports Board Punjab is planning to issue Sports Cards for the welfare of deserving sports persons of the province; he made this announcement while talking to media at the prize distribution ceremony of Laser Run competitions organized by Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) in collaboration with Sports Board Punjab (SBP) at Punjab Stadium on Tuesday night. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan was the chief guest on this occasion. He also distributed prizes among the top performers of the competition. Secretary General Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation Chaudhry Zahoor Ahmed was the organizing secretary of Laser Run event. Former Test all-rounder Manzoor Elahi, Chairman Pakistan Rugby Union Fawzi Khawaja, Director Youth Affairs Omair Hassan, Chief Sports Consultant SBP Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Admin Tariq Wattoo, Shahid Iqbal and other officers were also present on this occasion. Around 400 players (300 boys and 100 girls) of Lahore Division exhibited their potential in 15 categories of running and shooting competitions. Chairman Pakistan Rugby Union Fawzi Khawaja on this occasion announced to give sports shoes to 200 pentathlon players. While talking to the media, Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan said that promotion of sports culture and the wellbeing of the sports community has always been the top priority of Sports Board Punjab. “The issuance of Sports Cards for the welfare of deserving sports persons will definitely be a revolutionary measure. Through this card, the sports persons will be able to get their sports gear for their preparation and participation in competitive sports competitions”. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan said that pentathlon is an Olympic game and it is quite heartening to see wonderful performances of young boys and girls in running and shooting events. Pentathlon is a modern sport and Sports Board Punjab is utilising all resources to promote this game among the young generation of Pakistan. “We are quite upbeat to find several talented players through Laser Run competitions.” Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan further said that Sports Board Punjab will international pentathlon competitions. “The game of pentathlon is getting rapid acceptance among the younger generation of the country,” he added. IPC Minister Fehmida Mirza hopes the sports projects continue in future
Abdul Jabbar Faisal ISLAMABAD:-Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) and President, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Dr. Fehmida Mirza hoped that the future’s governments would continue the ongoing projects, which were started during her tenure. She further said that PSB had revised national sports policy after 17 years with the consultation of all stake holders.    She was talking to journalist after inaugurating PSB’s Elite Pool at a ceremony held at Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. Minister also virtually inaugurated Boxing Gymnasium at Karachi, Hockey Turf at Quetta and modern Cafeteria at Pakistan Sports Complex (PSC) simultaneously under one hall. Boxing Gymnasium had been in pipeline since 2004 but it was the personal attention of Minister that saw the fruition of the project said the official from PSB. The gymnasium is a gift to the youth of the Liyari and will help groom boxing talent of the area. Minister launched the Elite Pool Portal which is a centralized database of players and was developed to identify and scout players of different sports. Database enables the government to monitor the performance of players and find them the right opportunities for their growth. Minister despite political commitments took time out to launch new projects and met athletes at PSB. She said, “Through tireless efforts we are now closer to getting FIFA membership restored. FIFA and AFC both have appreciated the role of Government of Pakistan. Our youth deserves to play at international level and we will help NC conduct transparent elections of Pakistan Football Federation.” Talking about Sports Policy, she said” We had our last sports policy in 2005, and since sports is a devolved subject so it’s important to come up with an inclusive policy which caters to the needs of everyone. We reconstituted a new board and everyone on board is entirely on merit. By ensuring merit, we are empowering the PSB.” Minister Further added, “Next year we will be organizing South Asian Games 2023 and I have held meetings with the federations to chart a way forward which delivers success for all. Our focus isn’t just organizational, from sporting perspective 11 camps are being underway.  International coaches have been hired and will be hired to ensure we leave no stone unturned to bring medals home.” Minister said, “I saw the dilapidated condition of the old criteria and set a target to get our athletes and the staff of PSB a respectable dining place. This will be run on a self-sustaining model. We have brought international tennis back in the form of Davis Cup which is a huge achievement” When asked about POA and its role, Minister said “POA has to respect other state institutions and we have always taken everyone on board. Individuals come and go, it is the improvement of the system which I have always worked on. Individualism cannot get us far, “Minister concluded while replying another question.
Rai Taimoor Bhatti honours London Media Cricket Club Team
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti hosted a ceremony in the honour of London Media Cricket Club team at Punjab International Swimming Complex, Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Wednesday night. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan, Chief Sports Consultant SBP Hafeez Bhatti, Senior Journalist Mazhar Barlas and other officials were also present on this occasion. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti welcomed the London Media Cricket Club team. He said Punjab Sports Department is striving hard to highlight soft image of the country by holding mega sports events. “Journalists do reflect a true face of a society through their fact-based reports and analysis”. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti also awarded souvenirs to members of London Media Cricket Club team. The captain of London Media Cricket Club team Ghulam Hussain Awan thanked Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti for honouring London Media Cricket Club team. “The purpose of our visit is to show the world that Pakistan is a safe country for all international sports activities.” The members of London Media Cricket Club team appreciated the effective measures taken by the Punjab Sports Department for the growth of sports culture across the province under the leadership of Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti.
Kashmir Day: PSB organizes Football, Hockey and Netball matches on February 5
Sports Bulletin Report ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) organized Football, Hockey and Netball matches at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5. An exhibition football match was played between PSB XI and AJK XI at Jinnah Stadium in which PSB XI defeated Kashmir XI 2-1. PSB XI had a 2-0 lead till the break. In the second half, Kashmir XI scored a goal to make the match 2-1. Hassan and Mubeen scored one goal each for the winning team and Rashid scored the only goal for Kashmir XI. The hockey match was played at Naseer Banda Stadium. PSB XI defeated AJK XI by five goals to three. In netball fixture, Islamabad Green defeated Islamabad Bello 19-15.
National Modern Pentathlon Championship 2021
LAHORE (Sports Report):-Top swimmers from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) participated in the 6th National Modern Pentathlon Championship 2021 at NPSC Punjab International Swimming Complex on Sunday. In swimming competitions, Punjab took first position with 720 points while the swimmers from Balochistan managed to score 699 points and remained runners-up while the third position was taken by KP with 497 points followed by Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) team which secured 4th position with 332 points. Punjab’s swimmer Mohammad Shahbaz grabbed the attention by covering a distance of 50m in just 25 seconds.
Indonesian Ambassador Adam Tugio calls on Punjab Minister for Sports
Lahore (Sports Report):-Ambassador of Republic of Indonesia to Pakistan Adam M Tugio called on Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti at State of The Art Punjab International Swimming Complex on Thursday night. Director General Sports Punjab Javed Chohan, Director Sports Nadeem Qaiser, Deputy Director Youth Affairs Syed Omair Hasan and other top officials were also present on this occasion. The friendly relations, growth of sports ties between Pakistan and Indonesia, exchange of delegations, youth and exchange programme were discussed at length during the meeting. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti and Adam M Tugio also exchanged souvenirs on this occasion. Talking on this occasion, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said Pakistan and Indonesia have decades-old friendly relations and both the countries can cooperate with each other in multiple fields. “Youth of both the countries will benefit from the Youth Exchange Programme between Pakistan and Indonesia. Pakistan also enjoyed a respectable status in the games of cricket and kabaddi and we can extend help to Indonesia in these games,” he added. Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Adam M Tugio on this occasion appreciated Punjab’s sports infrastructure and traditional games. “I’m quite impressed with the effective measures taken by the Punjab government for the promotion of sports culture in Punjab,” he added.
Sports Board Punjab appoints Mikaeel Ali Baig as Goodwill Ambassador
LAHORE (Sports Report):-Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs RaiTaimoor Khan Bhatti has appointed tennis prodigy 12-year-old Mikaeel Ali Baig, who called on him at National Hockey Stadium, as Goodwill Ambassador of Sports Board Punjab on Tuesday. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs RaiTaimoor Khan Bhatti also presented a certificate to Mikaeel Ali Baig on this occasion. Mikaeel also visited Tennis Stadium and played tennis there for some time. It is pertinent to mention here that Mikaeel Ali Baig has won a gold medal in ITF Asian Under-12 Team Championship in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan from Nov 22-26, 2021. He defeated players from India, Jordan, Thailand and Kazakhstan during his historical title victory in the event. Moreover, he also thrashed an Indian opponent on his way to gold medal victory in ITF Asian Under-12 Team Championship in Islamabad in from Sept 13 to 15, 2021. Appreciating the accolades of tennis genius Mikaeel Ali Baig, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs RaiTaimoor Khan Bhatti said Mikaeel has earned amazing tennis feats at such a young age which is definitely a big honour for the country. “Mikaeel has won several world titles at the age of 12 which is a great inspiration for talented youngsters of our country,” he added. Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs RaiTaimoor Khan Bhatti said all the Pakistanis are proud of the achievements of young Mikaeel. “Young tennis star Mikaeel is a role model of potential youth of the country,” he said.
