IPC Ministry plans comprehensive security for Davis Cup
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (February 17, 2021):- Dr. Fehmida  Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) welcomed the international sports event Davis Cup Tennis Tie at the soil of Pakistan, which will be taken place in the first week of the March this year 2021 at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. A meeting under the Chairpersonship of Federal Minister for IPC, who is also President, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) was held on last Monday in Ministry of IPC to chalk out the comprehensive security and administrative arrangements plan for the up-coming Davis Tennis Cup Tie between Pakistan and Japan. President, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) apprised the participants regarding arrangements to be made for the successful conduct of the event. He also informed that the contingent of Japan will consist of 20 players and officials. About10 ITF officials including Referee, Chief of Umpires and Chair Umpire to supervise the tie along with technical team to operate the Hawk Eye equipment will also be in Islamabad for the tie. They will stay at localhotel in Islamabad. The Tie will be conducted as per ITF Rules and Regulations. Detailed security plan will be formulated by PTF as per guidelines of ITF in coordination with concerned security departments for the successful conduct of the event. Dr. Fehmida Mirza, President Pakistan Sports Board decided to constitute a Steering Committee headed by Secretary, Ministry of IPC comprising the various stakeholders including Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Health Services, Regulation & Coordination, Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom, Pakistan Tennis Federation for holding the event in a befitting manner. President, PSB Dr. Fehmida Mirza directed the senior management of Pakistan Sports Board to provide all administrative, technical and financial support to the Pakistan Tennis Federation to enable them to hold the event in a memorable manner. It is worth mentioning that a meeting of the Steering Committee will be held on coming Thursday, 18th February, 2021 to firm up the arrangements of the Tie in the current scenario of Covid-19. As per ITF instructions Covid-19 testing zone and isolation area will also be arranged at the Roshan Khan Squash Complex and manned by qualified medical staff of an internationally accepted laboratory in coordination with PTF Covid-19 officer, ITF event& security managers and NIH staff. The meeting was attended by the Officers of PTF, Ministry of IPC, Interior, Chief Commissioner Office, Security Division, CDA, Rangers, Chief Commissioner and PSB.Lt. Col. (r) Gul Rehman and Mr. Azam Dar, Deputy DG (Technical) were also present. During the meeting it was decided that President PSB along with the President, PTF will hold a Press Conference with regard to Davis Cup Tie Pakistan Vs Japan shortly.

All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union Elections on October 29
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (October 9, 2020):-All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union (CBA) election year 2020 will be taken place on October 29 at the different centers of the country. Preparations for the elections are in full swing, as the All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union (CBA) Islamabad Election 2020 would be held under the supervision of Deputy Registrar NIRC Mohammad Abrar Saleem. According to the election schedule, the nomination forms will be released on October 9 at 11 am, the nomination forms will be submitted and the provisional list of candidates will be released on October 13. The objections on the nomination forms will be heard on October 14. The release of the election symbol and the final list of candidates will be held on Thursday, October 29, and the election will be held on Thursday, October 29. While in the objections on the voter lists, according to the decision of the Registrar NIRC, the action of the All Pakistan Sports Board Workers Union was declared null and void. , Asif Khan, Mohammad Abrar, Mohammad Arshad, Mubashir Nawaz, Shahid Imran, Amjad Iqbal, Mohammad Tariq, Mehtab Ali, Mohammad Umair and other members of PSB Workers Union have been suspended on the basis of which these employees All Pakistan Sports Board Employees' Unions cannot participate in CBA elections.

DG, Sports Board Punjab assures all support to Usman Wazir
SALMAN KHAN LAHORE (Oct 8, 2020): Director General, Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that Pakistan had plenty of boxing potential and Sports Board Punjab would continue to make effective efforts for the promotion of this game in the Punjab. He was talking to boxer Usman Wazir at his office at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. It is pertinent to mention here that boxer Usman Wazir won the Asian Boxing Federation’s title by defeating Boida Bulldozer. During the meeting, Adnan Arshad further said that Sports Board Punjab would build a modern boxing arena in Nishtar Park Sports Complex with the cost of Rs 300 millions. “Boxing is quite popular among young generation and Sports Board Punjab will take all possible measures for the growth of boxing in all areas of the province,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh appreciated the achievements and boxing skills of young boxer Usman Wazir, who also won Lahore Division boxing title a couple of years ago. “Usman deserves huge appreciation for proving his metal at international level. Our facilities are ready for all talented boxers including Usman Wazir for training purposes”. Boxer Usman Wazir, on this occasion, said Sports Board Punjab has a major role in my achievements. “I’m working hard to achieve more laurels for the country in future. I have learnt a lot from British boxer of Pakistan origin Amir Khan in the past,” he added. Usman Wazir informed that he is preparing hard for next international boxing competitions. “For this purpose, I am planning to hold a training camp in Nishtar Park Sports Complex”.

Athletes course concludes
  ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD, Sep 25: Services Sports Control Board in the collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board organized Athletes Fitness, Grooming and Competency consolidation course concluded here at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Friday.   Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr. Fahmida Mirza  graced the closing ceremony and distributed certificates to the participants while President Services Sports Control Board Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas, Secretary Services Sports Control Board Lt. Col. Ghulam Shabbir and other dignities were also present on the concluding ceremony As many as 80 participants from all provinces, AJK, FATA and Gilgat Bultistan  attended the five days long course.   Nine lecturers were given by four experts from world athletics and five  experts by profession on the different issues related to Athletes Fitness, Grooming and Competency. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that  prime minister has a clear vision to put Pakistan on the path of progress and prosperity. “This course would be helpful to promote athletics and fitness skills adding that collective efforts during this difficult time would help to promote the sports”, She added.

Defence Day: SBP organizes badminton and table tennis exhibition matches
SB REPORT LAHORE (September 9, 2020): Sports Board Punjab (SBP) organized badminton and table tennis exhibition matches in connection with Defence Day of Pakistan at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and his wife Zakia Adnan Aulakh were the guests of honour on this occasion. Over 100 national and international male and female players participated in the exhibition badminton and table tennis matches. They were also introduced to Zakia Adnan Aulakh before the exhibition matches. Later, DG Sports Punjab and his wife Zakia Adnan Aulakh distributed shields, certificates and prizes among the prominent performers of the competitions. Organisers also presented souvenirs to Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and his wife Zakia Adnan Aulakh. The guests of honour also had group photographs with the participating players. Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Chand Perveen, Administrator Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall Mustafa Shah, Prof Shahid Mirza, Sakhi Sarwar Butt and a large number of young badminton and table tennis players were also present on the occasion. International badminton stars including Abdul Mannan, Muneeb, Ahmed Tallat, Mohsin Abdullah, Ali Haider, Sanwal Shafeeq, Hussain Shahzad, Mohammad Ahmed, Mohammad Arham, Nasar, Zainab Ch, Amna Jawad, Anam Sajid and Saman Shafiq participated in the exhibition matches played under the supervision of SBP badminton coach Zarina Waqar and Pakistan Army coach Sajid Hussain. Veteran table tennis coach Sabah Waris conducted the exhibition table tennis matches in which top stars such as Asim Qureshi, Kashif Razzaq, Jahangir Khan, Faheem Raza, Awais Hasan, Sana Muzaffar, Aysha Faheem, Zainab Iftikhar, Hina Mushtaq and Shiza Mushtaq exhibited their skills.

Punjab Minister for Sports awards certificates to young achievers
SALMAN KHAN LAHORE (August 12, 2020): Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti awarded appreciation certificates to leading young achievers – Huzaifa Ahmed, Farhan Ayub and 9-year-old tennis player HaniaMinhas - in a ceremony at his office on Wednesday. The ceremony was arranged to mark International Youth Day and acknowledge the achievements of Pakistan’s young prominent performers. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, SBP Chief Consultant Shahid Faqeer Virk and other officials were also present on this occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said these young stars are doing wonderful jobs on their own and they are our real asset. “The whole nation is proud of their remarkable distinctions. They are also providing great inspiration to young generation of the country,” he added. Highlighting the achievements of above-mentioned young achievers, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti informed that Farhan Ayub has established 21 amazing Guinness World Records at such a young age. “Nine-year-old tennis prodigy Hania Minhas has featured in 200 tennis matches last year. She also grabbed 43 distinctions during these matches and now she is preparing to travel to Dubai and Spain for practice matches”. Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti further said that Huzaifa Ahmed has also offered marvelous contribution towards deserving human beings during the coronavirus pandemic through his NGO ‘Rizq’.  “Huzaifa distributed 7 lakh ration bags among 20,000 needy families of the country during this testing time. He is also only the second Pakistani to be honoured by British Queen in recognition of his services for the cause of deserving humanity,” he elaborated.

Fehmida telephones to Abdul Khaliq
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (June 11, 2020):-Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Thursday enquired about the health of Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Advisor to Chief Minister Balochistan on Sports, Culture and Tourism over telephone. It is pertinent to mention here that Hazara was tested positive for Covid-19 few days back. Now, he is admitted to a local hospital at Karachi. Dr. Fehmida prayed Almighty Allah for his early recovery enabling him to resume his office.

PSB disburses Rs 1.5 millions among Kabaddi players
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (May 20, 2020):-Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr. FehmidaMirza, who is also president of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) disbursed the cash awards of Rs.1.5 million among the members of Pakistan Asian Style Kabaddi team that had won the medal in the 13th South Asian Games 2019. The kabaddi players, who pocketed the cash prizes were included Nasir Ali (Captain), Mohammad Nadeem, Sajjad Shaukat, Waqar Ali, Mohammad Imran, Ahsan Mahmood, Kashif Razzaq, Akhlaq Hussain, Mudassar Ali, Mohammad Safian, Usman Khalid and Asad Ali. Dr. Fehmida said on this eve, “I congratulate young bloods on this historical feat and ensure ultimate moral and administrative support to all national players who want to represent Pakistan in future as well” she said while addressing the participants of 13thSouth Asian Games. Fehmida Mirza said that Federal government struggled to deliver the due cash prizes. Giving sports its due importance, the minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan would have delivered awards himself in a mega ceremony if country was not going through COVID19 crisis. She said that the federal government is fully aware of issues faced by the sportsmen and hence working on facilitating them. She mentioned that Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has conducted training camps in past and urged the players to continue practicing at homes until the corona virus situation is over. Minister said that sports federation will gradually open sports facilities while observing SOPs so that the health as well as training of players does not get compromised. Mohammad Sarwar Rana, Secretary General, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation was also present on the occasion and thanked Federal Minister Fehmida Mirza on awarding the champions of 13th South Asian Games 2019.

Fahmida gives away cash awards to volleyball team
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (May 18, 2020):- Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) gave away the cash awards to the members of Pakistan Volleyball and Beach Volleyball that had won Silver and Bronze Medals respectively in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal from 1-10 December, 2019. It is worthy to mention here that in these games, Pakistan contingent won total 133 medals comprising of 32 Gold, 41 Silver and 60 Bronze Medals. The cash prizes were distributed in line with the approved Cash Award Policy. Total amount were distributed among the Volleyball players was Rs.4.500 million. Pakistan Volleyball team were consisted of namely M/s Aimal Khan (Captain), MubasshirRaza, Nasir Ali, Naveed M. Kashif, Abdul Zaheer, Hamid Yazman, Haider Farooq, MuradJehan, FahadRaza, Abdullah, Mohammad Idrees, Usman Faryad Ali, Mohammad Usman, Hassan MazharHussain, Mohammad Waseem (Beach Captain), Afaq Khan, Zarnab Khan, Mohammad Razzaq were attended. The Minister for IPC applauded the performance of Pakistan Volleyball team. While talking to the players she informed them that Pakistan Sports Board organized national training camps and acquired the services of foreign coaches. These coaches trained the players on modern and scientific lines. She also apprised that Pakistan Volleyball team participated in the Asian U/23 Men Championship at Myanmar in August, 2019 and secured 4th place out of 16 participating countries. In this Championship Pakistan team won 06 matches consecutively without losing any match. In the preliminary round Pakistan team defeated Qatar, Bahrain and qualified for the top 08 positions. From the other group, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) and Sri Lanka qualified. Pakistan team defeated both teams, and won top position in the group. Pakistan team proved strong enough to defeat Taiwan which finally became winner of this competition. In the next round, Pakistan defeated one of the top World teams Australia as well as Kazakhstan and qualified for semifinal. Unfortunately Pakistan lost its semifinal and was placed at number 04 position finally. Pakistan got recognized itself as one of the top teams of Asia.

Judo players Hamid Ali won gold & Silver Medals (Men’s +100 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Qaiser Khan won 2 Silver medals (Men’s 90 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Karamat Butt won 2 silver medals (Men’s 81 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Mohammad Hasnain won Bronze & Silver Medals (Men’s 66 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Nadeem Akram won silver (Mixed Team Event), Humaira Ashiq won Bronze & Silver (Women’s 48 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Beenish Khan won Bronze & Silver (Women’s +78 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Shah Hussain Shah won Gold & Silver Medals (Men’s 100 Kg & Mixed Team Event), Amina Toyoda won Bronze & Silver (Women’s 57 Kg & Mixed Team Event) and Asma Rani won Silver (Mixed Team Event). Total Rs.6.500 million and Rs.18.250 million were distributed to the Judo and Karate players respectively. Masood Ahmed Vice President Pakistan Judo Federation and Mohammad Azam Dar Deputy DG PSB were present on the occasion.       Talking to the players, Dr. Fehmida Mirza Minister for IPC/President PSB congratulated the medal winners expressed her sincere appreciation for winning sportsmen. She also valued the parents of the players who encouraged them to take participation in the games for bringing laurels for the country. She extended special appreciation to the women winning players who despite limited resources and societal pressure won the medals for the country. President PSB also advised the players to continue their struggle, keep them fit through regular practice, also train their juniors and youth of their locality. For high achievers in other international sports events and award to the coaches, PSB is also working in this regard. She also conveyed that a virtual session with provincial, AJK & GB sports ministers will be conducted soon to discuss issues being faced by the sportspersons in the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation. Masood Ahmed Vice President Pakistan Judo Federation thanked the Minister IPC Dr. Fehmida Mirza and stated that this is for the first time that players are receiving their reward in the form of cash prize money well in time which would definitely boost the morale of the players. This would definitely help their families and also facilitate for future endeavors. The medal winners emphasized that besides the federal government support provinces must play their due role to support the talented players so that youth, a major portion of the country, may utilize their energies in healthier sports activities and it can also make enabling environment for the youngsters to choose sports as their profession.
