Fahmida Mirza hails SBP efforts for promotion of sports
Sports Reporter LAHORE (Oct 20, 2021):-Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Fahmida Mirza appreciated Sports Board of Punjab (SBP) for holding the 1st Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship in a well disciplined manner. She was talking to media at the colourful closing ceremony of First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship at National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza lauded the efforts of Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh and PHF Women Hockey Wing General Manager Tanzeela Amir Cheema for organizing a grand tournament in which 14 women hockey teams from across the country participated. Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza further said the government was taking stringent measures to introduce Sports Policy 2021 in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “It is a painful fact that the sports department was totally ignored in the past but now our government is promoting sports among the younger generation in a systematic way”. Federal Minister for IPC Fahmida Mirza further said all the provinces should come forward and hold sports competitions on a regular basis to nurture talent in all sports. “It is the need of the hour to incline our children towards sports activities to grow a healthy society. We are also making compact plans to activate sports at school and club level on a regular basis because these are the best nurseries to prepare young talented players,” she said. Talking on this occasion, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani thanked all distinguished guests for attending the closing ceremony and top women hockey teams of the country for taking part in First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship. He said the Punjab government was making utmost efforts for the revival of hockey in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. “Hockey High Performance Centre is being established for the first time in the history of the country. This High Performance Centre will certainly play a key role in the true promotion of hockey in the country”. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said the First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship is organised to prepare Pakistan female hockey players for first-ever FIH Hockey 5s World Cup scheduled to be staged in Oman’s capital city, Muscat in 2024. “Sports Board Punjab is making useful efforts for the revival of hockey and the First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship is also a part of that campaign”. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said definitely it’s a historic day as far as the future of national hockey is concerned. “We are quite upbeat that the First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship will play an important role for the revival of hockey in the country”.

Adnan Arshad visits National Hockey Stadium
Sports Report LAHORE (Oct 13, 2021): Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh visited National Hockey Stadium to inspect arrangements of the upcoming First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship here on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Deputy Director Chand Perveen and Assistant Director Raeesur Rehman on this occasion. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh visited different parts of National Hockey Stadium to examine all the arrangements thoroughly. He issued necessary directions to concerned officials for the smooth holding of the First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh also received Sindh Colours women hockey team at the National Hockey Stadium. Kashmala and Sumaira are manager and coach respectively of the touring team which reached here for participation in First Chief Minister Punjab 5-a-Side National Women Hockey Championship.

UK MP Naz Shah meets IPC Minister Fehmida Mirza
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Islamabad (October 6, 2021):-Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr. Fehmida Mirza met with Naz Shah, Member Palliment of UK at the Ministers Office on Wednesday. According to IPC ministry press release, the dignitaries talked about how important a role sports plays in maintaining peace in the region. The federal minister also stated that gender sports are very important to her and has been the prime focus lately. The government is in the process of formulating policy level changes in sports as the federal government is responsible for broader guidelines though autonomy prevails. Both agreed that sports diplomacy is very important when it comes to international relations. The minister said that awareness about sports in Pakistan is essential. And though it is commonly understood that cricket is the most played in Pakistan, the reality is that football is the most widely played sport of our country. It was suggested that the UK Sports Board and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) would make collaborative efforts for the betterment of sports in Pakistan and develop deeper diplomatic relations. Conclusively, the dignitaries shared thoughts about deepening cordial relations and the importance of peace in the region through sports.

Athletes from all districts to participate in Fastest Man and Woman competition
SPORTS BULLETIN REPORT Lahore (September  7, 2021):- Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that Sports Board Punjab (SBP) would organize competitions of Fastest Man and Woman of Punjab now in October due to surging cases of Covid-19 pandemic; he said this while addressing a meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday. The meeting was convened to review the preparations of Fastest Man and Woman of Punjab competitions. Besides President Athletics Federation of Pakistan Maj-Gen (retd) Akram Sahi, the meeting was attended by Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal and Secretary Punjab Lawn Tennis Association Rashid Malik. Addressing the meeting, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said male and female athletes from all districts of the province will participate in the competitions. “We are pretty confident to find several talented male and female sprinters through these events,” he added. President Athletics Federation of Pakistan Maj-Gen (retd) Akram Sahi, on this occasion said that Sports Board Punjab under the leadership of Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh is taking effective measures for the promotion of athletics in the province. “We will fully cooperate with Sports Board Punjab for the successful organization of Fastest Man and Woman of Punjab competitions”, he added.

Sports Board Punjab organize hockey and football events on Independent Day
SALMAN KHAN Lahore (August 14, 2021): Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab and Sports Board Punjab organized football and male and female hockey events on the eve of Independence Day here on Saturday. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab FuadHashimRabbani and Director General Sports Punjab Adnan ArshadAulakh were the guests of honour on this occasion. They distributed prizes among the top performers at both the events. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab FuadHashimRabbani cut a cake to celebrate the Independence Day of the country at National Hockey Stadium. Director Sports HafeezBhatti, Deputy Director Chand Perveen, Assistant Director RaeesurRehman, administrator Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall Mustfa Shah, Tariq Wattoo, administrator National Hockey Stadium Malik Nasir and a large number of sports enthusiasts were also present on this occasion. Talking to media, Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab FuadHashimRabbani said in the wake of growing coronavirus pandemic, we have to curtail the indoor Independence Day sports events as per the directions of Punjab govt. “We are planning to organize a Football League of top clubs in the near future. Besides this a Women Football event is also part of our planning”. Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab FuadHashimRabbani said that we have sufficient budget for sports activities. “We are also coordinating with HEC, School and College Education authorities to finalise details of our Sports Calendar events. “Punjab Sports Department is also taking effective measures for the welfare of sports persons and officials under the Sports Endowment Fund.” Talking to media at National Hockey Stadium, Director General Sports Punjab Adnan ArshadAulakh congratulated all the participants on Independence Day. He lauded the media's role for excellent coverage of Independence Day sports competitions. He said the Punjab govt will extend every possible support to all talented players of the province. “We are also going to organize Punjab’s Fastest Man and Javelin Throw competitions in near future”. Punjab Stadium hosted an Independence Day football match between Pilot Quaid XI and Fame Iqbal XI on this auspicious occasion where Pilot Quaid XI defeated Fame Iqbal XI on sudden death goal. It is interesting to note that both the teams failed to score any goal in stipulated time and then both the sides were given 5 kicks each to decide the title match but both teams converted four kicks each. Upon which the match was decided through a sudden death goal contest in which Pilot Quaid XI’s Ahmed struck the decisive goal. Pilot Quaid XI’s Yasin, Umer, Bilal and Umeed scored the goals in penalty kicks contest while Ahmed, Umer, Abdul Rehman and M Awais netted goals for Fame Iqbal XI. In the Independence Day men’s hockey match, Quaid XI edged out Liaqat XI by 4-3 on penalty shootout at the National Hockey Stadium. Both the teams failed to score any goal in the allotted time period. AbdurRehaman was awarded the Man of the Match award. Aleem, Ahmed, Yasin, and Awais scored the goals for the winning team while Shahbaz, Ahmed and M Rabeeh struck one goal each for the losing team. The Independence Day women’s hockey match was played between Fatima Jinnah XI and Begum RanaLiaqat XI in which Fatima Jinnah XI emerged winner by 3-0 on penalty shoot outs. Ibra, Areeba and Sharika scored for Fatima Jinnah XI. Sana Amanat was awarded Best player’s award. The winning teams were awarded Rs 15,000 cash prize and trophies while the runners up sides pocketed Rs 10,000 and trophies in hockey and football events. The goalkeepers of the winning team were given a special prize of Rs 2000.

No officials, PSB sponsors only athletes and coaches: Asif Zaman
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (July 12, 2021):-The Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), Mohammad Asif Zaman revealed on Monday that PSF gave away grants to 31 national sports federations during the last three months, as only 45 national federations were affiliated with the board, as the annual grants would be enhanced next year. While replying to the volley of questions of journalists of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad he said he would select Olympic sports in allocating the funds in future. “We incurred the ticket expense of the 10 players and 3 coaches, who will represent Pakistan in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020, which will be going to take place in 2021 owing to coronavirus. PSB sponsors only athletes and coaches no other officials, “Ex-army man replied to another question. “We are in touch with top officials of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and we planned the Tokyo Olympics with consultation. I talked to POA president Syed Arif Hasan over his mobile phone while holding a meeting with Secretary POA Khalid Khan in Lahore. PSB paid 90 percent of tickets while rest will be given soon, “he maintained. Asif, who joined PSB in April, said that the accreditation of Tokyo Olympics had been closed in March while he took over the board responsibilities in April and was not able to get accreditation of quadrennial sports events of the world. “It is not obligatory for me to visit Japan if I could not do so for the players and other officials, “he added.  A question regarding South Asian, which will be held in Pakistan in March 2023, head of the PSB said that an 8-nation mega sports gala would be held in Lahore under the banner of Pakistan Olympic Association, however, some sports disciplines might be staged in Islamabad and Peshawar. “We have a nice working relationship with POA and we will organize the South Asian Games 2023 in style, “he hoped. “We will sponsor all the national sports federations and provide them with international standard coaching facilities. I have already met with the ambassadors of China and Cuba and requested them to provide us with coaches. I asked Cuban ambassador that Pakistan needs boxing coaches for emerging players like Under-17 and Under-19. We will sit with the federations’ official to formulate the plan for South Asian Games soon after the Eid, “Zaman told reporters.

IPC Ministry plans comprehensive security for Davis Cup
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (February 17, 2021):- Dr. Fehmida  Mirza, Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) welcomed the international sports event Davis Cup Tennis Tie at the soil of Pakistan, which will be taken place in the first week of the March this year 2021 at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. A meeting under the Chairpersonship of Federal Minister for IPC, who is also President, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) was held on last Monday in Ministry of IPC to chalk out the comprehensive security and administrative arrangements plan for the up-coming Davis Tennis Cup Tie between Pakistan and Japan. President, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) apprised the participants regarding arrangements to be made for the successful conduct of the event. He also informed that the contingent of Japan will consist of 20 players and officials. About10 ITF officials including Referee, Chief of Umpires and Chair Umpire to supervise the tie along with technical team to operate the Hawk Eye equipment will also be in Islamabad for the tie. They will stay at localhotel in Islamabad. The Tie will be conducted as per ITF Rules and Regulations. Detailed security plan will be formulated by PTF as per guidelines of ITF in coordination with concerned security departments for the successful conduct of the event. Dr. Fehmida Mirza, President Pakistan Sports Board decided to constitute a Steering Committee headed by Secretary, Ministry of IPC comprising the various stakeholders including Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Ministry of Health Services, Regulation & Coordination, Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom, Pakistan Tennis Federation for holding the event in a befitting manner. President, PSB Dr. Fehmida Mirza directed the senior management of Pakistan Sports Board to provide all administrative, technical and financial support to the Pakistan Tennis Federation to enable them to hold the event in a memorable manner. It is worth mentioning that a meeting of the Steering Committee will be held on coming Thursday, 18th February, 2021 to firm up the arrangements of the Tie in the current scenario of Covid-19. As per ITF instructions Covid-19 testing zone and isolation area will also be arranged at the Roshan Khan Squash Complex and manned by qualified medical staff of an internationally accepted laboratory in coordination with PTF Covid-19 officer, ITF event& security managers and NIH staff. The meeting was attended by the Officers of PTF, Ministry of IPC, Interior, Chief Commissioner Office, Security Division, CDA, Rangers, Chief Commissioner and PSB.Lt. Col. (r) Gul Rehman and Mr. Azam Dar, Deputy DG (Technical) were also present. During the meeting it was decided that President PSB along with the President, PTF will hold a Press Conference with regard to Davis Cup Tie Pakistan Vs Japan shortly.

All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union Elections on October 29
ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD (October 9, 2020):-All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union (CBA) election year 2020 will be taken place on October 29 at the different centers of the country. Preparations for the elections are in full swing, as the All Pakistan Sports Board Employees Union (CBA) Islamabad Election 2020 would be held under the supervision of Deputy Registrar NIRC Mohammad Abrar Saleem. According to the election schedule, the nomination forms will be released on October 9 at 11 am, the nomination forms will be submitted and the provisional list of candidates will be released on October 13. The objections on the nomination forms will be heard on October 14. The release of the election symbol and the final list of candidates will be held on Thursday, October 29, and the election will be held on Thursday, October 29. While in the objections on the voter lists, according to the decision of the Registrar NIRC, the action of the All Pakistan Sports Board Workers Union was declared null and void. , Asif Khan, Mohammad Abrar, Mohammad Arshad, Mubashir Nawaz, Shahid Imran, Amjad Iqbal, Mohammad Tariq, Mehtab Ali, Mohammad Umair and other members of PSB Workers Union have been suspended on the basis of which these employees All Pakistan Sports Board Employees' Unions cannot participate in CBA elections.

DG, Sports Board Punjab assures all support to Usman Wazir
SALMAN KHAN LAHORE (Oct 8, 2020): Director General, Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that Pakistan had plenty of boxing potential and Sports Board Punjab would continue to make effective efforts for the promotion of this game in the Punjab. He was talking to boxer Usman Wazir at his office at National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. It is pertinent to mention here that boxer Usman Wazir won the Asian Boxing Federation’s title by defeating Boida Bulldozer. During the meeting, Adnan Arshad further said that Sports Board Punjab would build a modern boxing arena in Nishtar Park Sports Complex with the cost of Rs 300 millions. “Boxing is quite popular among young generation and Sports Board Punjab will take all possible measures for the growth of boxing in all areas of the province,” he added. Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh appreciated the achievements and boxing skills of young boxer Usman Wazir, who also won Lahore Division boxing title a couple of years ago. “Usman deserves huge appreciation for proving his metal at international level. Our facilities are ready for all talented boxers including Usman Wazir for training purposes”. Boxer Usman Wazir, on this occasion, said Sports Board Punjab has a major role in my achievements. “I’m working hard to achieve more laurels for the country in future. I have learnt a lot from British boxer of Pakistan origin Amir Khan in the past,” he added. Usman Wazir informed that he is preparing hard for next international boxing competitions. “For this purpose, I am planning to hold a training camp in Nishtar Park Sports Complex”.

Athletes course concludes
  ABDUL JABBAR FAISAL ISLAMABAD, Sep 25: Services Sports Control Board in the collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board organized Athletes Fitness, Grooming and Competency consolidation course concluded here at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on Friday.   Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) Dr. Fahmida Mirza  graced the closing ceremony and distributed certificates to the participants while President Services Sports Control Board Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas, Secretary Services Sports Control Board Lt. Col. Ghulam Shabbir and other dignities were also present on the concluding ceremony As many as 80 participants from all provinces, AJK, FATA and Gilgat Bultistan  attended the five days long course.   Nine lecturers were given by four experts from world athletics and five  experts by profession on the different issues related to Athletes Fitness, Grooming and Competency. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that  prime minister has a clear vision to put Pakistan on the path of progress and prosperity. “This course would be helpful to promote athletics and fitness skills adding that collective efforts during this difficult time would help to promote the sports”, She added.
