Allama Iqbal Polo: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and FG/Din Polo
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and FG/Din Polo qualified for the semifinals of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City after winning their respective matches played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Thursday. Four teams, which lost from Pool A and B, will compete against each other for the subsidiary final. In the matches played at the Pakistan Park Cavalry Ground on Thursday, Platinum Homes/Master Paints defeated BN Polo 7-4½ to qualify for the semifinal. Amirreza Behboudi played exceptionally and fired in four goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan banged in a beautiful brace and Qadeer Ashfaq converted one for Platinum Homes/Master Paints. Haider Naseem pumped in two goals while Babar Naseem and Hamza Ejaz scored one goal each for BN Polo. Platinum Homes/Master Paints were off to a flying start as they converted four goals against one by BN Polo to take a 4-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second and third chukkers were evenly poised as both the sides struck three goals each in both the chukkers, with Platinum Homes/Master Paints still enjoying a healthy 7-4. No more goals were scored in the fourth and last chukker, as Platinum Homes/Master Paints emerging as winners by 7-4½.  In the second match of the day, FG/Din Polo also qualified for semifinal by beating 4 Corps team 6-3. Abbas Mukhtar hammered three goals, Sheikh Muhammad Raffay scored two goals and Saqib Khan Khakwani one for FG/Din Polo. For 4 Corps, Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana thrashed in two goals and Ibrahim Khalil struck one.  FG/Din Polo dominated the first and second chukkers fully and hammered two goals each in both the chukkers to gain a good 4-0 lead. The third chukker saw both the teams scoring one goal each with FG/Din Polo still enjoying a 5-1 lead. 4 Corps though played well in the fourth and last chukker by converting a brace against one by FG/Din Polo, but lost the match by 3-6. Both the semifinals will be played at Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday, as the first semifinal will be played at 2:00 pm, while the second semifinal will be contested at 3:00 pm.

Century 99 Punjab Polo Cup to get underway from February 6
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE:-The historic Century 99 Punjab Polo Cup 2023 will get underway from Monday (February 6) here at the Lahore Polo Club.  President Lahore Polo Club Umar Sadiq announced this along with Directors of Century Ventures Private Limited, Ayaz Lakhani, Kamran Afzal, Wasim Mazhar and Nazia Wasim, Lahore Polo Club executive committee members Agha Murtaza Ali Khan and Agha Najeeb Raza during a crowded press conference held here at the club premises.  On this occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between Lahore Polo Club and Century Ventures while the unveiling ceremony of Punjab Cup and National Open trophies was also held. For the first time in the history of Lahore Polo Club, Century Ventures has sponsored the historic Punjab Polo Cup and National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup. President Lahore Polo Club Umar Sadiq said that the history of Punjab Polo Cup, the oldest event in Asia, is more than a century old. “As one of the world’s oldest polo clubs, Lahore Polo Club relishes the prestigious history of playing the game of kings.  “The Punjab polo trophy happens to be the oldest polo trophy being played for in Pakistan having been introduced in 1886. Ever since, this tournament has always been played at the world’s famous Aibak ground of Lahore Polo Club,” he added.  LPC Chief Omar Sadiq also thanked Century Ventures for sponsoring this historic tournament. “I am grateful to Century Ventures and especially its Directors Ayaz Lakhani, Kamran Afzal, Wasim Mazhar and Nazia Wasim, for supporting the game of kings and knights.”   Ayaz Lakhani, Director of the sponsoring organization Century Ventures, said that it was great to sponsor such a wonderful event in a historic club like Lahore Polo Club. Wasim Mazhar, Director Century Ventures, said: "We have been appreciating the role of Lahore Polo Club for years and today we are a part of supporting the game, which is a matter of great pleasure."  Lahore Polo Club Executive Committee member Agha Murtaza Ali Khan said that six to eight teams are participating in the tournament while two foreign players are also included in each team, in which players from Argentina, Iran, England and Spain will take part. The umpires will also be foreigners, one of them is from England and the other one from Argentina.  The tournament will commence from February 6 and the final will be played on Sunday (February 12), while Pakistan's biggest polo event, the National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup, will kick off from March 6, he asserted.

Allama Iqbal Cup: BN Polo, Inara Polo/Black Horse, Diamond winners
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: BN Polo, Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints and Diamond Paints registered victories in the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament Sponsored by Lahore Smart City matches played here at Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday.  Haider Naseem’s heroics helped BN Polo to beat 4 Corps by a narrow margin of 7½-7 in the first match of the day that was played here at Pakistan Park Cavalry Ground. Haider Naseem displayed outstanding polo and mallet skills and contributed with four fabulous goals while Raja Samiullah thrashed in three tremendous goals for BN Polo. Lt Col Rab Nawaz Tiwana played well for 4 Corps and fired in four goals while Raja Mohammad Mekayial Sami scored two goals and Ibrahim Khalil struck one for 4 Corps. The second match also proved a thrilling encounter where Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints defeated Platinum Homes/Master Paints by a close margin of 6½-5. For Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints, Hissam Ali Hyder hammered four goals while Abdul Rehman Monnoo and Daniyal Shaikh struck one goal each. Amirreza Behboudi converted three tremendous goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan banged in a brace for Platinum Homes/Master Paints. The third match saw dominance of Diamond Paints, who defeated FG/Din Polo by 7-4½. Nico Roberts emerged as hero of the match by smashing in six superb goals while Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) struck one goal for Diamond Pants. Abbas Mukhtar scored two goals while Shah Shamyl Alam and Saqib Khan Khakwani converted one goal each for FG/Din Polo.

Allama Iqbal Polo: Remington Pharma beat SQ Seagold by 8-6
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Remington Pharma defeated SQ Seagold Polo team by 8-6 on the seventh day of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Monday. From Remington Pharma, Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero of the match as he played excellent polo and converted six superb goals out of eight while Ahmed Zubair Butt scored the remaining two goals for the winning team. Raja Jalal Arsalan hammered five goals and Qasim Khan struck one for SQ Seagold Polo team. SQ Seagold opened the match with a field goal to take 1-0 a lead but Remington Pharma then made a strong comeback and fired in four back-to-back goals to earn a healthy 4-1 lead by the end of the first chukker. The second chukker was evenly poised as both the sides banged in a brace each with Remington Pharma still enjoying a 6-3 lead. Both sides continued to play well and succeeded in converting one goal each in the third chukker, making it 7-4 in the end of the third chukker. The fourth and last chukker saw SQ Seagold playing better polo by converting a brace against one goal by Remington Pharma, who won the crucial encounter by a close margin of 8-6. John Fisher and Amirreza Behboudi supervised the match as field umpires.

AI Polo Cup: Diamond Paints, Master Paints/Newage emerge victorious
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Diamond Paints and Master Paints/Newage Cables emerged victorious on the sixth day of the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday. In the first match of the day, Diamond Paints defeated Platinum Homes/Master Paints by 8-3½. From the winning team, CEO Diamond Paints Mir Shoaib Ahmed displayed outstanding mallet and polo skills and hammered three tremendous goals while Nico Roberts also converted three goals and Lt Col Omer Minhas banged in a brace. Amirreza Behboudi hammered all the three goals for Platinum Homes/Master, which had a half goal handicap advantage.  Diamond Paints made a good start by converting one goal each in the first two chukkers to gain a 2-0 lead. In the mid of the second chukker, Platinum Homes/Master Paints made a good comeback, converting two back-to-back goals to equalize the score at 2-2. The third chukker was fully dominated by Diamond Paints as they banged in another brace to take 4-2 while they they fired in four more goals against one by their opponents to win the match by 8-3½.   The second match took place in the rain which turned out to be very exciting one as Master Paints/Newage Cables edged pass FG/Din Polo by 8-7 in the dying moments of the match. Raja Temur Nadeem smashed in superb six goals while Adnan Jalil Azam struck one goal for Master Paints/Newage. For FG/Din Polo, Saqib Khan Khakwani hammered a hat-trick of goals while Shah Shamyl Alam banged in a brace and Sheikh Muhammad Raffay and Mian Abbas Mukhtar hit one goal each. The match remained a see-saw battle from the word go till the last moment of the match. FG/Din Polo took a 2-1 lead in the first chukker, which was levelled by Master Paints at 3-3 in the second chukker. FG/Din Polo then managed to take a slight 6-5 lead in the third chukker but Master Paints made a good comeback in the fourth chukker and not only levelled the score at 7-7 but also smashed in the match-winning goal in the dying moment of the match to win it by 8-7.

Remington JPF win Under-19 Junior Polo Championship
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Remington JPF won the U-19 Junior Polo Championship 2023 title for the third time in a row after thumping Team Raptors by 7-4 in the final played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Saturday. Rising polo player Basel Faisal Khokhar performed exceptionally well from the winning side and smashed in five fabulous goals while Ibrahim Sultan and Faris Nuruddin contributed with one goal each. For Team Raptors, Ibrahim Ali hammered a hat-trick of goals while Mustafa Fahad converted one goal for Team Raptors. Speaking to the media at the closing ceremony, Captain Remington JPF Basel Faisal Khokhar said: “My parents have given me the opportunity to play polo at every level due to which I have won this honor and the title. I am very delighted and excited with this title victory and I am eager to win more titles.” The U-19 Junior Polo Championship, which is a calendar event of the Pakistan Polo Association (PPA), was participated by three teams out of which Raptors and Remington JPF qualified for the finals. President of Jinnah Polo Fields Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), Secretary JPF Major Ali Taimur (R), former polo legend Irfan Ali Hyder were the special guests and distributed prizes among the winners.

Allama Iqbal: Platinum Homes/Master Paints, Diamond Paints winners
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Platinum Homes/Master Paints and Diamond Paints emerged as triumphant in the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Friday.  Iranian player Amirreza Behboudi helped Platinum Homes/Master Paints to edge out FG/Din Polo 5-4 in the first match of the day. Amirreza smashed in four fabulous goals while Agha Musa Ali Khan struck the remaining one for Platinum Homes/Master Paints. Shah Shamyl Alam thrashed in two goals while Saqib Khan Khakwani and Sheikh Mohammad Raffay converted one goal each for FG/Din Polo. FG/Din polo dominated the match right from the word go and banged in a brace to gain a 2-0 lead in the first chukker. Platinum Homes/Master Paints played well in the second chukker and converted two goals against one by FG/Din Polo, who were still enjoying a slight 3-2 lead. Platinum Homes maintained their authority in the third chukker by scoring both the goals to gain a 4-3 lead. The fourth and last chukker was evenly poised where both the sides struck one goal each, with Platinum Homes/Master Paints winning the match by a narrow margin of 5-4.  In the second fixture of the day, Nico Roberts guided his team Diamond Paints to an impressive 11-8½ win over Master Paints/ Newage Cables. Foreign player Nico Roberts did well with mallet and polo pony and pumped in five fantastic goals while his teammates played equally well and contributed significant goals in their team’s total. Lt Col Omer Minhas (R) hammered three goals while Mir Shoaib Ahmed struck twice and Bilal Hayat Noon once for Diamond Paints.  For Master Paints/Newage Cables, which had a handicap advantage of a half goal, Raja Temur Nadeem slammed in six superb goals while Farooq Amin Sufi converted two. Diamond Paints were off to a flying start and maintained their supremacy till the end. Despite Master Paints/Newage Cables trying to make good comebacks, Diamond Paints finished the match well and won it comfortably by 11-8½.

Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament: Master Paints, SQ Seagold victorious
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Master Paints and SQ Seagold emerged victorious in the 3rd Allama Iqbal Polo Tournament sponsored by Lahore Smart City here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Wednesday.  The first match of the second day proved a nail-biting encounter, where Master Paints defeated Platinum Homes/Master Paints by a narrow margin of 10-9. Platinum Homes/Master Paints were enjoying an 8-2 lead after two chukkers, but Master Paints played brilliantly in the third and fourth chukkers and edged past Platinum Homes/Master Paints by a close margin of 10-9.  Raja Temur Nadeem was the hero of the day from the winning side as he smashed in six superb goals while Shah Qubilai Alam thrashed in three tremendous goals and Farooq Amin Sufi struck one. From the losing side, Amirreza Behboudi fired in five fantastic goals while Sufi Muhammad Haroon and Agha Musa Ali Khan banged in a brace each. Platinum Homes/Master Paints dominated the match right from the word go as they fired in five goals against one by Master Paints to gain 5-1 lead. They maintained their dominance in the second chukker and thrashed in three goals against one by Master Paints to stretch their lead to 8-2. Master Paints then made a tremendous comeback and banged in a brace against one by their opponents to reduce the margin to 4-9. The fourth and last chukker was fully dominated by Platinum Homes/Master Paints, as they hammered five fabulous goals to win the match by 10-9. The second match of the day saw SQ Seagold polo team defeating 4 Corps polo team by 7-5. Raja Jalal Arsalan and Omer Asjad Malhi from SQ Seagold team played brilliantly. Despite falling twice, Raja Jalal Arsalan cracked a classic quartet while Omer Asjad Malhi scored a brilliant brace and Bilal Hayat Noon struck one goal. Raja Mikael Sami hammered a hat-trick of goals from team 4 Corps while the remaining two were converted by Ibrahim Khalil.  4 Corps started the match in great style as they scored two back-to-back goals to gain a 2-0 lead. The second chukker was evenly poised as both the sides struck two goals each with 4 Corps still enjoying 4-2 lead. The third chukker was dominated by SQ Seagold by hammering a hat-trick of goals to take 5-4 lead. In the fourth and last chukker, SQ Seagold thrashed in two goals against one by 4 Corps to win the match by 7-5.  Jinnah Polo Fields President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), Secretary Major Ali Taimur (R), polo families and a large number of spectators were present on the occasion to witness and enjoy the exciting and enthralling matches played on the second of the prestigious tournament.

The first match of the day proved a one-sided affair, where Remington Pharma outclassed BN Polo by 10-2½. Hamza Mawaz Khan played the hero’s role in his team’s triumph with a phenomenal contribution of eight excellent goals while Basel Faisal Khokhar and Ahmad Bilal Riaz struck one goal each. From BN Polo, which had a half goal handicap advantage, Baber Naseem and Haider Naseem converted one goal each.  Remington Pharma were off to a flying start as they banged in a brace to gain 2-0 lead but BN Polo struck one to reduce it to 2-1 but in the dying moments of the first chukker, Remington Pharma converted one more to stretch their lead to 3-1. The second and third chukker was fully dominated by Remington Pharma as they slammed in two and three goals respectively in both the chukkers. The last chukker saw both the sides scoring one goal each with Remington Pharma emerging as winners by 10-2½. John Fisher and Ahmad Khan officiated the match as field umpires.  The second encounter proved a thrilling one as Diamond Paints defeated Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints by a narrow margin of 4-3. Nico Roberts was the hero of the day from the winning team as he thrashed in three tremendous goals while the remaining one came from Bilal Hayat Noon. From Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints, Hissam Ali Hyder smashed in all the three goals.  Inara Polo/Black Horse Paints started the match well by firing in a field goal and converted one more in the beginning of the third chukker as no goal was scored in the second chukker. Diamond Paints then made their presence felt and dominated the third chukker with three back-to-back goals to gain a slight 3-2 lead. The decisive fourth chukker saw both the teams scoring one goal apiece, thus Diamond Paints emerging as winners with a close margin of 4-3. John Fisher and Raja Jalal Arslan supervised the match as field umpires.

Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup: Remington Pharma lift title
Sports Bulletin Report LAHORE: Remington Pharma edged past Platinum Homes/Master Paints by 7-6 in the Maj Gen Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua Memorial Polo Cup 2023 sponsored by JS Bank main final played here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Sunday.  The main final match between Remington Pharma and Platinum Homes/Master Paints proved an enthralling and exciting encounter. Both the sides gave tough time to each other till the third chukker, where Remington Pharma played better polo and excelled with both mallet and polo ponies to take a slight lead, which remained intact till the final whistle. The losing side though tried hard and also managed to score one goal in the last chukker but their efforts couldn’t bear fruit. From Remington Pharma, Hamza Mawaz Khan emerged as hero as he hammered an impressive hat-trick of goals and he was ably assisted by his teammates Ahmed Bilal Riaz (two goals) and Ahmed Zubair Butt and Basel Faisal Khokhar (one goal each). From Platinum Homes/Master Paints, Iranian player Aamirreza Behboudi fired in fabulous five goals and Sufi Mohammad Haroon struck one goal but their contribution proved too little too late as they lost the final by a narrow margin of 6-7. Earlier in the subsidiary final, Team FG/Din Polo won defeated Team Black Horse Paints by 9½-7.  At the prize distribution ceremony, former Army Chief General Jahangir Karamat (R), former Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Aamir Riaz (R), were the special guests and distributed prizes among the winners and top performers. Other notables present on the occasion were Brig Badr-uz-Zaman (R), JS Bank Regional Head Majid Qureshi, Club President Lt Col Shoaib Aftab (R), singer Adeel Barki, polo players, their families and a large number of people from different walks of life.  Talking to the media after the match, former Army General Jahangir Karamat said: "The exciting final of this prestigious polo tournament at the Jinnah Polo Fields shows the level of Pakistan polo, which is increasing rapidly and also shows the interest of the fans that there is a lot of life in this game.” Brig Badr-ul-Zaman (r) son of General Saeed-ul-Zaman said: "I am very happy with the way the teams and people participated in the tournament organized in memory of my father.” Basel Faisal Khokhar from the winning team said: “It is a great pleasure to win the second eight-goal tournament of the season. We are well prepared to win more titles in this season.”
